vinyl only. french duo dixia sirong make their vinyl debut on inner balance, the daughter-label of chez damier’s genre-defining balance imprint. this offshoot is proving to be a rich source of diverse, updated classic house sounds, and its third release is no exception. ‘winnie’ kicks the ep off with a laid-back vibe perfect for afternoon grooving. the techier edge to ’berry white’ makes it well-suited for later in the evening when the dancefloor starts moving, while broken beats and liquid ambience take ‘haqan fen’ into post-peak deepness – make sure to wait for the enveloping bass that arrives five and a half minutes in. ‘winnie’s cut’, finally, is an irresistible precision groove of the sort you might hear in the late late hours at club der visionaere, its soft pads, ricocheting percussion and rolling bass unfurling into the morning sun.

romanian specialist and techno creator ceparu already released on resopal. his follow up 12“ -mahajala- contains three unique tracks. mahajala is an urgent and techno-leaning, with paranoid, siren-like vocal snippets and scurrying basslines track. datol para is a brooding and slow burning tune with a synth line that goes from rubbery to minimal. around it, patient percussion, deep, warm kicks, and it goes and goes and goes. pamara lana features even more deepness but with ceparus trademark colorful synth freakiness.

aus music follow up a string of records from fresh signees paul woolford, tom trago and recloose with the return of a long term friend and label favourite marquis hawkes. hot on the heels of his recent lp social housing - the berlin based artist lines up doornroosje, a tight a two-tracker that remains consistent with his output on aus: dancefloor-focused jams suffused with simplicity and soul. discopuss kicks things off with a potent combination of samples and hardware as sassy funk samples are propelled by tough crunching drums. the title track then follows up with piano stabs and busy, percolating synth lines driven at a pacy rate to rapturous effect rounding off another solid addition to aus musics catalogue.

crossing returns with cracking and dreamy techno from pfirter, avion, doka and stefan rein. the label from avion strikes with its 7th installment releasing a package of 4 new techno slices from different producers showing what crossing stands for. the release starts with ‘sut‘ a track from the argentinian producer pfirter which creates an outer atmosphere with its pad, surrounding percussions and space running frequencies carried by this straight deep bass drum. a beauty. avion doesn’t take any captives and kicks the floor with a never ending trip of industrial percussions, noises, a heavy drum and a groove that will grab and never leave you. an explosive killer. for doka time is running in a different way. his ‘mural‘ comes with a melancholic bassline and rhythmic drum work to bring this imaginery painting from the wall into notes. surreal but true techno. stefan rein is closing the release with a bang. the ‘amorphous material‘ will never get tired and brings with metallic snares, hats and rides a kick’in weapon which includes a synth pad that will give you a smile in every moment you hear it. a clear definition of techno and its madness.

2016 repress , having provided a remix for the label back in 2010 ethyl & flori now release their first full ep for the label, the last ninja kicks things off with an unmistakable old school tech-house feel which to us at fof recalled the classic architecture dj mix by terry francis with its punchy kick, sharp percussion and imbued uplifting warmth. fornjot by flori on the flip is a different proposition, although still deeply entrenched in a throwback to yesterdays production stylings, this is a much more techno orientated groove with the tracks repeated metallic bass riff anchoring the track in a gloriously hypnotic yet fresh way.

the sixth release in this series of eight opens up with alexander kowalskis remix of lydia to the edge of panic on the a-side. kowalskis version is a pounding techno monster, with a heaving baseline and delayed chords, hinting at a more sinister dimension beyond the edge of panic. trolly routes (aka. oscar mulero) remix of miscellaneous pt. 7 on a-2, lulls and hypnotizes with an acid-tinged interpretation of the original track, that nods to the plus 8 school of techno. the b-side kicks off with jeff rushins remix of little green apples, pairing the spacious and beautifully gloomy background atmosphere of the original track with a heavier version of its rhythmic framework. the final track gives us the re-mastered original version of confort corpse, which displays christian morgensterns uncanny dedication to exploration and his love for the 80s.

xcpt music rises from underground electronic music event series taking place in the suburbs of matera, south italy, as mature development deeply rooted and inspired by the uk 90’s scene. it kicks off with label’s manager and co-owner nothus first release, fragments of loneliness, a 12” limited press coming out in the end of september. his first release illustrates a mixture of breaking beats, jungle vibes and detroit soul textures, coexisting in balance in all the tracks with a special broken beat reshape made by italian artist andrea (ilian tape), one of the most interesting newcomer of european techno scene. label artworks represent specific corners of the beautiful matera city, recently rewarded as european capital of culture 2019, and cradle of the label sound.

reduced and methodical housey techno from this new anonymous project out of portugal. in the same lineage as early cabinet records or tobias freund under his tobias. moniker, the duo apply the detail-oriented approach of a sound designer to classic dancefloor forms, each cut matching techno sensibilities with a levity that can only come from a love for the giants of 90s us house. flat, impassive kicks get lifted by skippy hats and claps, dubby synth backdrops are punctured by dramatic stabs (note the chez n trent flashes on the b-side), and under it all roams an ever-restless (sub-)bass that reaches right into your guts. the name may be routine, the effect is anything but.

materia ep is the second installment of ruhig s double ep, inaugurated with particles ep in january 2016. originally the records were supposed to be out in the same period, but due to problems with our ex-distribution, materia ep got postponed of few months. the release starts with the transcendent trento, respecting ruhig s tradition of broken beats idm deep techno leaning openers. consecutive cut the vector is a thumping mixtures of drones and heavyweight hihats designed with some attention for dancefloor. the slow-burner materia delivers some powerful mist-shrouded kicks on the b-side, that wraps up with sciame, a massive droning wave of electro wasps, which still keeps some classy chilled out elements somewhere in the background, behind the thunderous main drums. vinyl unfortunately left no space for the extra only digital track 1870, this last one is percussive retro-futuristic jam of psychedelic mouth arp and huge mallets drums. the track will be available for free download in the same period of the vinyl

desolat label boss loco dice is back with what is sure to be a massive autumn package: he has remixed the seminal dance track ‘go’ by the legendary moby, twice, and has made it all his own in the process. moby needs little introduction: the american dance producer and live performer’s albums are classics of the genre that are celebrated far and wide. they have been used on thousands of adverts, have given rise to hit singles all over the world and have made him one of the most celebrated electronic music stars of our time. his ‘go’ track was what started it all for him back in the 90’s, and was a bona fide club classic of the day. it still resonates today and always gets crowds going. now it has been remixed twice by loco dice, who has added his own stamp to it in distinctive fashion. his first excellent version is eight minutes of chunky and tribal drums, with rubber kicks, clipped horn stabs and big hits all building the pressure. those most famous vocal cries really finish it off in style, and ensure that dance floors will go wild whenever it is dropped, as do wonky synths and big piano chords at the breakdown. the second version is more emotive, with big sweeping strings smeared in the background to help make it all the more dramatic, teary eyed and impactful on the floor. this one is for the peak time in any set and is sure to make the most memorable moment of any night. both remixes here pack a real punch, and whilst remaining true to the original, they both sound just like you would expect from modern dance heavyweight loco dice.

following on from anethas ophiuchus ep last year, work them records founder spencer parker has compiled a remix package featuring himself and french techno stalwart antigone. a key component in the thriving parisian techno scene, anetha is a resident at monthly party series blocaus. spencer reworks drive with a dead girl, incorporating punchy kicks and shuffling hats before the originals mesmerising arpeggios come into effect. on the other hand antigone distorts black widow beyond recognition by blending fuzzy atmospherics with a cavernous 808 and glitchy hook. concluding the release is a bonus track from anetha herself titled traces to nowhere with its gloomy pads and squelchy melodies.

very cool ep from skatebard on vivod ! a mixed bag from the prolific norwegian producer showing us why he s still at the top of his game. -maskindans- kicks things off with some speak & spell funk followed by -hissige helger-, a brooding chicago-style banger sure to tear up some discoteques across the planet. on the flip are -langbolgen- and -gloymde skogar-. the former is an acid style work out, the latter is more of a subtle, hypnotyizing opus. all very strong tracks. don t sleep on this. they will go fast !

this up and coming producer is already a legend amongst the crew of techno freaks in brooklyn. with previous releases on local imprint lovers rock, and releases slated for proibito and exotic dance under the the aliases dj python and dj xanax, dj wey aka brian pinyero has contributed a massive 12” to bank records. the a side “song for masahiro” is dedicated to masahiro ueda, a dj and friend who graced the bk scene by way of japan. it’s a bass heavy tune with melodic pads floating in the forefront amongst the occasional cheering sample. it s perfect for either opening or closing a set midsummer. in contrast, the b side opens with “flow on.” with its distorted kicks, relentless claps and hypnotic bells one could imagine hearing it on a nightmarish carnival ride...fit that into a set. the record ends on an electro tip with spaced out pads, backwards samples and classic electro style drum patterns. distinct in sound and diverse in approach, don t sleep on the homie dj wey.

downfall theory embarks on a new chapter as it hosts a full release from a producer other than its owner, sanys. myztical isn’t exactly a newcomer though, and the ukrainian producer has already two releases to his credit on nicz records. given the title of his debut on downfall theory, it is no surprise to learn that myztical is using it as a means to question reality. inspired by the science fiction writer philip k dick and decades of electronic music, he certainly succeeds on venturing into uncharted territories on the title track. muffled, repetitive vocal samples, an atonal rhythm and relentless, slightly distorted kicks show that quite often, simplicity is the most potent ingredient. on “faith of our fathers”, myztical disappears farther down the wormhole. splintered rhythms, deranged howls and a deranged filter push his vision for broken beat techno into the abyss. “substance d” sees the ukrainian hotshot return to a more linear approach, pounding kicks underpin ghostly shrieks before a breakdown sees the track descend into grimy, woody mcbride-style acid. the accompanying vocal sample, the embodiment of a bad trip, only serves to accentuate the track’s darkly hallucinogenic qualities. finally, there’s “shifted realities” - it revisits the jagged filters of “faith of our fathers”, but does so against the backdrop of a pounding industrial kick and a grungy, low-slung rhythm.

colognes well-liked party imprint feines tier kicks off its in-house label with johannes klingebiels latewood ep. johannes provides four original tracks with a capital o! on the a-side the title track with its steaming pads and melancholic synth lines is almost too sweet to be true, while kontakt gets the house party started, serious drum machine work-out and synth horns all inclusive! the flipside delivers the trippy cyprian, revealing that piano sampling still can feel fresh and inventive, and trancy fancy, where nomen est omen.

nice price deal !!! the second release on eukatech by mexican artist beto cohen aka betoko including an excellent remix from berlin based tigerskin aka alex kruger. beto has also released and remixed tracks on toolroom, wow records and his own label, oko recordings where he collaborated with ivan escura and toni varga. h30: a poetic arrangement of rhythmic sub bassline and synoptic kicks builds nervously into soft lyrical vibraphones giving the track its melody. with the addition of the fast monotonic synthesizer, beto completes this piece of dance floor magic. h30 (tigerskins revenge z mix): alexs funky remix with exhilarating build-ups uses jackson sisters anthemic 70s brass section producing a sexy and vibrant floor filler. everybody should believe! overload: the darker b-side overload hints at betos diverse talents. the warm synthesizers and playful melodies create a supernatural sci-fi feeling with some retro 80ies-sounds, towards the end. beto has created a tight arrangement with a minimal acid build that takes the mind to another world
