having tamed last year s havoc and disparity into the damaged rapture of layers of reality, anthony linell is opening a new calendar with the sheared isolation of his latest album, a sense of order. linell has put his toolkit for summoning euphoria aside here, instead sculpting a glowing, diaphanous fog that swells into pensive melodies and arpeggiated whispers. graceful for the way in which it makes the bleak hospitable, the charm of coldness invites us toward the empty and the beautiful, and away from the miserable.

house heaven on 12-inch. a lofty description, but one that fits most excellent unlimited’s latest offering perfectly. in 1990, boy george and simon rogers (the fall) made a record called “generations of love” for george’s post-culture club project, jesus loves you. legendary nyc dj and producer bruce forest was one of several big names brought in to do a set of remixes, and the better days veteran got to work on several contrasting versions of the cut. the mixes heard here, done at london’s famed olympic studios, are slices of utter ecstasy for anyone who has a taste for ‘90s deep house euphoria and ambient dancefloor excursions, but were unfortunately lost amongst the countless alternate mixes. suffice to say, meu is taking matters into our own hands and has remastered and properly packaged these tracks, directly sourced from forest himself, with the full intention to give this erstwhile dollar-record the respect it deserves. the jazz mix opens with a winding piano solo by andy whitmore (spandau ballet, terence trent d’arby, soul ii soul) that lures the listener into a hypnotic groove that could quite comfortably go on forever but here is constrained by our modesty and the 12-inch format. (a tip for the adventurous dj: flipped to 33rpm the tune becomes an epic balearic chugger, a late-night psylocibic alternative for the heads.) the synth-heavy sounds of the ambient mix on the flip side harken back to the chill-out rooms of the ‘90s but twenty-some years later bring the best kind of vintage charm.

t-coy s carino - an all-time uk acid house classic from 1987. fusing the industrial clicking and whirring of the uk s post-industrial landscape with the lush, melodic, balearic inspired piano lines of the white isle and sucking us all in in the process. a true masterpiece courtesy of mancunians mike pickering, simon topping and the late ritchie close who s combined projects included quando quango, m-people, annette, a certain ratio and more. it s truly hard to believe this record is 30 years old. it can easily stand shoulder to shoulder with anything being released today. the b-side regret is also an amazing, minimal slice of punk-funky 808 driven niceness. super stripped back and with an innocent charm and poppy vibe it is the perfect foil to the latino house chaos of carino on the other side. one could argue that the a-side will take you up, and the b-side will bring you down (in the best possible way!). this classic has been legally reissued by above board distribution in conjunction with the legal rights holders sony music entertainment. this high quality repress features original 1987 deconstruction records label artwork and has been remastered from sony s original sources by optimum mastering, bristol uk.

dj koyote has long been a dab hand at discerning house music. thankfully, his latest offers more of the same. seeing the light of day on his own supergenius records imprint, france n trance sees the french producer perk up with no less than five original cuts, each of which boasts its own inimitable charm. opening up the release is the sounds of the title track. a melancholy effort full of warm, hazy vibes, its skipping, playful ethos is characterised by its twinkling, charming melodies. a smile-inducing track that s sure to prompt delirium on the floor, it gets us underway with some distinction. hey baby sees the producer opt for more uptempo strands. featuring a killer hip hop vocal sample and a series of off-kilter elements, it s a completely different proposition to what s come before - albeit one that emphasises the producer s knack for the unpredictable. just a young thing sees the producer hark bark to vintage chicago times with a jam that could well have been lifted from trax s back catalogue. full of booming kicks, claps and snares, this one plays out like a modern interpretation of a classic armando joint. the quite expertly names ladonna is an exercise is peak-time funk flavours, before business class sees us out the door with another track that suited to the night s most fervent moments. an industrial-tinged track of techno persuasions, it s a hot and heaving effort that s as likely to leave you in a cold sweat as it is reaching for the lasers. there s no doubt about it - koyote s latest is a triumph from the beginning to the end.

we are extremely happy to welcome malouane to our roster for this third release. the atmosphere of malouane is unique: raw, melodic and full of details with charm. -long way for the homies- will recall artists like mcde or rick wade, quite in the same vein: jazzy, soul and house. the second, -keep yo mama clean- very catchy too: drums, beautiful basses and small samples interact with each other. these elements work perfectly, because malouane has a real sense of musical arrangement, a real mastery of sampling. -this is supposed to be an outro- is the last track of the original tracks: it is a little slower than the others but a great wealth: a real charm and a true personality emerges from this piece. the multitude of details and, again, the mastery of the sample make it a piece as much club as listening. cody currie has proposed his own vision. the young english producer made a great remix by putting his style and clement’s together. finally, times are ruff also offers their reinterpretation of keep yo mama clean: softer and quite faithful to the atmosphere of this ep, with a small taste of chaos in the cbd, the dutch have done a remarkable job.

hot creations revive chicago’s ghetto house scene with pioneer dj funk and german producer rydim who deliver the pumping “ghetto booty”. a fitting addition to the release, miami’s jesse perez is on hand with solid remix.
the title track is a real throwback to the era of ghetto house with it’s straight up, stripped beats. rydim explains “this project is a dream for me! dj funk has always been my greatest hero in all things chicago. doing “ghetto booty” with charles was such a fantastic opportunity to bring all these energetic, uptempo chicago vibes to today’s dancefloors. it’s a bouncing, killer of a track! the other “easy as that” is more of a dj tool. it’s the result of my latest drum computer, swinging like only these little machines can.”
rydim has been stirring up dance floors and releasing records under a variety of pseudonyms since 2002. since his rydim alias began in 2013, he has delivered releases for an enviable roster of labels including hot creations, tsuba and pets recordings and his tours have included the electronic scene’s most prestigious clubs.
mr. nice guy records label owner jesse perez has released on labels like hot creations, i’m a house gangster, bpitch control and eats everything’s edible. his music always has a tongue in cheek charm and this latest remix is no exception, as he brings a heavy dose of funk and swing into the mix.

roberto aglieri is a noted italian flutist and composer, and his 1987 album ragapadani stands as one of his finest achievements. archeo recordings are ever hip to the finest treasures hidden away in the folds of esoteric music, italian or otherwise, and have done a great service in reissuing the album so that it might reach a wider audience. on this limited white marble edition of the album, aglieri s flute sounds haunting and evocative over the range of delicate synth treatments, largely orbiting the minimal realm but with a naive charm that makes the music wholly accessible at the same time. soothing, thoughtfully crafted music for tender times.

abschaum is a rock band from lyon, incredibly good, which is trying to keep the mystery on their identity. sacha met them last year when they played an improvised concert at heart of glass, heart of gold, a festival in the middle of france, and felt under the charm of the energy of the band... few months later they recorded this lp, and what the fuck !! this was just mindblowing !! macadam mambo is presenting here one of its best release, in the influence of bands such as can, amon duul 2oralainbashung... abschaum will be on tour from october till the end of the year, so if you have the chance to see them playing don t miss it!

a complex web – the story of dive position and the shining path ... began in 1982 when peter miller (aka dr. william s ray – vocals, tapes, guitar) met andrew millar (aka maurice spectograph the nose-y pieman – program execution) in gold coast, australia. while sharing a similar taste in music, they decided to form a band, so dive position was born. equipped with a korg synthesiser and tascam 4-track recorder, they -wanted to have the sound of kraftwerk, the groove of can, and the menace of throbbing gristle-, ending up with -a cross of suicide and the residents-, as peter recalls. in a local record shop they met stig andre leonardson (aka vincent blackshadow), who joined the duo on percussion and drum machine programming. their motto was -now is then-. dive position then became the fatal charm around 1984, and the fatal charm became the shining path who eventually released their only album -basic training manual- in an edition of only 250 copies, most probably in 1986. the band then started to drift apart, and shortly after andrew sadly passed away – this compilation -now is then- comprised of previously unreleased dive position and the shining path material is dedicated to his memory.

dominique lawalree (b. 1954) is a composer born and based in brussels. first meeting is lawalree s first archival release to date. culled from four different albums originally self-published on his private label editions walrus, circa 1978-1982, this compilation highlights the composer s unique sense of ambient and minimal composition. originally considered for release on brian eno s obscure records, lawalree s music is now no longer hidden. in this collection the listener finds the sounds of piano, synthesizers, percussion, wurlitzer, organ, and voice, all performed by lawalree. using these tools dominique creates miniature themes that gallop across the speakers in slow motion, stretching our normal sense of dynamics and color, effortlessly widening the stereo plane. on musique satieerique dominique pays homage to the influence of satie with simple repeated piano figures and a lush field of organs and flutes. and on other selections, like -le maison des 5 elements,- he takes a more wistful, ambient approach, layering keyboard lines, and invoking found/tape sounds to create a hypnogogic world of his own. childlike in its playfulness and surreal to the bone, the music spins like a carrousel placed inside the rothko chapel. lawalree s sense of timbre, tone, and overarching composition is like an impression of a home movie whose charm lies in its knowledge of intimacy, shared by few? an incantation of innocence. a quiet, understated music that is both touching and elegant gavin bryars

light in the attic reissues their impossible to find 1969 album, originally out on third world recordings ! 5 on kurt cobains top 50 favorite albums. philosophy of the world is a collection of garage rock tunes that balanced charm and discordance in equal measure. in 1968, three sisters from fremont, new hampshire strapped on their instruments and declared themselves the shaggs. at that moment begun a peculiar tale that would last far beyond the groups five-year run. dot, betty and helen (and occasionally rachel, the fourth sister) played in the group on the insistence of their father, austin wiggin jr., who was convinced they were going to be big. years earlier, austins mother gave him a palm reading, predicting that her son would marry a strawberry blonde woman, that he would have two sons after his mother died, and that his daughters would form a popular music outfit. the first two became reality, so austin was certain the third would follow suit.

bar musica is a brand new label that promises to inject plenty of charm and originality into the underground house and techno world. the first release kicked up quite a storm from label owner bartolomeo, and the second release features a trio of great originals by j paraguai, with a remix from long time electronic talent bruno pronsato. rumba is up first and is a full fat, corrugated house track with tribal percussion, punchy drums that swing down low and afro vocals. it is a dynamite groove with roughshod tin pot hits that are carefully treated and bring a lovably wild side to the track. thesoundsays founder and berlin based new yorker bruno pronsato has been on the fringes of the underground for more than a decade with inventive eps and lps on labels like hello? repeat and bosconi. his remix is stripped back to a forceful and rubbery techno groove. blistered synths rip up the middle and spooky voices, trippy effects and manic loops all make it a freaky late night or after-hours tune that will send floors wild. ble is then another j paraguai, and this one is again unhinged and urgent, with intense synths exploding above shuffling, tightly knotted minimal drums and sweeping pads. it’s pure wtf music for brave djs and dancers and is a truly original production. then last original atles is rugged and impactful in the way in combines house and techno into new ideas. it is stripped back to little chopped loops that bury deep in your brain and have you in a trance in no time. as such, it rounds out a fine ep and keeps this exciting new label going off in great style.

with his project fred und luna musician rainer buchmüller (sugar ray buckmiller) from karlsruhe, germany is paying tribute to his favourite electronic oriented music by using its characteristics like repetition and beautiful melodies, putting them in a contemporary context and preserving their subtle and seductive charm. fred und luna play their self described elektrokraut (concerning songs that are basically kraut mixed with electronic elements) and krautelektro (which is elektro mixed with kraut elements). they live in karlsruhe which, like düsseldorf, lies next to the river rhine. perhaps karlsruhe is the new (neu) düsseldorf, with fred und luna (as pioneers/vanguard).

the prolific producer shows he still has plenty of tricks up his sleeve across all four cuts and stitches in acid, jack and chicago styles with his own sense of charm. the kings comes hard and fast out of the blocks with big hits, wild synths and raved-up vibes that will have you punching the air. knowledge is another banger with powerful kicks and globular bassline run through with more ravey sirens, but this time is a little more haunted. crossing paths is all about a simple but effective bassline that bounces along and takes you with it in ways similar to an omar s joint, then wait is the most stripped back and mysterious of the lot with cosmic melodies panning about in a spacious and airy deep house groove. utterly timeless from start to finish, this is another massively effective offering from innershades.
