having remixed depeche mode and dj hell as well as releasing a new fixmer/mccarthy single with douglas mccarthy (of nitzer ebb), 2017 has already proven to be a productive year for terence fixmer. with the new force ep, the berghain resident follows up on 2016 s beneath the skin ep (o-ton 97), offering four stylistically different but congenial techno scenarios for club use. the record s eponymous track on a1 doesn t think twice: the initial signal horn starts as sudden as the staggered kick drum rhythm, reoccurring throughout the cut s 6-minute playtime while sustained and oppressive screams from a synth, extra multifaceted ebm percussion and synth drones add to the overall sombre atmosphere of ôforceö. the musical vibe distinctly changes with ôsidewalkö which puts more focus on synth melodies û like its predecessor a techno cut per se, but with a stronger accent on hypnotic motifs. on b1 ômelting planetsö emphasises the kick: clocking in slightly slower than the other three tracks û at 122 bpm û the bass drum here sounds extra vivid, ever-present and spot-on, just as if terence was playing the drum kit sitting right next to you. with additional percussion and swirling melodies ômelting planetsö is a lulling, mesmerizing meditation in dub techno. ôstriking patternsö on b2 links to the best moments of force ep s a-side, combining bone-dry bass drum hits and distinctive brazen, banging noises, pulsing synths pads and sizzling surface sounds.

side a features andy, music made by superpitcher in memory and admiration of a pioneer artist and his works. andy warhol looks a scream, hang him on my wall, andy warhol, silver screen, can t tell them apart at all, andy walking, andy tired, andy take a little snooze, tie him up when he s fast asleep, send him on a pleasant cruise, when he wakes up on the sea, be sure to think of me and you, he ll think, about paint and he ll think about glue, what a jolly boring thing to do. david bowieÆs lyrics about andy warhol mirror the groovy yet deeply moving emotion of this track. the music superpitcher imagined here is a pleasant cruise in itself and once you wake up from it, you will for sure think of andy. side b features yves. the track starts with a long introduction of harp music and then gently evolves into one of the more fragile and poetic pieces superpitcher has created thus far for the golden ravedays record. similar to andy this track is dedicated to an artist, yves saint laurent. what is clear in this music is that there is an intense understanding of the suffering yves saint laurent lived throughout his life as an artist and fashion designer. as only superpitcher can, he translated that emotion into this beautiful and touching piece of music.

there�s a delicacy to the performances by toxe�not a fragile delicacy, but the kind you�d associate with an olympic rhythmic gymnast, whose twirls only seem light and graceful because of the immense muscular power behind them. � - fader toxe�s horizons are very wide - she has deconstructed britney spears in -xic- for halcyon veil and with �still life� (co-produced with mechatok) she caught the atttention of kenzo who used it as a score to their fw 2016 prints� presentation and she has also performed alongside arca. toxe exhibits her relentless creativity as she edits and produces her own videos designs her visuals, exhibiting her relentless creativity which has lead to the excitement for the upcoming audio visual collaboration. the work, �morning story�, was created in collaboration with artist niclas hille. released on limited edition vinyl and also digitally in may 2017. the swedish musician crafts some of the most stomach-churning music productions, innovative drum patterns and lovelorn melodies in the scene. her debut ep �muscle memory� was released on staycore in october 2015. on the five tracks of this release she clashed boulder-heavy rhythms against intricate details painting a picture very human and emotional, developing a very distinctive sound. the artist concluded 2016 with her first ever south-american tour. more recently, toxe played at berlin s ctm festival and meetfactory in prague. the swedish experimentalist has just been announced for a gucci x club to club night in milan, best kept secret and wiener festwochen s new hyperreality festival.

new york meets brighton as both label and artist step out on wax for the first time. this is a new, exciting realm for homage, but they surely know they re onto a winner with the feel good disco edit tones of tech support. there are classics embedded into these fine jams, with -feel it- coming on particularly summery in its laid back disco funk stylings. -inside out- is slightly more looped up, but no less uplifting, while -clarity- heads into a more woozy, filtered groove that feels inspired by the likes of theo parrish s ugly edits. by way of contrast -sugar- is a much more electronic affair that kicks with purpose while simultaneously reaching for the stars.

the enigmatic label from berlin, schakal recordings is back with its fifth release and young dj lorenz lepus is next in line. the lepus project has gone through many guises, finally lorenz settled on making music as a solo artist under the lorenz lepus alias in 2014. while still studying at school lorenz became a resident at chalet�s tuesday sound department parties, cutting his teeth in the cities clubs he has played in venues including hoppetosse, sisyphos, arena and many more. this dedication to his music was not without some confusion, being aware of the melan- cholic minimal tendencies of his productions he has always been loathe to pin himself to a particular genre.what with the success of his career so far.. perhaps this isn t a bad thing. �feral child� is made up of two original tracks and two remixes.the title track s melody swells until it breaks down into a pulsing and rolling rhythm. �lost� is more immediate in its dance-floor compatibly, maintaining the rolling style lorenz imbues his take on deep house with an emotional poignancy rarely heard. floyd lavine steps up for the first remix on the ep, floyd is a resident at the legendary rise par- ties at watergate, with one foot in berlin and the other in his native cape town floyd delivers a beauti- fully loopy and oddball twist on �feral child� adding crunching static sounds. providing a harder take on �feral child�, italies vii circle change the rolling melody into a slow techno heater.
