the score introduces several new themes interwoven throughout the film, including identities for the character rose tico, the interactions between rey and luke skywalker on ahch-to island, and the resistance’s desperate escape from the first order. the score also reprises numerous themes and motifs introduced in the force awakens, including those for the characters of rey, kylo ren, poe dameron, and snoke, as well as the -march of the resistance- and -the jedi steps-. themes introduced in the original trilogy return as well, including -luke’s theme-, -leia’s theme-, -the rebel fanfare-, and the -force theme- from a new hope, -yoda’s theme-, -the imperial march-, and -han solo and the princess- from the empire strikes back, and, -luke and leia- and -the emperor’s theme- from return of the jedi. excerpts of the -tie fighter attack- cue, first heard in a new hope and reprised for return of the jedi, are also included. -the emperor’s theme- is the only returning theme to not be included within the official soundtrack presentation, it occurs in the film when snoke tortures rey for information. the score briefly quotes -aquarela do brasil- by ary barroso in its -canto bight- track as a reference to the 1985 terry gilliam film brazil. it also contains a brief quote of williams’s own theme for the long goodbye (co-composed by johnny mercer) during finn and rose’s escape, although this was not included in the official soundtrack release.

marionette is very proud and happy to announce kilchhofer s debut album the book room. benjamin kilchhofer is not new to the world of recorded music, yet he doesn’t seem to fit into a particular scene or group. as an outsider he is, however, fully immersed and melded into his own universe. he mentally escapes to a parallel world and weaves an alternate reality which would otherwise not exist in his daily life. kilchhofer avoids the spotlight and therefore isn’t really visible in today’s culture of ever changing content and social media. this is where marionette steps in to attempt to shed as much light as possible on this unique and incredibly talented artist. the book room is kilchhofer s musical diary, it s his library of emotions. it s a fairytale, an imaginary place shaped by exotic cultures, an escape from modern society, a collage of real and imagined experiences. you can hear influences abstracted from a wide number of musical approaches: the story-telling nature of folklore music, naive and conflicting rhythms of tribal drums, melodies and pads reminiscent of classical minimalism and microtonal experimental music, the freeform approach of early electronic music and krautrock, and buried deep within the tracks some hints of hedonistic dance and club music.

autonomia, first released only on cd in 1993, was mostly a solo project of simon crab with the aid of christoph fringeli of praxis, recorded after a 2-month tour in the usa and europe. typically bourbonese qualk, this album delivers the opposite of the listeners expectations, breaking the mold set by the two previous albums, my government is my soul and unpop. autonomia sets out in a completely different direction of harsh electronic no compromise techno and has become a classic in the field, making this vinyl release well overdue!

with his album in between re:deep presents not only an impressive specimen of his musical spectrum. the artist also merges deep house elements and experimental folk as well as extremely minimized indie pop into a whole new sound concept. re:deep intensively bends the boundaries of the genres, delves deep into the soundscapes of different epochs and styles. thereby warmly crackling field recordings blend into analogue basslines and sequencers as well as melancholic guitar drones meet sensitive vocals. the always smoothly appearing and cocooning sound is the subtle recurring theme of the whole album, which develops a close intimacy and captivates by its analogue warmth, which you can t escape of. tender strings float on vibrant drums and wafting surfaces. the album features the japanese artist cokiyu, her voice in combination with the arrangement form a symbiotic relationship and evolve wearing lights into a journey through slowly drifting electronica landscapes. the field recordings, which were made - inter alia - in iceland s rough countryside, are particularly noticeable between the lines and infuse the soul of the album as well as the love to detail in general. a total of nine tracks are featured on the album, which convince not only by their sound density and close interconnectedness, but also by the shift in emotions. music, that is enjoyable at your home as well as on the dancefloor and - after all -just touches your body and soul.

dalmata daniel continue with their inspired pairing of sonics and personalities on their seventh release (1st part of their split series) to date courtesy of dutch producer betonkust and budapest-based hardware techno fiend Új bála. as much as both differ in their geographical roots – holland and hungary, respectively, at first glance (or listen), their sound also ventures into different sonic territories. 1080p and pinkman-affiliate betonkust delivers vintage-tinged electronics – most prominently on his -ferenc s escape- – while Új bála digs deeper into the basement and unravels his analogue acid and badass beats. his -the piggy-bank deal- even touches upon oriental flavours. on the other hand, the music on this ep is buoyant and joyful, a welcome antidote to the gloom and doom that s not only been prevalent in the world around us, but also in too much music of the last few years.

hanna is the soundtrack album to the 2011 british-german thriller film of the same name, directed by joe wright. the film stars saoirse ronan as the title character, a girl raised in the wilderness of northern finland by her father, an ex-cia operative (eric bana), who trains her as an assassin. cate blanchett is a senior cia agent who tries to track down and eliminate the girl and her father.
the original score was composed by the british pioneers of big beat the chemical brothers, who had 6 number 1 albums and 13 top 20 singles in the uk. nme ranked the album at number 54 in their list of the -61 of the greatest film soundtracks-.
the soundtrack of hanna was nominated for multiple awards and eventually won an alliance of women film journalists award in the category -best film music or score- and a los angeles film critics association award for -best music-.

future retro electro stuff from umwelt

along with his rival, cornell campbell, johnny clarke was one of the most esteemed singers of the roots reggae era. having grown up next door to a popular sound system on waltham park road in western kingston, clarke s early fascination with music led him to hang out at studio one with jacob miller while still at school. he then made the rounds of talent shows with barry brown, sugar minott and the diamonds, which led to a debut recording in 1973, for the pianist glen stair, which remains unreleased. an early effort for clancy eccles, ‘god made the sea and sun,’ was not promoted properly, though ‘everyday wondering,’ for rupie edwards, impacted in britain, ‘golden snake’ for stamma houghton and a cover of smokey robinson’s ‘you really got a hold on me’ for glen brown were also false starts. the breakthrough finally came in 1975 when clarke linked with bunny lee, who had him voice the rastafari landmark ‘none shall escape the judgement’ (written by earl zero, who failed to muster a credible take), which kick-started the ‘flying cymbal’ craze. clarke’s resultant debut album, enter into his gates with praise, mixed hard-hitting rastafari devotional material with sympathetic cover versions of classics by the likes of the paragons, slim smith and delroy wilson, along with a few reggae renditions of some vintage american r&b.

next up on our album manoeuvres we head back up to sheffield. hiem are back with their 3rd album, the galactic cornucopia that is hotspace. it is a fine follow up to the 2013 escape from division street released here on nang. hiem consist of dynamic duo of nick eastwood & bozzwell (he was the live vocalist for -the all seeing i- who scored a worldwide hit with the beat goes on in 1998). we have always thought of hiem as one part grown-up dance pop, one part fine 80 s tinged songs and one part slightly weird and quirky. the third album doesn t disappoint managing to cram all those descriptions (and more) across ten fine songs.

ntroducing mr. eff. part myth, part man. dragging by the arm to safety through digital swamps and haunted houses, the parallel stands as a singular vision of miltonian proportions. small vignettes and passing scenes give way to grandiose and beautiful moments, from the wave-sleaze of midnight predator to the pre-credits suicide-tribute of h e a r t t h r o b, the parallel works as much for drive time as it does for drifting off to a far off land that is both wonderful and strange. not to be ignored. art by eric. a lee.

bringing in milestone number ten for x-kalay we’ll be kicking off a series of various artist eps. whilst taking in 3 continents brings a certain geographical diversity, the aim of this record was to create a cohesive release bound by the common themes of electronic music we love at the label.

limited to 300 copies! following his recent releases on tartelet records and oye, uffe kicks off the nos classics label with a record consisting of three mutated disco tracks that marks the start of his own new copenhagen-based label. run together with fellow tartelet affiliates vktr and jeppe wolmer (of vivian international) the first records a-side is a dubbed out percussive testament to the darkest and saddest times of uffe s life. a2 is a melodic and dreamy homage to one certain apartement located on the lijnbaangracht in the jordaan area in amsterdam. on the top floor of this worn down old house there was light to be found in these dark times. on the flip-side tings gets trippy. the title track finds uffe deeply intertwined in an occult-like bass-heavy ritual. an attempt to escape reality and cure the scandinavian misanthropy and the grey weather it comes with. a twelve minute voodoo disco tool perfectly crafted for a dancefloor which most probably does not exist.

rodhad’s debut album ‘anxious’ sees the artist step away from the dancefloor and further develop the narrative qualities of his beautiful soundscapes. it was the natural next step to present the sound he began cultivating with his recent eps “kinder der ringwelt” and “söhne der erde” as a full length lp. the experience the album is trying to convey is being thrown into a world that is ready to crush you.they have you with your back to the wall, and you are ready to give way to despair. will you be able fight back? how is it even possible? rodhad is the spearhead of a new generation of techno producers and djs. with his bass heavy grooves and dubby atmospheric soundscapes he is a sonic guide, knowing exactly where he wants to take the crowd, leading through the inexhaustible sounds of techno music in all its beauty and gloom. he fully immerses himself into the music, yet never loses himself. growing up in berlin’s rougher outskirts, as a teenager he was able to grasp the final flashings of berlin’s mythical nightlife of the 1990s at legendary places casino and ostgut. in the late 2000s the dystopian crew began their own series of parties and then the label with two seminal releases by rodhad, “1984” and “blindness”.

recorded in the beginning of the 80s and self-produced by itadi in 1983, this obscure album contained deep soul and controversial rare grooves backed by the 5 band members called the afro funk band de lome. itadi s music is unique, in his second album, he kept the same recipe: a mixture of soul, reggae, hi-life and funk, with heavy lyrics which sounds like slogans and caused him big trouble after its release. he was obliged to escape the country to usa.a real definition of a revolutionary musician! this deluxe lp contains also two unreleased tracks, interview, and photos and was fully licensed with his family.
