two of paris’ most respected artists get together for their second collaborative extended player this year. dan ghenacia and chris carrier have been entrenched in the electronic scene in their hometown for a long while now, both men building a strong rep through consistently great music and dj performances. earlier this year they joined forces on ‘just a sin’, released via carrier’s adult only label, now they’re back with the follow-up on apollonia. across three deadly tracks, the duo explore their love of music making machines to the fullest – each track taking its name from ‘sweet heart’, translated into different languages. ‘schatzi’ works off a modular synth, bursting out of the blocks with a wobbly bassline which supports a range of subtle effects together with infrequent vocal clips. as the track progresses warm rising pads and female vocal snippets create an entrancing atmosphere. next up we get an arabian twist with ‘habibi’. a pervading air of mystery presents itself right from the off, with warped voices lurking in the background as the rhythm lures you into its murky groove. as the track progresses more eerie pads and effects are layered over the stepping bassline giving it a very creepy feel. finally, french vibes comes through with ‘cherie’ on side b. the track draws its energy from the busy, though crisp, percussive elements and a b-line that groans in unison with the beats. a simple chime remains present throughout, keeping it minimal yet interesting.

nathan melja is the same young frenchman whose debut ep we released under the name melja late last year. since then, he moved to new york and worked at mister hq for a few months, manned the light booth at the mister saturday night and mister sunday parties (djs make the best light guys), and spent most of his time outside that making music. leo draws is the culmination of that music-making, two murky but beautiful tracks centered around vocal samples and one off-kilter number aimed at the dark corners of the dancefloor.

dark entries digs deeper in to the archives of severed heads, one of the longest surviving bands to emerge from the australian post-punk independent music scene. they began in sydney in 1979, incorporating elements of ‘industrial’ noise-generation, tape cutting & looping and electronic sound synthesis. as the project developed song-structures and vocals were employed in a more-or-less recognizable mutant electro pop style. in 1986 the band released the 12” single “petrol” on nettwerk records. we’ve decided to shed light on the evolution of “petrol” with this ep showcasing four earlier incarnations of what became an instant synth pop classic.

agostino casillo, born in 1985, begins to approach music in the late 90s, influenced by the house sounds that characterize those years. never shut up in one genre, his desire to experiment led him to deepen the knowledge of all the trends related to electronic music, from house to techno, from deep to nu disco. out of every scheme, his productions are very eclectic. he is currently resident in one of the most innovative party of neapolitan underground scene, nice to be. in 2013 he release his first track “sick” on stop clone music, in january 2015 his second track “my vision” was released on “nice to be records”. make it right ep is an abstract of all is musical background caught up into four great tracks.
