caused corruption & spilled blood is a soundtrack to the tragic drama of humanity’s fatal flaws. inspired by an anecdote shared across the abrahamic faiths, the release is a meditation on humanity’s destructive potential. it forces us to confront the ugly side of our nature and pose the question, were the angels right to fear our creation would cause corruption and spill blood? same script, no solution provides one answer. the sonification of “ordo ab chao,” the opening track guides the listener through the process of public manipulation, providing a backtrack to the obstruction of the truth for personal gain. third degree arson touches on humanity’s second vice: the affinity for intentional destruction. is there hope against these demons of our own nature? no divine savior suggests not. if we cannot rely on divine intervention for our salvation, that leaves only ourselves to overpower our own vices. yet with the discord of the final track, sects, the listener is reminded of the deep cultural fissures that keep us from doing so. the caused corruption & spilled blood ep is a powerfully provocative examination of human nature, a compelling first release from the collaborative efforts of chafik chennouf & katsunori sawa.

as christmas 1969 beckoned, jimi hendrix, bassist billy cox, and drummer buddy miles engaged in extensive rehearsals for their highly anticipated appearances at the fillmore east in new york. branded by hendrix as the band of gypsys, the trio worked feverishly rounding such exciting new original material as >izabella< and >machine gun< into form. keenly aware of the special significance his forthcoming concerts represented, jimi wanted to prepare something extraordinary for his audience. to mark the occasion in his own inimitable fashion, jimi readied this special medley of holiday favorites to celebrate both christmas and the dawning of a new decade. this recording was made at baggys studios, a manhattan rehearsal facility the group preferred. it by no means should be considered a polished studio recording made to hendrixs exacting specifications. it is, instead, perhaps even more revealing. this is a glimpse of jimi simply having fun in the company of close friends. the photograph of jimi posing as santa claus was originally organized on behalf of the uk music newspaper record mirror. to help publicize the december 1967 release of axis: bold as love, the groups second album, jimi agreed to pose as santa for the issues cover. an alternate photograph from that session, with jimi bearing gifts in the form of axis: bold as love, is featured here. as an added bonus, also included is jimis playful >three little bears<. this track was recorded with the experience at the record plant in may 1968 during sessions for electric ladyland. bypassed for that album, >three little bears< was originally issued as part of the 1972 posthumous compilation war heroes. it has been unavailable in the us for nearly twenty-five years.

killer release on new yorks sequencias label. powerful and hypnotic chicago acid inspired cut on the a and a cool slow building chord driven track layered over raw drum rhythms on the b-side. recommended!! label promo text: sequencias does not stop, does not conform, takes no prisoners. our third release brings you a pair of artists from two different points along interstate 94, who have a reputation for the very same. so lets get to it. the main body laid down by villan x is tight metallic percussion underpinned by solid kicks and a stream of robotic filtered bass, containing unexpected shifts within the frequency register. foreboding tones and feelings drift towards us across which the disembodied voice of kold is able to find a platform from which to shudder into our consciousness and pose questions from across the galaxies about the nature of our very being. dcantu carries on the feelings of space, with protracted white noise shots and stabby modulated organ chords, but doesnt leave it long before setting the pace with solid drums and shifting keyboard funk aimed squarely your body and the dance floor as octave changes force you up and then down again to a backdrop thick with texture. this provides for the body and the mind. act fast though, sequencias does not like to rest.

supported by tornado wallace (delusions of grandeur), pete herbert (reverso 68/dance disorder)... when jay shepheard launched retrofit in early 2010, deep house with a splash of disco was on the menu. six releases later and the quality of music hasnt faltered once. jays own work has always been the main focus on all five releases but for retrofit 6, rudys midnight machine, (who is in fact robin lee of faze action) takes to the stage alongside an appearance from shepheard (as ee_ef_ex) on remixing duties. >ecstatic love glow< kicks off the ep, diving head first into the disco and synth heavy realm that we expect from retrofit (and, for that matter, from mr lee), whose house outputs with faze action as far back as 97 speak for themselves. the intro of tip tapping hats and congas leads into a penetrating bass guitar, a riff that goes on to be cleverly mirrored by keyboards and later, by what sounds like a scratchy lakland guitar. wooden hats, sirens and a plethora of cosmic elements boogie their way around until the tracks dominant synth parades in and takes over the arrangement, striking a dramatic and smug pose at the close of each stab. the second track of >east side good living< sticks with its predecessors groove, cosmic sirens, electronic whistles and metallic drum taps yet again highlighting rudys modern disco sound

strike a pose! the fruit of the first labours of the third side (marieu, steffi, lucretio) with nd_baumecker is breathtaking and bewitching. the two gems on this 12 inch are recorded live in a single and unique take on a quarter inch tape during a moist afternoon at the beginning of the spring. this is a sound of passion and devotion. >retro vogue< is a dancefloor smasher with hooks and beats from the streets, that come from the past but that have been technologically reworked with artisans skills in a glamorous phrasing. >burning< is an house anthem that discloses, beneath his shining surface, all the darkest inspiration of this crew, from chicago, to berlin, via detroit. funky percussions and seductive synthesizers merge together in a blaze of radiance

badmotorfinger got lost amid the blockbuster success of nevermind and ten (all were released around the same time). but the fact is that, though they re all great records, badmotorfinger is much less accessible by comparison. not that it isnt melodic, but it also sounds twisted and gnarled, full of dissonant riffing, impossible time signatures, howling textural solos, and weird, droning tonalities. its surprisingly cerebral and arty music for a band courting mainstream metal audiences, but it attacks with scientific precision. part of that is due to the presence of new bassist ben shepherd, who gives the band its thickest rhythmic foundation yet and, moreover, immediately shoulders the departed hiro yamamotos share of songwriting duties. but its apparent that the whole band has greatly expanded the scope of its ambitions. and badmotorfinger fulfills them, pulling all the different threads of the bands sound together into a mature, confident, well written record. this is heavy, challenging hard rock full of intellectual sensibility and complex band interplay.

support by chloe & jennifer cardini !! actually, a tragic fact that the two label owners of sub static never enriched the own catalogue with a cooperation, but then again, there was no time, passion, and maybe also the right tracks hadn t come yet. now we found them, the ideal components, and thus this split- ep succeeds to involve both sides of the same medallion in an extremely animated conversation, which also the party benefits from. a real brocksieper starts off the record, with that slinky, permanent groove which everyone likes to ride on, as it s making you look well on the floors which signify the world. then the flipside laxly continues where just hopped, speak: a little bell rings, the beats pose, the shiny side always in the floodlight. however, the mood changes - functionality mutates to emotiveness, the music floats differently. this can only be m.i.a., who still disassembles sounds with never known precision, gets ideas in order, simply generates funk. so the tone is given for the next techno season, thanks for that
