2019 see s the pair land on strctr, a label with a reputation for delivering that sweet house music and das carma are in good company here with previous artists such as manooz, harrison bdp & liam geddes on the label. even the title of the ep shows the fondness between label & producers : str -> mrs (airport codes stands for stuttgart, germany from where the producers come from and marseille, france where the label is based). delivering a 4 track ep of original productions das carma show that sometimes a &#64258,,,ashy remixer is simply not needed. liftoff cloud 9 opens the ep with a warm &#64258,,,oating dreamlike track, ebbing and weaving beautifully throughout the course of the track. larry & frankie and subnautica keep the subtle refrains of the opener but bring the funk slightly more with bump-in garage drums turning these tracks into feel good lo-&#64257,,, burners. closing out the ep is dub101, here the guys waste no time in making the tracks intentions felt, skippy house drums and a big old slice of call & response from some heavy hitting dub chords - peak time tackle.

repress 2019 - all that jelly and no toast - like when you find a bomb tune that s unavailable on 12-. the new sublabel of smile for a while is exactly about this. clubby house music by well-established producers as well as from lesser-known guys. french guy alex agore opens the ep with the lowtone remix of -what did i do- - cut-up garage house to the maxx. max chapman from london delivers another belter, a bassline-driven organ house tune with a minimalistic but very effective set-up. oleg poliakov - aka skat and one of the guys behind circus company - comes up with a sublime but powerful tech house tune, in the original sense of the genre name. -jazzve- is a tune by russian producer mutenoise. it s maybe the most original, innovative tune on this ep. full of surprises and cutting-edge elements - hard to compare to anything else around these days.

2019 repress - this year kevin saunderson, ann saunderson and paris grey, collectively known as the legendary band inner city, release >future<, their first entirely new material since parting company in 2001, written and produced in collaboration with another detroit legend, namely kenny larkin. the track marks a welcome return for a group that combined the tough, futuristic grooves of the detroit scene with the vocal energy of r&b and gospel and helped to define the period in which house and techno moved from underground phenomena to top 10 material, paving the way for hundreds of dance hits to come. >future< is devastatingly catchy and highly emotional, exhibiting all the soulful flavours and qualities you would expect from these celebrated producers and singers. masterfully re-edited by carl craig this track ascends to a higher place whilst kenny larkin is on remix duties, beautifully reworking the original into a techno infused monster with intoxicating staccato vocals.

neck-snapping soul masterpiece from freddie scott, famously sampled by biz markie for his melancholic pop-rap hit �just a friend� and a surefire piano-driven basement party anthem in its own right. the work of the legendary producers gamble & huff, the track was also sampled by ghostface killah for the wonderful �save me dear� with jay dilla also utilising the crunching drums to lace many memorable productions for a tribe called quest and slum village. a peerless piece of deep soul and hip-hop history, here�s your chance to own the first ever officially licensed reissue on 45. on the flip, �powerful love� is uptempo guitar-soul with finger-popping swing. featuring delicate horns and gorgeous backing vocals, it�s an unfairly slept-on gem but, given the weight of the a-side, this is perfectly understandable. this special 7&#8243,, single comes housed in a heavy duty custom printed full-colour company sleeve and is limited to just 500 copies.

in the 80s, a nigerian dj named hycentto junior was notorious for making onitsha people dance on his grooves. soon, influenced by u.s hip-hop artists, he began rapping on top of the music he played. his eccentric style drew the attention of the biggest name, and the famous nkono teles decided to work with him on his next lp, mama groove. their project was released in 1991. due to unfortunate circumstances, the number of copies available was really low, making it very hard to find. more than 25 years later, working for a motor company, hycentto met online with french music passionate collective �lorem ipsum�, that had randomly found his mama groove lp. the result is a reissue auditioning all the 1991 mama groove�s tracks and two bonuses selected from his first 1984 album, at a party last night. the unique variety of sounds and genres, covering electro hip-hop, digi reggae and disco-funk, will carry you from poolside to late night dancefloors!

considered by many as -the motown of salsa,- fania records is probably the most transcendental label in the history of latin music. by bringing together the eclectic vision of dominican bandleader johnny pacheco with the business savvy of impresario jerry masucci, fania created a sound: the apex of tropical music, combined with the swing of big band jazz and the gritty vibe of american r&b. the label provided an artistic heaven for a young generation of musicians who were inspired to experiment with new musical formats. the albums recorded by willie colón, héctor lavoe, rubén blades and eddie palmieri from the early 70s to the mid- 80s went beyond the parameters of so-called -salsa- - taking latin music to unsuspected levels of sophistication. when you think latin soul you relate to a mélange of r&b and mambo rhythms intermixed culturally by and for the youth of america. it was 1974, and a brash youngster by the name of ralfi pagan walked into the offices of fania records and demanded to be heard. fania president jerry masucci allowed ralfi that opportunity, and ralfi auditioned for jerry right there in his office. it took only a few moments for masucci to realize that he was in the company of his newest recording artist, he put ralfi in touch with recording director, johnny pacheco, who hurried him into the recording studio for ralfi�s first fania recording session.

shaw cuts is happy to welcome a new face to the label squad: lazarus, a young producer from nuremberg, yields the perfect soundtrack for �the magic blade� with his debut record. the story begins with another clash between arch-rivals fu hung hsueh and yen-nan fei, two of the country�s most skilled swordsmen, both on a quest to number one. �rhea� sets the perfect tempo for the duel with its heavyweight drums, revolving percussion and energetic pads. clanking swords are interrupted by the arrival of shady company � followers of the mysterious underworld swayer sent by master yu who wants yen-nan fei�s head. fu hung hsueh and yen-nan fei join forces, slaying the villains in seconds. �reverof nema� rolls in, its commanding rhythm and moody chords giving the swordsmen new force and vitality. yu wants to eliminate the swordsmen so that they never gain possession of the peacock-dart, an indestructible weapon with thanatophoric effects and the object of yu�s desires. but fu hung hsueh and yen-nan fei have already picked up the scent. bloody battles follow against more of yu�s entourage. the race against time is led by the energetic synth delirium and savage drums of �casio flex�, leading hsueh and fei safely to the sublime weapon. the duo journey on, defending the peacock-dart until they reach yu�s temple. the final showdown. �overcome� and its warped groove, warm synths and thundering drums bring master yu to his knees and the netherworld. but who was master yu? was it you? the myth lives on�

in 1989, an italo-house act sueño latino released a self titled track, which went on to become one of the most revered electronic music records of all time. louis botella is now set to release a sensational remake on emerald city this september. the track itself samples part of manuel göttsching�s influential e2-e4, an album known for its role in the development of house and techno. fast forward to 2018 and the record is again set to be revived thanks to louis botella, and with the blessing and support of göttsching and expanded music. on his interpretation of the track, louis has stayed true to the original, replaying each part and adding an extra dimension to the tracks through a sparkling piano topline, a new vocal hook and dreamy arpeggiations. louis� passion for the art of djing was sparked from a young age. at sixteen he got his first gig at a club in luxemburg and released his first record in 1998. since then, he�s released on respected labels such as classic music company, ovum records and poker flat recordings.

rogue d is the new solo project from danny minchella. under this new moniker he delivers the eagerly awaited chains. set to be one of the biggest tracks of the year, its a high octane, club-ready number with abundant driving percussion. unstoppable force patrick topping is also back on home ground for the remix. chains was inspired by jamie 3:26s and cratebug�s edit of loretta holloway hit n quit - i wanted a simple, raw track, killer bassline and a soulful vocal. the process was very fast and i made the majority of the groove in one morning. i dug deep in my collection, looking for that special vocal and came across steve silk hurleys chain of fools (with aretha franklin on the original vocal), and it just made the record pop! - rogue d as an artist minchella has played some of the worlds most esteemed establishments and released on a wealth of high profile labels. he now aims to use his rogue d guise as a means to express his forward thinking and personal tastes in sound- from techno to old school garage to the sounds of detroit. he�s already released on dftd as well as providing a remix of soul claps misty on classic music company. in his relatively short career so far, label favourite patrick topping has made the cover of mixmag, won a coveted dj mag best of british award and made the resident advisor top 100 djs. hes released some of the biggest tracks on hot creations and is resident for jamie jones paradise at dc10. on his rework of chains, topping isolates the vocal and adds a tribal bounce to proceedings.

reissue of this early 90s czechoslovakian balearic style oddity. tip! jindrich parma originally created this record as a studio project on his own parma productions label in 91. the release was the debut of the musician karya , and although the singer has become fairly prolific, muz ze skla (the man of glass) remains an anomalous release in her catalogue. in fact, the song never actually featured the singer we know as karya today, and was solely the experiment of jind&#345,,ich and company. with a balearic house sound that never really had a parallel in the country, this remains a truly unique czechoslovakian record. reissued for the first time on a 12inch.
