since its release last year, the grammy nominated album louie vega starring…xxviii has reached unfathomable heights, after 8 single vinyl releases and two full triple set album releases, we still have one more up our sleeve. today, here we are in the third and final installment of the louie vega starring…xxviii vinyl album release series, this time taking it to another level with unreleased and lost mixes. when making an album there are usually way more than the number of songs allocated for the project. in this case there were over 50 songs and tracks created for the louie vega starring…xxviii album. vega has selected 14 unreleased and lost tracks from the recordings and put together dj friendly versions with these super talented artists involved: funkadelic, nick monaco & soul clap, kenny bobien, cindy mizelle, maphorisa, berita, wanda baloyi & kabomo (south african top talent), roberto roena (of the fania all stars), brutha basil, jesse jackson (blues rock artist), sara devine, luis salinas (argentinean guitarist), duane harden (song/hitmaker), & 3 winans brothers featuring the clark sisters. the packaging is lovely with an open gatefold huge picture of a mural painted by none other than richard wilson uk artist. mastering by the great walter coelho, for sonic perfection & pressing manufactured by optimal in germany.

pacific horizons are outliers, largely unconcerned with much that goes on beyond their la studio. immersed in their own universe of sound, the pair cherry pick from genres to create their own raw, lo-fi take on what, if you must pin it down, can be defined as loosely balearic. the duos sound calls on various eras of pyschedelia through the years. from the scene s roots to the very modern but always circles back to the initial shamanic intention of mind altering ritual. drawing heavily on the raw and rugged west coast for inspiration they posses a sound entirely indigenous to their locality and peers. this stark individuality has brought the project to the attention of such seminal characters as francois k, andrew weatherall and david mancuso. pacific horizons are drawn back down to earth again by deus records for a rare excursion away from their pacific wizard foundation imprint, teeing up one side of an exclusive 7-. on remix duty peaking lights provide the perfect foil. the fellow west coast artists are kindred spirits in pushing against the norm but here bring some order to the release, segueing the raw ideas into a their own blissful, rolling balearic experience. equal parts melancholia and euphoria, burning stars dub version is entirely complimentary to the original track, giving space and structure to some of the more volatile elements of the original. anything pacific horizons put their name to exists to revel in the purity and energy of the original moment of creation, little if any editing is done once the song is whole, making them the perfect artists for this limited edition release full of spontaneity and ideas. pressed on 7 inch white vinyl in full picture sleeve.

earth trax is kruczynnski s take on strictly club material, yet channeling the very same baltic melancholy he uses in his other projects. following on from his 12inchs on rhythm section and dopeness galore, his phonica 12inch begins with lavventura, a deep yet glittering house production with a piano led melody we couldn’t get enough of, so we present two versions across the a-side. the main version is preceded by a fantastic dub version, shades of kerri chandler shine through on this one! on the flip his otherworldly interpretation of house and techno continues with nokturn and hg, both pad-rich, ethereal productions of the highest quality that perfectly compliment the a-side and round out the record in style.

the silverlining dubs series marches on with this set of three rare remixes by the south londoner. the a-side features silverlining s outright monster of a dub of the inhabitants -the truth and a lie- with jayson walker of vocals, followed by the warm baseline heavy groove of g-spot by tokyo s dog with the groove lights and on the flip, a whole side dedicated to his highly sought-after remix of the mingers. together this cooks up one swirling broth of straight up underground house music with sprinklings, in equal measures, of intellect and party spirit!

chicagoan artist vincent floyd has been releasing music for 27 years now. with stand-out records for the legendary dance mania and some more recent outings through amsterdam connaisseurs rush hour recordings, vincent floyd crafted a 4-track package of original cuts, which will be released as the seventh instalment in the pulp series. the vigorous sounds of “circles (dub)” consist out of loose percussion, piercing synth work and a snappy vocal that cuts through at just the right moments. in the classic style of a sizable amount of dance records throughout the earlier days of dancefloor-music, an instrumental version of “circles” is including on the a2 position. “skewed reality” is an extravert piece of music that revolves around an emotive synth lead and nicely timed drums with a very human feel to them. the soothing pads form the back bone of this journey through exalted melodies. “morning storm” serves as the pulp07 grand finale. in this cut vincent again showcases his ability to mould many melodic elements into a cohesive sounding piece of music. “morning storm” is a bright piece of work with delicate melodies and beautiful playful drum patterns.

two years on from their move to berlin, british brothers alex & digby return with a 10 track, triple lp album to their home imprint flash as a rat on the 19 june. the album is said to show the duos full commitment to sound and experimentation after being written during a very personal time to them both. the album title -for my process” echoes this. coming form a engineering background as well as being know for their modular wizardry and band based upbringing, expect band psychedelia with dance sensibility.

killer roots on both sides, perfect companion to his sings songs- album! double sided heavyweight roots 10inch from the late gladdy anderson. made around the same time as his killer sings songs for today and tomorrow lp (now back in stock, click here!), here again are two killer tracks with gladdys sweet vocals over hard riddims from his band the roots radics. the a-side made the rounds as a dubplate first, then the vocal and dub ended up on different albums, while the b-side saw release as a single and an album track in extended format.

born roy samuel reid in saint thomas in 1944, i roy was one of jamaicas all-time greatest deejays. a natural-born toaster, his rhyming raps always sounded effortless, whether describing the harsh realities of the inner city, or making light of nonsense nursery rhymes. a former employee at customs and excise, he was first active on a sound system called soul bunnies in the rock steady era, moving to son’s junior in 1968, and later, to the legendary supreme ruler of sound, defecting to the rival stereo sound system after that. hits for harry mudie and other producers soon followed, and after the killer debut album presenting i roy impacted overseas, the toaster began spending frequent periods in london. his longstanding working relationship with hit-making producer bunny lee led to some of his most noteworthy albums during the mid 1970s, the 1977 set cant conquer rasta is a superb showcase-style album, on which the toaster blows hard lyrics over five of lees killer rockers rhythms (recorded with the likes of johnny clarke), each complete with a corresponding aggrovators dub on the flip, all mixed by prince jammy at king tubbys studio
