the red hook grain terminal is a post-industrial unit overlooking brooklyn that serves as a pillar of the recent work of sound-artist, jordan edge. inorganic is a collection of organic sounds that have been degraded by inorganic spaces and working methods. the listener is situated in a three-dimensional world where the deterioration of sound is equal to the creation of the content itself. a world of dampened acoustics, half destroyed spaces, dead room tones and manipulated environmental surroundings.

&#8203,,&#8203,,introducing paris-based contemporary sculptor and music maker erwan sene joining the exponential unknown precept roster. gathering pieces thought of as little narratives for his debut release, not without a bit french irony around the concept of work, i heard you laughing wavers towards mechanical repetition and something more outdated at times. purposely slowing down the tempo to fit the apparent redundancy of an industrial environment and its steadily running engines. an eroded atmosphere of sorts, analogous to the smokestacks emanating from factory chimneys. accentuating the ambiguity of a wild thought which is hard to grasp. despite its machine-driven aspect, sene primary questions the difficulty to manage one s life stuck in a primitive mindset, making intuitive associations in a grid pattern. carbon copy music for the tangled minds out there, leaving room for nothing but sedated feelings.

farrago created a name for himself in this short time taking back the real roots of techno and rave and putting them in a new context... we said new, not different. this is his 3rd record on the label, and this time he goes beyond the idea of reminiscing the past, �hard light� shows how the rave can be alive in everyone of us, and absolutely not changing the formula he gives us this beautiful feeling of being back in the past, while you dig in a record shop and you find something that hits you, in our past was that record that gave us memories. in this case the work of this record is almost double, the record itself reminisces the past, but gives good hope for the future of genuine rave music without compromises.

for russian electronic music, mikhail chekalin is not only a major character, who has affected the scene�s establishment and development, but also a kind of symbolic figure. his music has been praised by many in the west - from journalists and critics of all kinds to frank zappa and karlheinz stockhausen, while in moscow chekalin�s name was excluded from the official cultural agenda for a long time: he was accused of propaganda of foreign pro-western aesthetics and up until the end of the 80�s wasn�t allowed to release his works or travel abroad. this, however, didn�t interfere with him recording dozens of innovative electronic compositions and contributing greatly to the development of unofficial soviet art in general - for example, providing sound design for the famous exhibitions of twenty moscow artists on malaya gruzinskaya or arranging the first audiovisual performances on a specially constructed light organ.
however, just like all great artists, mikhail himself prefers to focus not on personal achievements, but on creativity. i don�t have a biography - only a discography - this quote of the author may become an entry point of sorts into the compilation presented. this archival collection of works recorded within the period from 1978 to 1987 are chekalin�s multigenre experiments ranging from spatial music (in essence, ambient�s precursor) to more contemporary synthesizer and post-symphonic compositions.

das projekt wurde erstmals im februar 2016 im barbican aufgeführt und von boiler room und dem lco selbst kuratiert. die musik schafft synergien zwischen elektronischen und akustischen live-komponenten, nicht nur bei harmonien, sondern auch, wie traditionelle instrumente zu hybriden instrumenten verbunden wurden. als teil der entwicklung reicherten actress und das lco ein typisches klavier an und schufen damit sounds unter mithilfe von verschiedenen objekten, wie bspw. schüsseln oder plastiktüten. die ausverkaufte show selbst war ein großer erfolg und womöglich der startpunkt, der schlussendlich zu dieser mit spannung erwarteten veröffentlichung führte. für das album nahm das lco die einzelnen instrumentalparts im spitfire studio in l.a. auf, schickte sie dann rüber zu actress, der diese spuren nach seinen vorstellungen verfremdete, wodurch wirklich einzigartige neue stücke entstanden. außerdem haben lco, neben anderen tracks aus seinem werk, actress� �hubble� (aus seinem 2010er-album �splazsh�) und �n.e.w.� (aus �r.i.p.�, 2012) neu interpretiert.die entstehung des projekts war sehr stark durch das mekka des brutalismus inspiriert, dem barbican centre in london, wo das projekt uraufgeführt wurde. iannis xenakis, ein griechischer komponist und architekt, der gebäude seinen kompositionen entsprechend schuf und vice versa, war eine starke inspirationsquelle. actress und lco haben, xenakis nicht ganz unähnlich, die grundrisse des barbican verwendet, um klänge zu produzieren, die direkt von den formen des gebäudes beeinflusst waren.

rylander, a member of legendary acts such as union carbide productions and the skull defekts, has been pushing the envelope for electronic music, varying between ambient and noise. rylander�s solo works could be described as sophisticated music and �fran en obestamd plats i rummet� combines the sophisticated sides with his band oriented works that holds another kind of tension.

* this ep was first released in 2006 and is the first stonedwave release. it is a white seven inch, containing of two tracks by robert chudoba aka kungfoo. a. undead and real (kungfoo s ectoplasma remix) is the result of a remix context which was organized at the erutufon website using a samplepack by chip tronic. the theme is undead and real and describes the atmosphere in a hp lovecraft short novel where an undead person is roaming around at night.. kungfoo processes the samples of the track which was created by chip tronic with own built reaktor ensembles and one of the first ableton live versions. the result is a funky wonky electro tune with a lots of bleeps, modulations and which is still a lot of fun to listen to. timeless funk! b. rock me is a wonderful science fiction like glitch techno track with very elaborated breaks and an awesome groove. like a whirl of satin.

tangerine dream have been a fundamental influence on electronic and progressive music since their formation in west berlin, 1967. inspiring genres, musicians and other art forms, from the future sound of london to porcupine tree, the widely popular tv show stranger things (for which their music also featured in) to seminal video game grand theft auto v (for which they helped to write the soundtrack). the group, led by edgar froese, have received seven grammy nominations, written over 100 studio albums and developed instantly recognisable synth-based instrumental music based on a meditative musical experience, that came to prominence in the 70s and 80s.
the new album, quantum gate features an updated, contemporary development of their trademark sound: sequencer-driven electronica covering a wide range of moods and atmospheres from ambient soundscapes to energetic, upbeat moments.

at the third new interplanetary melodies astral journey stopover, it was mandatory to catch an italian project deeply inspired by the sun ra visionary realm, expressing contemporary trials of hybridising jazz with artful electronica. so ra toth and the brigantes orchestra landed on vinyl grooves for the label, after having previously appeared on the likes of mathematics and berceuse heroique. behind the sound, we find the elusive and unpredictable genius of the well-respected producer marcello napoletano.
nim received the distorted sound signal from napoletano taken over by the egyptian deity born from the lips of ra. who knows if those noises were coming from a parallel dimension, outer space, or some otherworldly sphere...? submerged in dark bottom waters, the stormy waves of the acid sea are made of convulsive afro-flavoured percussion with sharp synths looming out like the ivories of some freakish abyssal creatures.
