northern structures (troels baunbæk-knudsen and lasse buhl) are a copenhagen based techno duo. troels has been making all kinds of electronic music since the age of 14 but focused mainly on a long international drum’nbass carreer under the excentric pyro moniker. lasse is a longtime dj and has been developing his own productions, with a background in soundscapes and organised noise. both share a love for the harder and deeper sounds of techno not often found in copenhagen, taking in a wide range of influences from the early uk industrial and dub tinged berlin sound to jazz, experimental electronica and rock. the ambition is to create a marriage of industrial and organic textures by avoiding strict rules of programming and aiming for more of a jam based musical playground feel.

shakarchi & straneus are faik and daniel, two bffs from gothenburg who are making some of the most catchy, emotional and well crafted dance music we have heard in a long time. both had been involved in music for a while when they started working together at their hometowns top tapas joint, manana. in between washing dishes and serving patatas bravas, the boys would burst out short tracks and sound experiments in the makeshift studio they had set up inside mananas cloakroom. this led to a debut 12 inch on malmo based geography recordings and now comes their five track ep >dodskallar och korallrev<: studio barnhus second release, the best swedish house record since jesper dahlbacks >what is the time mr. templar?<, something we are immensely proud of being able to release.

please welcome a new member to the mojuba label family, sirko müller. to some of you sirko might not be so unknown, because hes in the game since the mid 90s and is one of the founding members of the label tokomak records, which was also founded by mojuba head honcho don williams back in the days, and he recorded also tracks for pure plastic sublabel rewired, styrax and milnor modern. after a long hiatus sirko is now ready for some new action, so to reintroduce him to you we decided to put out some of his classic tracks as well as some unreleased bits! its quite hard to believe that these tracks are from about a decade ago, because they are still sounding fresh but also capture that little dirt and roughness which still remembers to the early years of clubbing!

rush hour presents a new series of releases entitled >voyage direct<. tom trago, one of the most prominent producers on rush hour records, who has produced several releases for this label since 2006, curates this series. in 2009 he presented his first voyage direct output and in 2010 he started selecting tracks for >voyage direct<, which presents a collection of his favorite producers & tracks. the saga of >voyage direct< continues. the third release is a very classy one. house of jezebel aka legowelt takes us back to the warehouse days with his epic version of soul classic >love & happiness<. granted, this sample has been used a few times before, but this is simply one of the strongest versions ever to appear. comes as vocal and instrumental version

12inch full of music with a definite sense of place. eerie synthesiser pulses, funk-infused drums and languid guitar-scapes have been part of the musical topology of düsseldorf since the early seventies: and this particular release pays full tribute to that legacy, with jagd auf den hirsch (hunt for the stag) comprising an eerie piece of swampy lazer-forest rock. this sound is also a modern day staple of düsseldorfs nightlife at the salon des amateurs, a small bar attached to the kunsthalle art gallery that is an oasis of hypnotic disco nightmares. the salon is where der räuber und der prinz made their first live appearance in 2008 (when the original composition for moogwalzer was debuted), and both members of the band frequently play there: ralf beck with his bodyrocking club act unit 4 and sebastian as half of art-rock duo noblesse oblige. meanwhile two of the guests on this release - detlef weinrich also known as toulouse lowtrax, contributing words about a ghostly maiden on moogwalzer, and thomas klein contributing drums to jagd auf den hirsch - are both original members of the quintessential düsseldorf act kreidler. salon dj resident vladimir ivkovic also had a hand in the creative clarion call for the jagd auf den hirsch (hunt for the stag). to complete the circle, düsseldorfs new resident and desolat mainstay guti wrote his remix in the middle of the night in buenos aires, as a kind of letter to his new home-to-be. there we have it: a true tribute to a city we love, with tracks for the dancefloor as well as moments of melancholic contemplation.

born in romania in 1981, mihai popoviciu is one of the most talked about newcomers in the house and techno scene. but to call him a newcomer is a misnomer. mihai has been releasing quality music for years, on labels such as gigolo, level non zero, brise, diynamic and, of course, highgrade. since 2007 he has sworn allegiance to the highgrade flag, either alone or with production partner markus homm. he always has the ability to surprise with his music tracks produced straight to the point with no unnecessary fluff – just the uninhibited thrill and euphoria of dancing seems to empower his work. after a busy summer season playing in the clubs of europe, he is now back to work in the studio. and so comes >trapped in brakets< with three brilliant club tracks of outstanding quality, custom made for the dance floor. if you dont believe us youll have to hear them for yourself. turn up the volume and close your eyes! for those who still want more, mihai popoviciu will be releasing his debut album in may 2011 on highgrade records. time to get excited and warm up the legs for maximum dance floor effect!

franklin de costa is someone we have been following since his first releases on trapez ltd. we still believe >kronn< on curle014, franklins debut for curle, is one of the strongest tracks we have released so far on the label. this >fragile ep< gives again a great taste of franklins qualities as a producer. whereas the title track is definitely the one on here with the biggest peaktime dancefloor potential, the three other tracks show franklins firm talent and diversity in crafting organic deep house tracks that step out of the ordinary. truly a special ep.

innerwestsoul is an anonymous, sydney-based crate digger who claims influences as wide as art blakey, tony blackburn, joni mitchell and streetsounds electro, and credits first and foremost where it all began with his dads original 1970s home made motown, soul and disco mixtapes. turntable tweaking and re-editing tracks since 1985, his original productions utilised nothing but a razor blade and a roll of sticky tape to keep the music flowing. fast forward to the 21st century, and he continues to apply the same diy philosophy to his digital productions, creating tracks with real drama, continually diving deep into the infinity of musical history to find those rare nuggets of pure musical gold, then sharing them with the world
