labelfounder insect o. is back with a 3 track vinyl release of his handcrafted dub techno sound. but there is always more to discover. sandstones starts with field recordings he took at the sandstone mountains of saxony switzerland national park while hiking during the pandemic. back in the studio he layered it on top of spicy chords, beautiful pads and a shuffling groove. but it is this melancholic organ that gives big emotions to the track. the second track is named after a famous little bass synthesizer. volca dub was recorded 10 years ago. it was sitting on the hard disc, waiting for the perfect moment to get finished and released. the chords of the korg volca bass are heavily modulated and tranched into swirling tape delays with a rumbling sub bass underneath. just like dub should sound. the final track everlasting he recorded live in one take on his modular synthesizer. it starts with the rolling bassline by a buchla inspired dual oscillator. a dreamy melody and melancholic chords are fading in. filter pings are providing clicky drums while white noise from the moog dfam is playing a polyrhythmic snare. pitch shifting echoes and a dreamy reverb are gluing the sounds together. it makes you remember the past and think about the future. just like memories do. and some memories last forever.

the fourth release of selva discos is one that has been bursting audiences into flames for a good while. barbatuques, a well-known brazilian group of body percussionists, adapted -baiana&#769,,,,,,,,,,,,- back in 2005 (first released on the -o seguinte e&#769,,,,,,,,,,,, esse- album) and since then it became a staple of their concerts, getting crazy reactions from the children to the elder, being featured on soundtracks and sampled by trap duo tropkillaz. the original is a modern folk song from bahia composed by maria do carmo barbosa, but it was the mouth harp sound and the stomping beat on the barbatuques arrangement that imprinted its trademark sound - like the first lightning strikes before the storm. a couple of years ago, jan schulte, the german producer known for his taste for tropical drums (and also for using a few different aliases), heard the song and decided to add an extra punch to it for his dj sets: more drums, taken from a library record of -drumdrops- (hence the title). in his appearance at 2017 s dekmantel boiler room stage as bufiman, he dropped it to the crowd s awe, and it s been like that wherever its played - believe it, it s been tested all around. so now for the first time -baiana&#769,,,,,,,,,,,,- is issued on vinyl. it marks the second volume of the brasingles series, a new series on selva discos dedicated to releasing loud 12- singles with the original song on the a side and a rework on the b side, to please both the dj and the listener.

repress , strong contender for dance record of the year- red rack’em’s incredibly wonderful and fantastically wonky, disco banger, was rereleased on classic this year. after a few months of slowly embedding itself in people subconscious, it returns with new mixes. first up in the marvellously talented kink - strahil is no stranger to classic, having made a stamp on the label many years ago with his remix 3rd face. he s gone from strength to strength with his productions which have been accompanied by his glorious live performances. kink goes in, heads down with some proper techno wonk. this is indeed a beast. on the flip luke solomon joins forces with bristol’s very own eats everything and lord leopard, creating a bristol “circle of three.” the luke eats leopard edit adds a slight bit of conformity to the drums and the arrangement, without taking out too much of the wonk but taking it ever so slightly into “house “ territory. overall this is a monstrously wonky package - and just in time for xmas too.

it is one year ago that mathias kaden presented a very personal journey to his musical roots in the shape of an album called energetic. equally as long he has been out in the world as a live act - with some large analogous luggage and the same joy of performing with which he had won many hearts as a dj on the dancefloor beforehand. after the first batch of remixes (among others by michael mayer and redshape) there are now following further revisions of three of the albums tracks.

dub at its best. 180g! primary colours secondary series returns for 2021 with the ninja of the deep, the minimal, the dark, lurking in the shadows. with honour we present altone. altone has been on our radar for quite some time now, following his progress with releases on fellow dub labels etui, greyscale, hello strange, ranges, spclnch, apnea and cold tear. we were presented with these cuts of dub over a year ago, waiting for the right opportunity to release these weapons upon the world, a world ready for change, thought, progress and understanding. altone presents three cuts of pure deep dub. altone presents effuse, slight pain and grain. choosing the right person to do justice with a remix was a difficult process. we scoured the planet to find the right producer to compliment and do honor to the beautiful original that is effuse. a man no stranger to our family, we welcome upwellings for his debut on primary colours. upwellings remix takes the elements of the original and fuses them together with a hypnotic, low end driven masterpiece. a track for the early mornings, among the late night warriors. 2021 is the start of a new chapter and primary colours is pleased to be back presenting tunes of depth and feeling to the new world. expect more.

written a few years ago, black pigeon is one of fonoms first produced tracks. freshly re-mastered in 2018, the track emerges as the first release of the new producers self-run label fonos. the original engulfs in deep and dark tones with synthesizer orchestrations vividly portraying talk, communication and agonizing cry of cybernetic pigeons, while the other tracks are variations of the original as reworked by eduardo de la calle. the remixer employs jazz elements to introduce further variety of rhythm and sense of floating through time while exploring monotones, layering and space in other parts of his two remix version work with thematic hints and references to space flights aboard the >nostromo<.
