mole city is not in the tradition or deviating from the tradition – it is the tradition. after two decades of launching drums, guitars and pianos through the shifting interzones between harmony and chaos (moonlighting along the way with the likes of sleater-kinney, wild flag, elliott smith, built to spill and a long list of others), quasi are a genre of their own - they write songs in the style of quasi, and mole city is the quasi song book: parlour sing-alongs for the last century.
now in their 20th year as a band, and a two-piece once again, sam coomes and janet weis hand-deliver the double album/liberation cookbook/encyclopedia of kicking ass, mole city, to those of us who still care about well-built, homemade objects crafted with integrity, spirit, fire, and skill.
pressing on double 180 gram heavyweight virgin vinyl, housed in gatefold sleeve with mp3 download code included.

spearheading freitags new focus on the subgenres industrial techno, dark and raw is martin dolgener, a veteran of professional media sound design since the early 90s. martins been a music maker from the age of twelve, crafting beats using a key-tar and ghetto blaster.
another top notch exclusive eyepatch vinyl which will be a must for those deeper sets. >yellow edge< is a three track debut release on eyepatch for japanese dj and house music producer yusuke yamamoto. he runs his own label vacances records and has seen releases on many other labels including oasi lab, houseworx, city life, ibiza house hotspot and more. his tracks are supported by a lot of big djs including luciano, claude vonstroke, d julz, anthony collins and moodymanc to name a few. he brings a fresh approach to house and this is manifested within this superb pack and we love the sound so much we will also be releasing this onto good old 12inch vinyl which will be a welcome addition to any dj s box.
one is formerly the front man of a notorious glaswegian punk band, the other a meticulously precise studio guru with creative flair way beyond the majority. as solo artists they are a formidable force, as a collective they are quite simply one of the most exciting new acts in the uk right now. refusing to rush, they spend countless hours trying ideas, searching for samples, tuning percussion and tweaking sounds. for every mia dora track that sees the light of day, there are 100 that dont. this isnt throwaway club music for the internet generation, it is soulful, thoughtful and emotive music by two producers fuelled by an intrinsic need to give life to the sounds in their heads.
after the excellent reception of the first instalment, ander-trax is back yet again with more supremely crafted tracks from label head and all round gentleman alex-ander. nobody really expected such talent to emanate from coatbridge, did they? then again, wasnt the fella responsible for that blueboy *remember me* thing from coatbridge? maybe that was airdrie.
comes on nice chunky 180grams vinyl! september, back to school again. in one side one of our favourite house artists from paris: le loup. cant stop is a funky and solid uptempo banger and cherish pauses the bpms blowing our mind out to another world showing how versatile can le loup be doing house music. on the other side one of our favourite newcomer from holland: junktion. smooth talking and lazy grind tracks are simply straight forward house music, hedonist and actual, but with some classic tricks that reminds us, in some way, to old legends.
liverpool based andy ash hits the saft imprint with two excellent analog house jams. the overall sound andy comes up with, hints to the early machine driven house sounds from the late 80s on the a1 in love whilst transitioning into the more jammy house sound andy has been purveying on his string of latest releases on his a2 jam called black stem.on the b side saft regular kastil provides andy ashs >in love< with a heavy machine rework. kastil proves he has been crafting and perfecting his production skills with some new hardware gear. this remix hold the intense feel of a 4am sweaty club session. all and all saft proudly present the 5th installment in their series of pure and all round house releases.
almost a year since the label dropped christopher raus marbled world, never learnt returns with more superb house, this time from new artist autre. taking in four tracks which span the breadth of modern deep house, chapter 5 is yet another winner for the never learnt imprint.
basic fingers is back! after releasing some amazing music on kat, g.a.m.m., moton and lumberjacks it is time to welcome the reflex to basic fingers. *curious it is* is a super sweet disco track with enough sing-a-long potential and a nice breakdown with a twist to have you dancing in seconds. flip it over for a dubby version which doesnt skimp on the cowbells!
our fourth release comes from ogris debris, part of the affine family (home of dorian concept and cid rim) and an internationally acclaimed producer duo from vienna. combining cutting-edge digital production with finest ingredients of techno and house, ogris debris create a unique brand of dance music that is widely acknowledged as innovative by the global scene.
for this release, ogris debris deliver a uk-bass influenced, chord-driven primetime house stomper, somewhat different to their previous releases. on the b-side, hyperdubs grime and funky don scratcha dva eases the rhythm with his rolling bassline sound for a weighty dj tool track, while the clonious diverts the energy with his soulfull keyboard skills and swinging drums into an infectious late-summer future funk affair.
eskimo is proud to present the new single of london based disco advocate blende. following his breakthrough release fake love on eskimo, supported by a-trak, aeroplane, yuksek, dimitri from paris & more.

with *voltaire* causing upset with club sound system engineers worldwide as feral youths wile away into a sensory-overload downward spiral and *heron blue* making hints towards dillinjas take on strontium jazz this 12 inch is undoubtedly going to upset you. that is why we think you should take a punt and buy it.
but that the cocoon compilation l is all about love, is beyond debate: the love for electronic dance music, for its complexity and its diversity, the love for this global musical language and last not least the enthusiasm for the well-known and the still non-famous protagonists of this tonal romance that faithfully accompanies us through night and day for more than 30 years now.
french kitchen is a label of electronic music and intelligent sounds recipes based in paris. it was born in 2012 by the chiefs hands of the music duo sucre sale and their cocobeach partys friends. how to cook - a fashionable sweet and salty techno recipe: take a good soft kick and simmer in a light reverb effect. melt a good motivating base and add it to the mixture. add the nappees, a few vocals freshly recorded and two returns. cover in breadcrumbs and let it cook as long as a rakia. taste!
after a great compilation (fk0001), this first ep is prepared us by chiefs like nicone & philip bader, marcelo cura, andri and homes duo sucre sale!

gutts are a jaded wrestling double act that were much celebrated in the golden era of uk wrestling in the 1980s. after a slow-decline into inactivity and relative obesity they decided to make a comeback in 2013 as an electronic music band called gutts. both neil landstrumm and alan hostage have recently reached peak-fitness through circuit training and eating salad for dinner, toning up for this new heavy-hitting vinyl release on glasgows horror boogie. both were last seen, exiting landstrumms analogue graveyard shouting *not the ears, not the ears* and *i demand to be treated like a sultan*. no further details were available at this time.
major people is a new label from santiago salazar. the debut track *new beginnings* is more of a theme song for salazar as he introduces the major people label. modulating synthes can be heard throughout the track and the catchy bassline will warm any dance floor.
*technik* is a slice of sleek, contemplative techno that is far out on a late-night tip, leaving only a bouncing bassline and skipping tech-house beat to hold down the groove amongst the tune’s more ethereal sounds. on the remix, chicagos defend:r (ricardo mirandas alter-ego) takes apart the original to form a hybrid electro style remix laced with sub bass grooves and just the right amount of synths to take it to the next level.
this is the beginning of much more to come from major people.
TRYING TO MAKE SOMETHING OF LIFE (BASIC SOUL UNIT RMX)
12 Inch 25.09.13
once upon a time ... in the midst of masked identities, artist pseudonyms and the like, midnight shift introduces a creature not even of human form. tapirus conjures music reflecting the duality of his soul. on one hand, rough and acidic to tell of the terrain of his past. and on the other, pure ethereal sounds borne of another place. this ep, showcasing 3 songs of the tapirus alongside a remix by label artist basic soul unit, is just the introduction to his tale.
ghostek is a russian garage and techno producer currently residing in moscow. he has previously released vinyl on other heights and shiprec, and has collaborated with rooflight as ghostlight, releasing a 12 inch on styrax. a prolific producer, his tracks have created a substantial online fan base, with some of his productions reaching tens of thousands of plays. he runs the digital label squared harmony. the *no way out ep* is composed of four tracks, two very garage leaning, two more towards techno, all reminiscent of londons music scene, despite the producers russian location. the dark atmosphere of the music is reflected in the artwork and track names across the release. sub squared is a new label, a sub-label of project squared which has a back catalogue including tracks by kowton, and, asusu and tom dicicco. the aim of this new label is to represent the taste of one of the two founders of project squared.
horo gives true artists the freedom to represent the full extent of their talent and it is not often the cerebellum is truly engaged with the genre we have grown from but music for the mind is one of our over-arching ideals. and so we come to *scope*, the 10th release, a full length compilation spread over 5 vinyl 12 inches. deviating somewhat from our vinyl only position up to this point, given the scale and magnitude of this project scope will also be released on cd & digital, although there will also be 5 vinyl only tracks by way of thanks to the vinyl buyers that have supported the label up to this point. 24 tracks of uncompromising, innovative music from horo mainstays and new artists alike, scope represents where we have come from, but moreover, where we will be going. this is just the beginning.
following on your work as one of the twin pioneers of glaswegian radge-rock in arab strap cant be an easy task. aidan clearly has had other ideas, quite different ideas, and most of them comprise his solo project release via his alter ego, lucky pierre. in these recordings, l. pierre pays an affectionate tribute to the wear and tear of overplayed vinyl, the hiss, scratch and pop of records long loved but worn down. it is the sound of survival, the echoes of a life lived well, moth eaten music of dasness and resilience, of beauty and backbone.
pressing on 10 inch vinyl, download code included.
the star eyed condition is chameleonic effort in the impossible to pin down trajectory of loden s career. the belgian-based producer and musician has already proven his facility for glassy disco and droning ambient on his 2005 debut valeen hope, and glitchy hip-hop via his work with sole and thirsty fish.
on his new album, koks goes even further beyond his already drawn boundaries. there is a touch of robo-electro to tracks like *optimist never cries* and *sanesserarian* (a play on the phrase *ça ne sert a rien* or *it is useless*). he brings the ghostly sounds of german electronic pop into the dirtiest of hip-hop beats. and on his collaboration with rhymer doseone, *future confetti*, he gets lost in a psychedelic wilderness worthy of dj danger mouse.
last time we visited satta outside we have been blown away by the music of young lithuanian producer 96wrld who had a couple of singles with monday jazz and renegades of bump. we signed him right away and we are excited to finally share with the world his debut ep *private language* on 12 inch vinyl, limited to 300 copies. a collection of eight tunes that showcase 96wrld s potential as a producer and songwriter that embraces different composition styles, typically in a single tune. his arrangements are complex and give away all detail only on repeated listen. however, tracks like bruce willis can put any club to pieces easily ... test yourself.
leftroom continues its fine run of eps (recent outings have come from kate simko, sam russo, william djoko, matt tolfrey and others) with a first appearance on the label from lil mark. born mark currell, lil mark has been producing top-notch house since 2001 when he appeared on classic and music for freaks, and more than a decade later still puts most of his peers to shame. the two tracks he supplies here come with remixes from matt tolfrey and matthew styles
since his first single masquerade dropped on vinyl just over a year ago, forrests profile has continued to rise, with releases on noir music and mobilee and forthcoming on visionquest.
liquid spirit marks gregory porters blue note records debut, which arrives on the heels of two critically acclaimed indie label albums that quickly propelled porter to the upper echelon of contemporary male jazz singers and earned him two grammy nominations. don was, president of blue note, encouraged porter to stay true to his artistic vision.
*i firmly consider myself a jazz singer but i enjoy blues, southern soul, and gospel,* porter says, *those elements make their way inside my music. and i ve always heard them in jazz.*
restless idylls is the first full length album from tropic of cancer, the solo project of los angeles-based camella lobo.

for those of you who dont already know, plaster is an electronic music project born in rome in 2008 and comprised of gianclaudio hashem moniri and giuseppe carlini, best known for their works on german label stroboscopic artefacts, berlin-based unoiki and ukraine-based label kvitnu...
now the italian duo find themselves in london, joining forces with touchin bass to weave together a damn fine four track ep which aims to mix a combination of styles from downtempo, dark, brooding beats to more compelling rhythms which have the capacity to make you dance... plasters sound is impressively textured with rich eclectic tones. it is simple but effective, showing different emotions, tempos and styles.
look no further... this ep will draw you in, chew you up and spit you out, but you will be all the better for it.
more techno-house hybrids from the australian based crew, sticking with the family oriented approach. baby, don t you sounds like something we ve grown to expect of freddie norwood, approachable and female friendly, with a hefty injection of muscle in the bottom end. lies rides out a peculiar and twisted groove up the climax, what happens after that is up to you. mic mills hits strong with the disco-not-disco moretti. mbm round things out with the bong song, suitable for dance floors and communions alike
vitalik recordings welcomes sam russo to the ranks with the rather fantastic vanishing test ep. sams production skills defy his years, his style defined and his sound signature. his trained ears have been sought after by the likes of craig richards, matt tolfrey and huxley in recent studio collaborations. his music is non-categorical genre speaking however his influences permeate his music, dub and bass play key roles, darkness and light coexist in a dynamic juxtaposition, bright expansive pads soar over rumbling kicks and moody bass lines.
endless welcomes paolo tocci and russian techno dj andrey pushkarev, who is very popular with his audiences for his deep sound and signature sensitive melodic techno, in addition to his use of vinyl records from his extensive collection which he has been expanding for over 10 years. his recent ep on circus company captured the attention of many and in particular of luca bacchetti who then included him on the tracklisting of the recent arkitekt 02. paolo tocci, talented italian dj from catanzaro, has been responsible for many parties in calabria, one of the most beautiful regions in the south of italy. now living in switzerland, he produces electronic music surrounded by the natural beauty and suggestive landscapes of canton ticino. endless 004 has a romantic feel to it and features these 2 deep house gems to celebrate the end of summer.
the modern classic and piano centred album xine on mojuba sublabel wandering was marking the debut by the talented sven weisemann in 2009 and remains relevant until today. with his new and second album inner motions he is focussing more on emotional club compatible tracks but does not lose sight of the demanding home listener at all.
samuli kemppi played live twice at suicide circus, and since his energetic sound really fit well with our club, we started talking to each other about a release on our dark series imprint. so here we go now, after releases on labels such as prologue, mote evolver and perc trax, samuli kemppi now is ready to rock your boat with three tracks on our label, which define a very particular sound of their own. last day on earth brings samulis apocalyptic vision to the dancefloors. dark hisses, well scaped spaces and a hookline with the pull of a spacecraft make up for a track that with no doubt will be one of the techno anthems of the next months. a killer of a track! on the b-side spacing has similar sound aesthetics as last day on earth, but comes along more playful whereas calling approaches the apocalyptic theme from a very different angle. bleepy synths over a banging beat let you think of laser shots in the dark, haunting and scary.
following on from the jtc 12 inch earlier in the year. hoya:hoya return with a 3 track ep from altered natives the a side is an completely unapologetic club banger which was swiftly signed after seeing the reaction to it when danny native opened his set with it at the club. the b side offers 2 slightly more experimental, yet still hard hitting tracks.
REBECCA IN THE HALL / ROMIJN RAVINE / NIGHT LEVEL II
12 Inch 20.09.13
r-zone is a new label launched by global darkness. who is involved isn t exactly a secret, those who feel so inclined can piece the information together quite easily. it is however irrelevant to the concept of r-zone, which would like to shift the focus away from namedropping and perception based on hype around individual artists and bring it back where it belongs, in the lap of the music.
while this album could have gone down a rather obvious route, with the remixers of the asphodells album *ruled by passion…*, andrew weatherall looked a little closer to home.
mainly revolving around the axis - the group of locally-based producers who can be spotted in and out of weatheralls shoreditch studio bunker - reworkings from the likes of phil kieran, scott fraser, hardway bros, justin robertson and ivan smagghe soon came to light.
this idea lead to a broad range of styles with something for everyone. we have stopped arguing in the office about which is the best track. they all are.
after three sold out releases on gamm the edit king the reflex is back with vol.4 in his re-vision series! this time around he goes slightly more rare groove-ish than before with three amazing re-edits.
first up blood sweat & tears gets a breakbeat rework that kills the original by the miles if you ask us. the dope jazz brake in the middle is extra nice.
to follow up we go on a funky blues trip on *gone is the thrill* and last but not least a hot (!) ohio players jam gets funked up to the max.
the reflex and gamm have done it again!
this second instalment of the various artists series >no dough, just cookies< may have something for all. times are ruff joins forces with junktion, awanto3 and pete bandit to deliver an ep with a rich blend of music.
beware: must have release! three cuts of ballistically designed cutting edge dance music. one fast gritty experimental electro cut. the appointment program has been deepening its investigation on resonant frequencies and on the limits of groove dynamics
morphine label boss, morphosis, presents the music of electronic composer, charles cohen, kicking things of with these two deadly interpretations of dance of the spirit catchers. masterful and essential! tip!
vinyl only! here we are with our first release, little hill 001, two original bouncing techno tracks from lorentz, well remixed by gianluca meloni (prologue) with drifting-techno rework and owl (bpm-family) with more dubby-atmosphere remix. mastered at dubplates & mastering (berlin) by michael kuhn.
