the second of two zentrum spinoffs is with us! as with the first, it comes loaded with four remixes. octo octa, vito & druzzi, cooper saver and turbotito, and lemonade all handed in top-notch reimaginings of tracks off jacques renault s debut lp, which came out just under a year ago, and they all somehow manage to be unique unto themselves while also sublimely bleeding into one another. octo octas rendering of mi casa samba serves as a propulsive beginning thats as dark and druggy as it is sharp and focused. vito & druzzis take on faith runs in a similar vein, but in a more stripped-back, drawn-out, and patient sort of way, it is nearly ten minutes long, so this is perhaps not a surprise. the b s remixes are brighter, sunnier, though that s not to say they re not bold. cooper saver and turbotito s redo of words has a certain funky swing to it that, paired with spacey synths and balearic bells and whistles, makes it ideal daytime disco fodder. the lemonade boys close the ep with their vibey take on faith. pads for days, a plump bass, and a focus on the original s sax make you wonder if the song itself somehow got stoned from a couple extra giant bong rips. a fitting way to end both the 12inch and the summer.

hot off the back of his debut lp for delroy edwards� la club resource as alter-ego innyster, seixlack serves up an ep of trademark, super raw, machine funk. spanning the full gambit of dredged up acid, synth stacked daydreams and straight up 4x4, the breadth of this ep showcases a real talent.

polish wunderkind selvy inaugurates no bad days with the pops ep, four tracks of tropical & grandiose house music. pops opens up with a bold statement in �wishing well�, a peak­time epic with the sort of disney­via­john carpenter sweeping flourishes. following that is �basics�, perhaps the most playful of all the tracks: all bouncy synth melody, groovy bassline and dreamy pads. on the flip, �bump pump� is arguably the most energetic helping on the ep, a percussive workout with gongs and all. if crash bandicoot was to make house music, this is close to how he�d sound. rounding the release off is the title track �pops�, perhaps the most original and subtle track with colourful vhs synths and strange sounds pinging across the mix.

drawing off the sound of his earlier work, the space loop ep mashes together the more ambiguously low pass-filtered style of ambient house with the thumping and racheting sounds of space station manoeuvring, interstellar mechanics and cloud-skimming high-altitude plane excursions.

the soul behind these recordings is rama dyushambee. not only a vocalist, mr. dyushambee also plays tenor saxophone too. he even produced, composed and arranged the entire album. the music on here is hard to categorize. the basic feel of the songs is jazz, but you also find a portion of funk and lots of spirituality in them too. if you like your jazz funky - check out this album. if you like your funk jazzy - check out this album. generally, if you like music with soul then you can t go wrong with orbit in space.

following up on his exceptional 12&#8243,,,, debut numb (figure 73) earlier this year, seatoc mass delivers another ep of finely tuned and highly diversified techno deep space explorations. starting on an atmospheric note, cipher�s intricate melody winchingly twists its way under your skin while airy breakbeats faintly hint at the producer�s uk roots. in contrasting fashion the bleep- driven lost lakes sticks to its metronomic stomp, making for a simple yet utterly effective tool. choral howls and detuned synths merge on transform for a gentle yet trance-inducing introduction to the flipside. emotive highlight rain then sees the manchester producer sonically recreate a thundering storm, complete with flashing strokes of lightning and a downpour of celestial scale. the breakbeat returns on closer flying buttress, albeit now at much faster tempo, exploring the common ground between futuristic grime and techno. blending all these different styles and their distinctive tropes in a coherent statement is a feat not easily accomplished. yet here seatoc mass pulls it off again, developing further the confines of both his personal and the label�s sound.

here we see italian brother duo elia and niro perrone, release their debut long player in the shape of �pescaiola� the name of the suburbs the pair grew up and paying homage to their musical roots growing up together. across the duration of the �pescaiola� lp easy to remember serve up a amalgamation of raw and intriguing electronic, house and techno cuts. opener �hanckora� lays down a lo-fi infused hip hop style to kick things off, while �checkma dem� lies in similar territory with the addition of some vocal stylings as well. for the most part though easy to remember lay the focus on emotive house music, title track �pescaiola� plays on multi-layered melodies and retro synths, �hijack percussion� focuses on gritty rhythm and soft atmospherics and �try to escape� brings to light ethereal synth leads and snaking bass grooves. the duo instil some funk influence into the lp as well via �feelings� and some experimental touches as well with their giulio etiope collaboration �degolas� amongst others. all in all easy to remember deliver a refreshing take on modern electronica across the project and further prove unclear is a force to be reckoned with in the underground.

firstly, a huge thanks to everyone for supporting us so far - 2016 has seen the dext label continuing to go from strength to strength, with our callahan and mella dee ep s backed with remixes from hodge and endian which have been been super well received. now for the third ep of the year from our resident comedian bodyjack. bodyjack has been an integral part of dext since he remixed dubspeeka on our 2nd release and headlined our label takeover of privilege in ibiza last summer. we are very excited about his return to the label with this 3-tracker (and our first full solo artist ep!), and we think you re going to dig this... the title track cobra effect is one of those tracks you aren t going forget in a hurry. intense and brooding, we are hard-pushed to categorise this, but layers of sinister bass coupled with dark, driving snares and eerie synth work culminate masterfully, making this the perfect dext track. hydra effect lifts the vibe with a straight up peak-time house jam with a sting in the tail. a raw-but-infectious bassline winds along under bodyjack s signature killer drum programming, before blasting off with something you aren t going to expect. rounding the ep off is slowine effect: a proper dancehall workout (reminiscent of bodyjack s earlier work) and a real cross-genre party starter. the most upbeat of the 3 tracks, this again takes all the elements of what we love about the music from the past and cleverly works them into something special for the rave. and that s not all for bodyjack on dext this year - he will be back with a one-off ltd record called -hot shot-, backed with a very special remixer...but more on that soon!

strength lies in calmness � and vice versa. marcel fengler returns on imf and offers three new inspirited musical pieces that protrude from the club context just as well as cater for your home stereo, picking up on the diverse musical moods defined by his debut album fokus (ostgut ton, 2013) while concentrating on intertwining sound aesthetics. with �kyu� laid out on the a-side, this new 12- starts off with a delicate yet muscular floor-pleaser � its subtle 4/4 rhythm is counteracted by lush claps on 2/4, but the true finesse comes in form of its varying rhythmic details, crisp hi-hats and underlying, subtle melodies, most notably the twirling organ trills, sustained synth pads and alienated shout outs. �shitau� on b1 picks up on these introverted and adoring musical moods with more organic bell percussion and swelling synth layers adding a more cinematic touch to the complex rhythm patterns�then pausing for a short dreamy break, gaining speed again before culminating in a grand finale. �zen� follows up with intimate string arrangements until fengler varies the tone and tempo with tribalist percussion and a lush kick drum. this ep is an ideal companion, whether you re pruning your bonsai or branching out a club set.

following the release of 2015�s animistas album on mindtours, steevio returns with the fourth and final volume in the modular techno series after starting the project in 2012. initially conceived as he moved his studio practice towards a purely outboard, analogue, modular synthesiser set up, the modular techno series has charted the development of steevio�s exploration of this working practice both on record and on stage. the work involved in live appearances across the uk and europe over the past four years have fed into the creative process, with rehearsals for sets often yielding the material that has ended up on vinyl. volume 4 is arguably the darkest instalment in the series to date, dealing in a strict economy of minimalist rhythms and off-key melodic touches while still easily identified as the unmistakable tones and distinctive grooves of steevio. in the grand tradition of techno as visionary music, the dystopian tone that lingers throughout modular techno vol 4 points to a future of uncertainty, but this is far from nihilistic music, always within the darkness remains a glimmer of hope.

alex suarez is part of a new breed of producers based out of brooklyn carving out their own unique sound experimenting in the world of raw primordial electronics. under the name cienfuegos, he has prior releases on brooklyn s primitive languages imprint as well as the france s unknown precept label-with his new -lost in god s country- ep we see him debut on the new york centered bank records. through the four tracks cienfuegos harkens back to the time of early industrial music, not far off from the early transmissions of spk or even hinting at sounds akin to e.g. oblique graph. suarez has a knack for developing textures and tension in his music sewing it all together with plodding rhythms and the occasional creeper vocal. heavyweight stuff coming most highly recommended.
