daniel brandt, co-founder of acclaimed german ensemble brandt brauer frick, is set to release his second solo album for london imprint erased tapes on october 12th. titled channels, the new record follows the release of the london and berlin based producer’s solo debut eternal something from 2017. the seven-track lp is brandt’s biggest statement yet, with the album’s thrilling avant-garde framework interweaving chord-driven techno, orchestral flourishes, rich electronic textures and hints of dark cinematic pop. following on from eternal something, which captured a contemplative kind of isolationism, with channels brandt set out to create an album that captures the essence of minimalism whilst lending it to a more playful context. after performing and recording steve reich’s six pianos in a group of six, brandt began regularly composing long meditations on the piano, something that permeates the sound of the new record. its frenetic energy and shape-shifting identity was also born out of touring with his new band eternal something — comprised of brandt on piano, drums and synthesisers, pascal bideau on guitar and bass, plus florian juncker on trombone — and a desire to translate both the sound and spiritual unity of their live shows in which musicians locked together to create an intriguing meld of expansive works.

punks are back! after a stunning debut in 2017 these guys are returning with new material. this record was influenced by the latest events connected with governmental issues with russian club culture - raids, shutdowns of clubs and major festivals. damage was inflicted on our beloved clubs and festivals such as outline, arma17, rabitza. we admire our neighbors who fought for their houses and managed to protect them: ukrainian closer, british fabric and georgian bassiani.
this is a message about a sincere wish to save equality and independence. there’s no place for political games in our cultural life. only freedom matters.

for those familiar with the infamous birmingham techno movement, makaton is someone who needs little introduction. for those that arent, the brummie producer is the head of the inimitable rodz-konez and has seen himself showcase his cut-throat techno on seminal labels such as token and blueprint. his first contribution for voitax came at the end of 2017, with iconic dance floor slayer around the throat, which went straight for the jugular on the voi 010 v/a. a good half a year on and we get immaculata - makatons full debut ep for voitax. early support by ancient methods, and, anosme, anastasia kristensen, dave clarke, drumcell, electric indigo, henning baer, inigo kennedy, kangding ray, kwarz, manni dee, matrixxman , marcel dettmann, mark broom, phase fatale, pfirter, rebekah, ruffhouse, stephanie sykes, surgeon, swarm intelligence, svreca, tommy four seven, umwelt and many more.

we are very happy to announce the 13th release of cabrera with two special remixes from the label boss, j.c., “vertigo” record that came out in the summer of 2017. side a comes with a special shed rework. rene is a huge influence for us and we are thrilled to have him on our catalogue. keeping the essence of the original, he made a proper raw dub techno banger. on the flip side, kastil, already part of the family, took “nyame” in a whole other level and made a fresh blend of fierce techno.

the next installment in cold diamond & mink’s soul investigations introduces a three part harmony group from california. “my my my baby” is a smoking hot group harmony groover that should drop a few jaws at your next dj set. thee baby cuffs was born out of love for soul music and chicano culture. their first 45 “where did our pride go”, came out in 2017 on the raza del soul label, covering an unsung early 70’s larry saunders production. “my my my baby” continues on the same lane of midtempo soul over funky drums and soulful horn lines. the lyric is your middle of the road love song material, but the group harmony lifts it right off the ground like it’s meant to happen in this kind of music. get a few copies and rock the instrumental on the b-side before dropping the vocal, if you feel like it. soul music that’s this potent is better enjoyed in excess.

after labels debut in 2017, the second transmission is coming from life notes recordings. french producer life recorder is going further with his new motion process id shaping a way to present another side of his music maybe darker but always showing love for emotional pads and atmospheres and willing to share something behind the music. -outside the algorithm- presents 3 new deep techno tracks born from moods and feelings and here a reaction towards a music/art scene nowadays often ruled by social medias algorithms, image and egos. technology can help us on the way even sometimes building bridges with the offline world but we have to reflect and preserve ourselves from wrong feelings and frustrations built from the digital era.

crotocosm is an occasional collaboration between jordan gcz (lushlyfe, off minor) and willie burns (black deer, wt records). tracks were recorded together live in amsterdam and brooklyn between 1996 and 2017 its a tip!

ltd to 275 copies - for the eighth release on roberto’s fossil archive imprint, a very special collaboration which was produced by roberto and the late trevino (aka marcus intalex) shortly before his tragic passing in 2017 is poised. the release features three original cuts, along with a previously unreleased remix roberto put together of ‘black cat’ which featured on trevino’s album ‘front’. the music speaks for itself. however, to honour marcus, a short poem has been put together by one of his closest friend’s.

by now, the story of how jlin went from working in a steel factory in gary, indiana to being one of the most widely appreciated electronic musicians is well known. “black origami” was one of the most lauded albums last year. seriously prolific and seriously hard-working, she has toured constantly since its may 2017 release and despite being involved in a wide range of projects, still manages to find a balance and time to “do some personal healing and growing.”
here we are over a year later with “autobiography,” the score for her collaboration with renowned british choreographer wayne mcgregor (a collaboration arranged by krakow’s unsound). this isn’t technically her third album (that’s due to arrive in 2019 or 2020), but the soundtrack stands up on its own with all the emotional peaks and troughs of a well-sequenced lp.

jovonn returns to his body ndeep label to release the album timeless, his first since blaque house released on code red back in 2009. with releases on such labels as clone, apollonia and dogmatik the last few years, jovonn set up his body ndeep label in 2017 to release tracks from himself and other like-minded producers. the album focusses on the deeper side of house and jovonns trademark new jersey house sound, with contributions by patrick mangan (violin) on hesperia soul and cassioware on turnin me out.

helsinki’s we jazz records launches a new series of live recordings, the -we jazz live plates-, offering a closer look into the label’s live activities. the first installment of the series is a recording from berlin captured in october 2017. the six-tracker features black motor, bowman trio and jaska lukkarinen trio offering two potent slices of raw live jazz each. all of the compositions herein are previously unreleased or new arrangements.
the album -berlin 27.10.17- was recorded at club monarch located in berlin’s kottbusser tor during the second annual scope festival (a collaborative effort of berlin’s xjazz and we jazz). the dense atmosphere of the packed club is present in the recordings which showcase three major acts from the vibrant finnish scene. musically, the album ranges from the undeniable swing of jaska lukkarinen trio’s -roger- and bowman trio’s -the hillary step- to the scorching updated version of black motor’s -branches-, subtitled here as -berliner musik-.
the -we jazz live plates- series offers an easy access into the label’s live productions via simple yet elegant lp packaging in plain cardboard sleeve with a postcard featuring the full download added inside.

it was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now – anthony burgess, a clockwork orange after their lps “ike yard” (also known as “a fact a second” factory america, 1982) and nord (phisteria and desire, 2010) ike yard delivers their last album “rejoy” on noiztank, 2018 as the culmination of their recent years reinvented sound. as the perpetual flag bearers of the cutting-edge post-punk spirit, the nyc- based band shows muscle in a lp fully loaded with abrasive synth pads, scrap metal percussions, and whispered vocals. following the previous criteria of “sacred machine” 2017, it is worth to remark the inclusion of external vocals in the pieces “sister m” and “beyondersay”, which feature yuki osaki and maya. the nine tracks move through different atmospheres, tensions and moods that would perfectly represent a new contemporary soundtrack of the s. kubrick film “a clockwork orange”, a major influence and source of inspiration for the group this time around.

italian sound artist giulio aldinucci drops his 2nd album on karl: “disappearing in a mirror” is again a truly masterfully composed and sound-designed ambient masterpiece and a more than worthy follow-up to the critically acclaimed “borders and ruins” which made it onto several year’s best lists for 2017.

originally released as a limited run cassette on low jacks editons gravats label in 2017, we now get an official vinyl pressing via l.i.e.s. krikor kouchian serves this killer soundtrack to the documentary arabie saoudite: les liaisons dangerousness where the french tv program focuses on the saudi royal familys support of wahhabism and the wests appeasement of saudi foreign policy, kouchian underlines and accentuates the content with a brooding blend of mirage-like electronics and minimalist drum machine geometries. a deviation from his previous works and he moves into appropriately darker synth territory with this one.

horrorfilm “the johnsons” was one of the biggest productions of 1992 in the netherlands. the film won international acclaim and became a cult classic in the u.s. and japan, yet failed to make an impact on the dutch cultural landscape. or so it was thought... 25 years later, the celebrated documentary “xangadix lives!” (bram roza & yfke van berckelaer, 2017), shines a new light on the untold story behind the film’s troubled production and the legacy it left behind... “xangadix lives!” the original motion picture soundtrack, is composed by award winning producer and deformer initiator, mike redman. it’s now available on limited edition blood splattered vinyl. get it now, because when we say limited edition, we mean limited edition!

the flamboyant and off-kilter title track from rones latest album, mirapolis is one of the last solo tracks that the producer composed in the spring of 2017: its one of the rare tracks on the album for which i thought about the live performance. while putting the final touches to it in the studio, i imagined myself at festivals via memories of previous tours. i wanted to record a festive track, which completely stands by its funfair vibe. with this new four-track ep (including three remixes), combined with a new video by aurélie castex, rone extends the carnival of electronic cultures of his latest musical citadel to the dancefloor – and our screens. johannes brecht, shadow craftsman of the hamburg label diyanamics studios, offers a refined reading throbbing with cerebral pulsations. appropriating the main theme in a subtle way, coated with multiple harmonic layers, his textures alternate white noise with organic basses that builds up to a delightfully classical cello outro. german-based figurehead of the south american scene, comeme label boss and founding member of the late closer music project, matias aguayo, has never ceased throughout his career to set off little revolutions on the planet of demanding dancefloors. playful and wild, aguayo sweeps in with a ritornello of chiptune sounds and orchestral arrangements, washing it over with a huge wave of analog synthesizers that destroys everything in its path. french techno scene boss laurent garnier embraces the original piece in all its meticulousness and its psychedelic lifeblood. a hypnotic and mischievous loop infiltrates itself without warning into the reptilian cells of the listeners brain.

hailing from wellington, aotearoa, the land of the long white cloud, scent is a newcomer to the scene but long time gc of modern hypnosis. his first sighting featured a track ‘devils dread’ on indigo movement’s 5-year digital compilation december 2017. heaving at 140 beats per minute, ‘trax’ creates a certain energy similar to early jungle riddims. chopped percussion, giant synth stabs, weighty driving kicks with underlining sub bass and the odd flute build the track to a halt before commencing it’s minimal technoesq break down. ‘just a dream’ a rooted scentimental dub which takes you deep into a place amongst your rem sleep with sparse whaling strings and swinging percs. scent debut solo release. one to watch.

since 2010, buyepongo has led a steadily growing los angeles underground movement that combines the vast influence of traditional tropical sounds with the streetwise edges of the latin american diaspora. much like their name implies (translation: to cause a ruckus), their hybrid style is focused on the celebration, an infectious, energetic vibe that is universally and rhythmically connected. it ll get your feet moving, and much like many of the records from the golden age of cumbia, these two offerings demonstrate an updated and adapted reverence for the roots that is truly distinct to their own unique place and time. for the group s latest single, that place, the sprawling latinx scene east of los angeles, met head on with the east coast hot pot of brooklyn. recorded and produced in collaboration with names you can trust during the band s serendipitous 2017 trip to nyc, this new release takes two of buyepongo s most fan-favored and party-tested original songs, two that had yet to be recorded, and combines them with the nyct forty-five ethos: a stripped-down, warm analog recording that perfectly captures buye s live, bring-the-ruckus style in the room as it happened. por la vida romps over the a-side, a modern-day classic in the making whose lyrics (how beautiful is life, always full of surprises) compliment a sunny, easy-going house party vibe, while miri on the flip evolves from a loping, almost reggae groove into a transcendent journey through caribbean feel-good sounds.

the latest release from the rome-based onda records truly is a delight for the senses. helmed by gianluca marcelli aka dj glc, the label kicked off in 2017 courtesy of the exceptional sounds of g.i.m productions’ ‘rising waves’ ep. although following the latter might have been something of a daunting task, onda’s sophomore release is equally enticing, with two originals (one from dj glc and the other from the aforementioned g.i.m productions) backed with stunning remix interpretations by two of the states’ most respected contemporary producers, atlanta’s byron the aquarius and detroit veteran javontte.

following hivers excellent ep, let recordings again welcomes american dj and producer jon hester to their imprint. currently based in berlin but with previous spells in chicago and minneapolis, he returns to the label for a second ep following 2017s communication ep, and other outings on the likes of rekids and dystopian. his adventurous drum programming and high speed techno style kicks things off with radiance, a manically melodic track that takes you on an energetic trip. impermanence is a deeper, more cinematic piece that features rueful pads but still a driving drum line, then stratospheric has huge, hammering kick drums and squelchy synth sounds as well as dancing keys that bring warmth, groove, and soul. last of all, this high class excursion is completed with horizon, delivering barreling drum patterns and edgy pads that trap you in suspense as it races on. all four tracks deliver a high impact techno sound that very much looks to the future.

after relocating from california at 7 years old, nasser grew up in a musical environment in new jersey. surrounded by gifted artists from an early age, nasser was fed a diet of authentic 70 s soul, 80 s pop and 90 s hip hop and r&b, which all influenced the spirit of his music and his trademark big production. at only 24 years old nasser displays real musical maturity and a subterranean fearlessness in his productions. mentored by house music master dennis ferrer, nasser has released three ep s and on the indispensible objektivity label, as well as remixing dennis iconic son of raw in 2017. his gramercy ep on suara revealed nasser s more techier side, exposing his wider abilities. his most recent release on objektivity, the just like that ep , dropped in summer 2017, in tune with his first ibiza season. (as a part of dennis ferrer s misfits society crew, a residency he continues in 2018…) here nasser debuts on circus recordings with his first full, self penned, and part sung, vocal single, combined with a intergalactic techno b side that is absolutely not to be skipped over. say something was instantly snapped up by yousef after an early demo was sent to the label owner earlier this year. big, nasty & pin sharp drums carry the original vocal throughout the track, as a playful narrative parties & dances throughout. vocal hook after vocal hook interchange as the slamming 909 drums persist. as yousef said, there is simply nothing else quite like it right now, and as pete tong said it s the best vocal record he has heard in many years, confirmed an essential new tune on the spot… this years bigger than prince..?

n8noface was the vocalist for underground synth-punk legends crimekillz. he is the younger brother of tucson-bred modern boogie rocket man zackey force funk, both now residing in long beach, ca.in 2017, hit+run released n8’s visceral debut album stories of those, as well as demos and demons vol. 1, a ten-track collection of home demos recorded between 2015-2016. on dia de los muertos 2017, noface also unleashed the first single from his forthcoming new album true story, the haunting double a-side lathe cut “idgaf / say goodbye.”
true story, the 14-track lp due this august, reads like a collection of compelling mini-narratives, brief yet honest tales of personal struggles, anti-establishment rants, dead end loves, and real-life tragedies. n8’s minimal wave sound is not about nostalgic lo-fi nor home-recorder formulas, but his own instinctive style that defies categorization and comparisons. the result is a distinct sound of rapid-fire hardcore punk moshing with awkward pop music. standout tracks on the dense 18-minute album include “not like you”, “bad day”, “men who dress well” and “glasgow smile”.

mika visited the moog sound-lab in april 2015. he made one his last known solo studio recordings in the form of two vinyl sized side long pieces. entitled “lydspor” - danish for ‘soundtrack’. mika worked almost exclusively with the lab’s moog modular system 55.
this uk sound -lab instrument is the sole protoype model (containing several golden filters) of moog’s recent sold out reverse-engineered edition (55 units only) recreating the 1970’s classic.
on completion of his sessions mika announced ‘i could work with this machine for the rest of my life….i would need nothing else”.
a second moog session was planned but tragically mika died in an accident in april 2017, shortly after he had approved the vinyl mastering.

the fourth instalment of moxies compilation series is back, presenting this exclusive 4 track vinyl sampler thoughtfully curated line-up of artists. featuring friends of on loop, up-and-coming producers and prominent names alike. stepping up to open this 12 sampler is the maghreban, adding his trademark touch to an off-kilter remix of steve spaceks ‘gimmi da love. lisbons violet is up next, laying down her energetic signature breakbeat sound on ‘antifa beats. flipping over, the b-side begins with nathan micays infectious builder ‘basic plumbing, paving the way for louise chens ‘reach (raw mix) a solid house number. on loop has continued on a straight upward trajectory since it began, with 2017s volume 3 securing a nomination in dj mags end of year awards for best compilation, and the imprint earning a place in mixmags 20 best record labels of 2017. as the label steps things up, so does moxies nts radio show, now moving to a weekly slot and cementing its place as a staple dance show for the station with regular parties at manchesters soup kitchen, edinburghs sneaky petes and londons pickle factory. with an international tour to be announced this year, things are just getting started for the dj & radio host.

new yorker electronic producer dj spider is back on itay’s out-er with a muggy, abstract techno release “human erosion field ep”, similarly to its debut “v ep”, released in september 2017 and produced in featuring with his longtime friend phil moffa.
italian label out-er presents its twenty-sixth release continuing to explore the diverse musical path between house, techno and experimental electronic - which appears in most cases on out-er’s sub-label pregnant void. “human erosion field ep” otherworldly showcases both a radiant take on electronic as well as gloomy and wild-eyed pieces, an aesthetic approach for which dj spider has been most known in the scene. overlooking to the style of the tracks, the release does contain a sinister mood and a dense, solid sense of groove overall, a typical recurring feature of the producer’s previous outputs.

ahus debut album from 2017, nord dream, was something of an overlooked gem from that year, but its musical palette of dubwise techno and ambient sounds caught the ears and enthusiasm of many. danny clancy was one such admirer, and in turn brings ahus sophisticated sounds to his dichotomy records label for the ‘atlas ep.
