after the highly anticipated release of his third studio album decay, efdemin presents the first part of a remix series featuring his favourite producers. bristols underground hero asusu inflates the reduced album opener some kind of up and down yes with deepest bass and beautiful scapes to the max in a true photek-style. last years control by staffan linzatti was one of the favourite constants to be played in every efdemin or lawrence set. luckily his version of solaris is another epic hymn here with futuristic enhancements of the third kind.the most extraordinary piece on decay versions part 1 is the borderland states rework of parallaxis. efdemins studio-mate john gürtler recorded that beauty with adding acoustic instruments only and sounds like a meeting of moondog with wim mertens.

keeping in line with the trademark birdsmakingmachine sound, comes the fifth release on their self-entitled label, bmm 004. with a more straight-to-the-point approach than its predecessor, the ep starts off on the dance floor, with rumbling bass lines and heavy metallic snares juggling with effects-laden delicacies on the a1s >ahora vengo<. the arrival of >ash but not arthur< on the a2 calms things down bit and takes the listener for a gentle journey through ambient pads and cleverly swinging hi hats, while on the flip, things get a little more bouncy in >oscars critical jack<, which is mostly due to the fact its main ingredient – the solid playful bass line – blends effortlessly with the higher frequency spices, keys, strings and rhythmic parts. the end credits roll down with >bonfume<, another relatively smooth yet jacking swinger that could either be used to kick it up a notch in a warm-up set or be danced to while finding yourself at an afterhour.

mystical and proper techno! -marbacka- is a song originally written and composed by marbacka for one of their side projects, -the marbacka side project-. it was later made famous by another recording artist, who covered the song and released it as the second single from hen second studio album. however, not until this artist recorded and produced the version along with $ it become a worldwide hit. a music video, which has been described as iconic, was shot and received heavy rotation. its feelings explore an abandoned lover s point of view. on this special edition -marbacka- is surrounded by previously unreleased material and reworks.

nicole has returned to drumcode all guns blazing with her new bittersweet ep. the a-side i know where ive been, is a deep rolling techno machine that uses a constant building percussion loop that eventually explodes into some serious funky signature moudaber techno! bittersweet is a techno belter that uses a hypnotic synth rhythm that will take the listener into another world. the repetitive claps induce a flurry of energy and excitement whilst supported by the crisp highs.

french producer voiski returns to l.i.e.s. with another 12 inch of his diverse and refreshing style of techno. spanning across the board we get epic dramatic builds, post shuffle headnodders and floor crushing sub-bass grooves over these three tracks. guaranteed to cause major damage wherever and whenever this record is played.
