incl marcel dettman remix !! the defining feature of bass music in 2008 has been the expansion of the dubstep sound across disparate genres. scubas debut long player, a mutual antipathy exemplified this phenomenon, mixing dubsteps bass rumble with the eccentricities of dub techno and electronica into a sprawling cinematic landscape.

kenny dope and louie vegas nu-yorican soul project was responsible for some of the biggest underground club hits to come out of nyc throughout the 1990s, their collective vast musical knowledge, impeccable taste and legendary status as djs in the city only helped elevate them to the highest level.
the nervous track is a fine example of the duos deep musical heritage, originally released on nervous records in 1993 its deep pads, bassline and solid as a rock breakbeats captured the ears and minds of any self respecting dj or dancer who came within a hundred miles of it, the very definition of a classic! fusing the worlds of jazz, latin, hiphop and house maw set the blueprint for generations of djs and producers to come with records like this.
here, re-mastered and re-issued from the original dats in conjunction with nervous records nyc is a piece of dance music history, the nervous track is available again and still sounding as vital and groundbreaking as it did on its original release.

it s been nearly 15 years since this originally hit the shelves, which literally took the immersive atmospheric sound of echospace and brought it right to the floor. with cv313 s -sailingstars- the spirit continues as they go on to preach the gospel of deep with a rippling exercise in space and bass. a sort of slow motion movement in tone and 38 hz sub frequency which nearly verges on the disturbing, a sonic threshold quite hard to achieve in a vinyl cut. the power of repetition and subtle atmosphere are clearly demonstrated here by bringing the listener to an almost hypnotic state within its melodic spatial grooves. the b side offers two immense reductions, equally effective providing a low end throb, analog spirit and organic textures captured in zero gravity, it s like truly sailing among the stars. lovingly remastered and mixed down from the original analog 1/4- reel to reel tape, strictly limited to 300 copies for the world.

the heavy pulse of sound systems synchronizes with the precision of musique concrète and the reconstructed memory of a masked folk dance of the swiss mountains. techno, drum n bass and dub are echoed within this sonic processional, where samples are pulled apart and recycled, cut at the beginning and end, then linked together.
tresque takes his name from an open-chain circle dance from medieval southern europe. under the musical moniker d’incise he has played on numerous solo and collaborative projects with cyril bondi, designing quiet, intensive listening experiences with various combinations of software, recordings from vinyl or in the field, modified objects, percussion and harmonium. as tresque the delicate minimalism he’s known for takes shape within driving grooves. airy, spacious, amplified noise from his collection of samples is sliced and tethered to weightier, physical beats. a tension forms between uplift and downfall, hypnotically oscillating between structural textures and collective dance.

(clear 10 inch vinyl) the second release to be pressed into totems slabs of 10-inch vinyl is from techno impresario luke slaters l.b. dub corp moniker. slater has been operating as a pioneer, with a full deck of aliases, throughout the genres many corners since the days when techno was a newborn phenomenon. the stripped back sounds of l.b. dub corps last releases on the imprint have resounded naturally within the psychotropic space carved out by stroboscopic artefacts.

ethiopian records aka endeguena mulu’s arcola 12 inch ye feqer edaye arrives in three tracks of fully frontal psychedelic electronic body music. make no mistake, this is club gear as you have never heard it before, a fever-dream rush of ethiopiyawi electronic that sits equally within the crucially current club sounds of gqom, nyege nyege, cargaa and principe as it does with the greatest sides from tribe of colin, zarate_fix, sex tags amfibia and 12th isle.

the bug goes head to head with burial for two bass-bin heaters that is flame 1, cementing the first release on his freshly formed label pressure. following on from the bug’s recent sidewinding 12 inches for ninja tune and a colossal album recorded with earth, fog / shrine is possibly kevin martin’s most soundsystem decimating collaboration yet, joining forces with the most elusive figure within the uk underground and hyperdub mainstay, burial. ‘fog’ rolls along at half-speed steppers tempo, submerged deep within the roots n future aesthetic of the bug’s signature beats, yet perfectly balanced by burial’s hollowed out and haunted night vision. ‘shrine’ delves deeper inwards with the beats slowed to a crawl, the bassline hanging heavy in an atmosphere thick with smoke. the vinyl comes in thick grey card discobag with download code included.

terekke drifts gracefully onto music from memory with a long player of looping ambient pad pressure. big tip! the recording of improvisational loops began in 2012 during yoga classes at body actualized center in nyc. in the spirit of past new age or minimal music, it aims to open up a space within the room giving the listener a chance to explore inward or outward. it was recorded using a digital synthesizer, reverb, and looper. terekke, january 2018

play – according to the cultural historian johan huizinga – is a free activity carried out within certain fixed boundaries in time and space according to voluntary, but necessarily binding rules. it has no goal outside itself and is accompanied by a feeling of excitement and joy. it creates social alliances that for their part often surround themselves in a secret or set themselves off from the everyday world by means of disguise.
in the ocean is closed the “modern composition super group” (the wire) zeitkratzer and the performance collective she she pop observe each other across the limits of their own categories. they look in fascination at their “exotic“ colleagues. outside eyes and ears are interested in different things, ask the right wrong questions, misunderstand the agreements and breach basic laws.
she she pop and zeitkratzer play a concert: secret, order and ocean. they celebrate music and play per se.

tv showw is a new record label from paris. we are very proud to launch the label with an ep from one of chicago s most prolific and inventive electronic musicians : jamal moss a.k.a. hieroglyphic being or i.b.m., among others. jai/mahl is his fresh new alias especially created for this ep. the three tracks are made for the dancefloor (four-to-the-floor) while not diluting his signature oddity made of sonic textures and damaged rhythms. moss calls his style -synth expressionism- or -rhythmic cubism.-

in physics, entropy is a quantity generally described as the measure of disorder within any kind of thermodynamic system, including the universe. it counts the microscopic states that system can assume when open, interacting with others or getting altered by external conditions.
thus, entropy makes for the perfect description of the way ilpo väisänen (pan sonic, i- lp-o in dub) and dirk dresselhaus (schneider tm, a s s, locust fudge) have approached music creation since the establishment of their collaborative project angel (now die angel) in 1999. allowing energy to flow freely through machines, bodies and different acoustic conditions, they’ve generated a powerful archive of mutating sonic states. a kind of creative attitude that favors exploring the physical complexity of unstructured electronics.
that’s where the title for their first release on cosmo rhythmatic comes from, “entropien” being the finnish word and the german plural for entropy. getting back to the stripped down set of their beginnings (modular synths, effects, and processed guitar), they’ve come out with one of their most, intense, rawest and noisiest albums to date, showcasing an impressing scale of dynamics while attacking the senses with belligerent tones. oren ambarchi also shows up on two tracks, intertwining his drums, field recording, and guitar within the duo’s discordant layers.

sound does not usually come from a single source. emotions usually do not come from a single source. the way we perceive is by filtering. within this complex process there are many difficulties to overcome and many discoveries to make. how long is the club inside of you - after you have been inside of him? how do love, soup and beer choices affect your daily life? and what do an island and an airport have in common? by morphing real life situations into musical phantasies mr. tophat tries to find answers to these and many other questions. along the way there is darkness but also fun and hope.

this anthology brings to light the music of robert Æolus myers, featuring recordings from 1982 to 2006 that were previously available only on cassette or cd.
the music within “a retrospective” tells the story of a man whose music elevates its listeners to a place of inspiration and enlightenment. often ethereal, Æolus’ music is driven by synthesizers, melodic flutes, sweeping patterns, and subtle rhythms to seed inspiration from deep within the listener.
one might assume that Æolus carved a new path for electronic music in hawaii, but the islands never quite fully embraced the burgeoning new age scene that Æolus found himself a part of during the 1980s and the early 1990s.
few artists in hawaii have produced a body of work, let alone embarked on a musical journey, such as the one that Æolus has created.
for aloha got soul, this release marks a new chapter of bringing rare and relatively unknown music of hawaii to the surface.

bartellow has long been associated with the esp institute though tambien, a trio formed alongside bavarian cohorts marvin and valentino, who have released seminal dancefloor material over recent years. with his debut album panokorama, we are invited into a completely different world of bartellow s creation a place where influences become a melting pot of mood, nuance and texture, and where instrumentation is abstracted from a variety of cultures, including those that exist solely within his imagination. bartellow has found a way to merge primitivism with retrofuturism, identifying their point of intersection and reveling in their union across ten songs. while his academic background as a jazz musician certainly informs both his progressive approach to composition and non-linear production, it is his obsession with electronics and synthesis that shape his current musical climate. the title panokorama stems from bartellows visualization of the album, a surreal landscape with a foreign presence centrally embedded, a panorama punctuated by a ko, although a hybrid word that reads as nonsense, it somehow feels and sounds just right.
