since 2010, jackie house aka jacob sperber has been driving the a&r side of the san francisco dance-music troupe running the hnytrx label and producing remixes with other members under the honey name. putting label duties on hold in 2013 sperber cocooned into his music studio, entering as a brave brunette and exiting as an ambitious blonde. * stydive * is jackie s debut to wax and has as much house-party in it as it does warehouse 4am. with a vocal sample nod to punk s past, * stydive* pogo dances to dusty and stuttering live/analog drum rhythms and skips along a rude and infectious bass-line. bound to find lovers of all persuasions for its dub-esque qualities, instantly recognizable hook, and open relationship with house music, this tune begged to have it s own side. that said, there is always room for some matrixxman who takes stydive to a strobe lit south of market darkroom in his remix on the b. spurting erotic lazers around a cavernous kick, this tune finishes off even the most experienced edger.

over the past years bézier has seen releases under the dark entries record imprint with the most recent telomeres ep this year. the title track &#30342,,,, or pronounced * mina* translates from japanese to * everyone*. mina is a journey through space with the initial ascent marked by a moody window of time in which uncertainty dominates the mindset of the passengers. once they break through the atmosphere and are proceeding as planned they land on the final destination, an interplanetary discotheque. mina was recorded this year with mark pistel on the helms for mixing and features sf drummer kevin woodruff of tussle fame providing live drumming for the last portion of the track. along with the title track the b-side includes tracks previously released on compilations but appear here for maximum record playing enjoyment. * serengeti drive* which appeared on honey soundsystems earlier hnytrx compilation of queer dancefloor artists is the slow burner of the group. * mysteries of the deep* which appeared in the jacktone cassette compilation of bay area electronic stars is the soundtrack to an underwater expedition. both tracks were recorded, produced and mixed by robert in his home sf studio in 2009.

alex niggemann s aeon label mirrors the peak time djs sets that the supremely talented berliner plays, staying focused on conjuring up the spirit of classic and timeless house and techno, updating it and cre- ating new boundless possibilities for the future. since launching the label in 2013 alex has been gradually building a family of like-minded creative individuals to keep the aeon ethos moving ever forward.

charolastras are a group of experimental electronic musicians with a keen interest in ancient rituals involving dance. in many cultures from the past, music and dance were closely tied with shamanism, spirituality and even combat. these traditions continue today in some parts of the world where music isnt solely for entertainment, as is often the case in our modern western society. the group s goal is to spread a message of peace and unity with their music. this intention is evident in the blissful ethereal textures used in their mellifluous productions. but their sound can also have a harder edge that evokes conflict, not calm. this is all by design because, as charolastras like to point out, sometimes you have to fight for peace .

f.s. blumm aka frank schültge from berlin has been making marvelous music for many years now. be it solo like on his latest album (pingipung in 2013) as part of the subtle folk-duo -bobby & blumm- or as a sound- scape researcher at the side of nils frahm. but even though f.s. blummbastic sees the light of day for the very first time in this release, the combina- tion of dub and blumm is not new: he is part of the quasi dub development (qdd). the collective around blumm and luca fadda from new york recently released the album -little-twister vs stiff-neck- with features by lee scratch perry or lady ann on pingipung in 2014. these -riddims and biscuits- came to live during the creation of material for future qdd-concerts. f.s. blummbastic played all instruments himself, rhythm guitar, organ and of course bass to send the results the the colleagues in new york. soon it was clear: these riddims have the most impact in their reduced form. theyd like to stand alone and get played back loudly. for the drums f.s. blummbastic brought helmut erler aka hey from hey-Ø-hansen into the qdd cosmos. not only did he bang the drums, but he has also mixed, mastered and cut the vinyl of this album.

after seducing people around the world with the future classic into the sun on local talks oneoffs label and footwork anthems on don t believe released on studio barnhus it s now time to present daybreak or as tooli described the track the first time he heard it -it s like listening to deep burnt part 2-. perhaps it was the jetlag (tooli arrived in nyc the very same day henry sent it) or the fact that it s a straight forward deep track with lush strings and no fuzz included. it s up to you to decide. for remix duties label boss tooli was brave enough to have a go himself and recorded some piano chords and strings. on the flip is where the real magic happens - parkway records head honcho mark seven, considered by many as a dj s dj and mighty fine producer, delivers a remix that takes you on a journey and a half. it s deep, got tons of percussions and lures you into afro territory. if body and soul was still around this one would peak on a sunday afternoon.

berlin atonal is proud to pick up on a tradition begun in 1984 with the publication of two volumes of live recordings from the 1983 edition of the festival. those records bore witness to the most inventive, adventurous sounds of the festival, and therefore of their time, containing live bits from psychic tv, la loora and zev. berlin atonal vol. 3 carries this custom forward three decades with selections from four of the standout performances of berlin atonal 2014. of course cabaret voltaire�s lauded and historical ?rst show in over 20 years is featured, richard h kirk�s no-nostalgia and machinery driven set ?rmly putting the cabaret voltaire project in a future-facing direction. miles whittakers surprising and muscular live performance also contributes a cut, as does festival favourite fis with his characteristically lumpy, textural soundscapes.

released for the first time on vinyl is max richter�s emotive and minimal score to damon lindelof�s tv series about a post-apocalyptic global event where 2% of the world�s population disappears without explanation. richter�s approach explores the feelings of the protagonist�s family, the garveys, through intimate, small scale music. he tackles this psychological landscape by bringing a ritual quality to the score, while themes of departure and loss are represented by a sense of sonic decay, relying on the instrumentation of a few sustained tones on pianos, harps and celesta. max richter is a classically trained composer that defies boundaries. trained at the royal academy of music and finishing his studies under the tutelage of avant-garde composer luciano berio in florence, richter�s career has followed many paths. his musical output ranges from ballets (wayne macgregor�s infra), reinventions of classical works (vivaldi�s four seasons), collaborations with the future sound of london, roni size and vashti bunyan to writing scores for film and tv (waltz with bashir, lost and found, last days on mars) and solo work (memoryhouse, the blue notebooks, 24 postcards in full colour).

�love will remember pharaon de winter� is said at the end of the record. pharaon de winter was a painter from north of france, who lived from the end of the xixth century to the beginning of the xxth century. today, pharaon de winter is reappearing again. it�s a band, but also the name of a song, which changed everything for his author. past leader of both bands toy fight and (please), maxime chamoux was playing since now a genre between north american rock of spoon and neutral milk hotel, and sophisticated british pop from prefab sprout or xtc. we find today in this new project songs navigating between french, for most part, and english. partners and friends since a long time, thomas pirot at the drums and raphael ankierman at the bass are playing alongside fx guéant-mata at the guitar. we also find mina tindle and her delicate voice appearing here and there. at last we don�t forget the goldsmith�s talent of canadian musician sandro perri who�s joining the band, highly recommended by pitchfork magazine with his album impossible spaces in 2011.
