last year saw the mysterious garage shelter make their debut appearance on skylax, and little is still known about them! all we know is they are back with some freshness on the skylax classic sublabel. first up is bring back love, a track that will sink its claws in with that infectious vocal sample hook. sticking with the old school sample vibe is the lonely heart dub of attempt, it’s a bit more mellow but still has plenty of groove in it. friend of the garage shelter, dj la foudre, appears over on the b side with it’s alright (signal st mix). still on that catchy sample tip, it features one of the grooviest bassline and funky guitar pairings i’ve heard in a long time. next up, perception 66 is a smooth house affair from yet another friend, asa no hikari. rounding out the package is garage shelter’s own you (still), a dreamy pad-driven track that may indeed be the pick of the release. while we don’t know much about garage shelter, we can’t help but look forward to what they come out with next!

paris-based beat x changers brings up to you a new record with a collaborative project in the shape of classic cuts.our new release introduces two new french artists brought together on a split ep: tell from paris and name from the sunny avignon city, both of them backed- up by exclusive remixes from three of our historical beat x producers: neue grafik and pulkone (aka x_1 & monomite). on the a-side, discover tell - a 20-year old jazz drummer - who releases two soulful and melodic tracks. you’ll recognize the heat of the mpc grain, obsessing samples and uplifting breaks. on the b-side, southern producer name offers a disco-like and funky house music via two dancing tracks with a clear reference to the clubbing universe of new york and chicago. this activist dj and experimented producer – he is an ableton teacher on the side – gained recognition in the south of france music scene in the last decade and reached the ears of producer kink.grand Écart (i.e. wide gap or split) recalls the time it took to release this ep. it’s also a geographical gap, a gap between the ideas of the five artists brought together on this release, a gap between our expectations and the reality of some passed – or cancelled – venues in paris. we have always believed in this project and in our flexibility!

introducing felix leifur, dirt crews latest discovery, an all new, raw and savvy talent from reykjavik, iceland. reykjavik has a population of just over 120.000, so the disco, hip hop and soul sampling, house music community that felix rolls with is pretty tight knit, giving him a unique and inspired perspective on the sound. remixing is friend of the label, manchesters hidden spheres.

the new release from help presents works from various help-releated artists. another release from the arhus-imprint that doesn’t directly state club-proof, but still, this one wouldn t mind having a spin or two by your local dance pusher.the opening track is by central, a ripe house tune with both melodies and good-vibes - probably the closest this young man has come to making an anthem. next up is the four piece group maizena with an ambiguous rhythmical ambient-house jam from the area of denmark with the least rainfall. on the b-side you’ll find a raw and to the point recording of dj sports and c.k joining ph 1 in his throwback techno-studio in the suburbs of arhus. next up is the long awaited debut from manmade deejay, who has been cooking a floating rhythm jam for this 5 course meal of modern danish cuisine. last but not least amsterdam-based kaap joined central on a fine day at rubber studios to create this dreamy and galloping ride. all in all this genuine piece of wax is filled with local devotion and love from the help-crew. thanks for the support!

supernature ep is the opening release of our new series. this time, the concept of a place different than earthly space is guiding arche into new and different shores, seeing what lies behind the horizon. since some time, prioleau - with his unique sound and personality - became more than just a good friend of arche. with his first ep he bring us to darker and rawer fields. the original feeling of this track was first experienced by most participants on a memorable weekend in the countryside.

jun kamoda is a producer, dj and mc from tokyo. new to the label but a friend of the party, jun came to mister sunday in nyc last year and ended up hanging around for a few days afterward, digging for records and sharing bowls of spaghetti with the boys. when he returned to japan, he got to working on the music we now present to you on the clay ep. this is jun blending loopy, psychedelic disco stylings with chugging drum work for three party-ready cuts. they’ve been chopping up our dance floors months, we’re excited to hear them do the same to yours.

walter gas ep from marcos coya is the first release of gas grabaciones, vinyl-only label from the small south american country uruguay. contains two original tracks and a blasting electro-techno remix from argentinian artist franco cinelli aka psynote. analog machines were used on making this tracks and an excelent mastering work, ensuring great sound at playing it. it’s a 300 limited copies release, with cover art from uruguaian artist carlos paez vilaro.

after cutting his teeth supporting berlin s keinemusik crew, fabian braunbeck branches off with his own original ep. moody & beautiful, its lush textures clearly show an artist who has paid attention while working with some of the industry s best, yet has a voice all his own, not to mention he s picked up a few tricks on the way. the ep s title track needs absolutely no introduction, just press play. we welcomed back our good friend ruede hagelstein to remix the a side and as the partyers at panorama bar would agree now for weeks on end it works!. the b-side is a much more percussive and moody affair, getting a remix from fellow berliner filburt who puts his own mark on the originals cornerstones.

our parisian edit friend reverend p hits us with a 4 track ep loaded with some serious boogie and disco heat. concentrating on the sounds of gladys knight (a side) and george duke (b side), reverend p decided to edit em not once but twice...ouble action = double fun :) the a-side tracks are two uptempo numbers with gladys while the flip comes with one mid tempo boogie tune and a high energy disco cut from mr duke. solid gamm material for anyone down with the more soulful sounds of disco!

our french friend steven wobblejay strikes back! after the sublime shake your tingsz ep (qe 45), steve presents again some dope deep raw tunes. lots of old school flava with a new school twist! his partnership with pablo valentino as creative swing alliance (wolf music, faces, tsuba a.o.) has been a great base for developping his own style. another great talent is past, present and future quintessentials artist mat chiavaroli, who’s delivering a rugged and freestylish remix. hang out - the way we love it!

soft talk is the latest alias that natal zaks - our longtime danish friend and a musician we have been constantly releasing under different monikers throughout the last 5 years - picked out for us. he is hands down the most talented producer we have ever met and it is always a privilege to be able release his music under any name he chooses. we have seen his music go through many transformations and they were always for the best. this time we feel the exact same thing, that this is our favorite music ever and we will never want to release anything else again. that is never true of course, but the mercy ep does feel a lot like that.

following on from the underground success of florists debut ep, all caps first release of the year sees the label pluck from the ether 6 transmissions by debut artiste - neuroshima. cavernous breaks. fluid subs. 1992. 2016.my friend & i used to listen to this during the summer of 94, gazing out his bedroom window at sunset, watching the birds fly past the water tower on the horizon. one of the rare times when both of us would shut up for a few minutes and get lost for a bit, each record comes packaged in a mirrored silver-board sleeve + custom insert designed by florist.

two years ago i played at studio 9 in vilnius, lithuania. the following day i missed my flight home and ended up spending an extra day, which gave me a chance to explore the city with my friend linus, who took me to the contemporary art centre. it was there i spotted a book named ‘rojus’, that linus told me translated as ‘paradise’. the word and striking cover of the book stuck in my mind. a few days after returning home, i turned on to a national geographic documentary named ‘designed to dance’, explaining the courtship rituals of birds of paradise. as i watched, i jokingly began drawing similarities between these birds’ attempts to captivate and impress the opposite sex with dance, and the way strangers try to attract one another in clubs and interact on the dance floor. this gave me the idea of creating a record of functional club music, sequenced as if it were a club night, from doors to closing, using samples of these birds of paradise and their habitat. thus, rojus. leon vynehall 2016

two tracks from a brand new (second in a row) ep by warsaw-based duo tumult hands fully illustrate paradoxical approach of jacek sienkiewicz and jurek przeŸdziecki to the creation of a common integrated form. spontaneous compositional decisions and minute sound interventions are contrasted here with a persistent precision of rhythms generated by both musicians in a reality of an inter-studio space, in moments of an encounter, sometimes, fully controlled collision, of two worlds. full of inner rigour and logic (record is a prime example of modern functionalist music), although teeming with fantasy and flourish, tumult hands current explorations also announce duos full-length lp, soon to be released through recognition records.

oliver schories is neither a friend of dogmas nor an antagonist of reflection. he winks affectionately to his musical past with his fourth album, to at the same time bethink himself of his musical core. accordingly profound and day-dreamfully rests relatively definitely in itself, without having any demand to be danceable. schories has allowed to let himself go and to listen into himself. in twelve tracks he tells about his experiences and allows a very deep view. who listens to music with the heart will understand what his ensouled basslines and oceans of melodies are telling. he came down to rest solid as a rock and knows where he belongs to. and apparently he feels relatively well over there. how sweet, that he lets us listen so closely.

our friend carli löf – true musical genius, master producer of everything from rugged & raw grime scorchers to straight up eurovision goodness – finally debuts on barnhus, with nothing less than a timeless, laser-soaked rave hymn. on the flip we have our very own pedrodollar nordkvist flexin some serious remix muscle with your choice of contemplative comedown house and/or solemn ode to ancient trance gods.

maeve is the record label run by three close friends, mano le tough, the drifter and baikal. for maeve’s eighth outing it has enlisted the talents of long time friend ed davenport. the record grew from a chance hearing of some new material at eds studio one night and after a brief discussion it was decided that the tracks would find a fitting home at maeve. although recently more known for his harder techno releases under the moniker inland, silver walks is some what a return to eds roots. slower, emotive, more contemplative tracks, recorded over a pretty short period of focused studio time. silver walks is a synth-led jam. the arpeggiator holds pride of place as the centre of the tune with filter tweaks complementing its progression. kuromaku has a tougher attitude - heady and cosmic with a deep kick. it means black curtain in japanese.

markus wormstorm, the one man phenomenon, is back with his new album. in it wormstorm experiments with down tempo pulses, bernard herrmann style compositions , african click singing, anime &#769,,,sampling and xhosa rapping. unlike his previous albums, wormstorm presents a whole new style called african electronic , which combines his passion for the cultural effects of south africa along with his expertise in electronic music and classical composing. figure in field consists from a various amount of collaborations, keeping you captivated and fascinated leading into his fantasyworld and - at the same time - into the reality of modern south-africa.

spring theory is proud to announce its latest release, an lp from san francisco-based experimental producer and label alumni aria rostami. titled agnys, it s an intensely personal and introspective reflection on friendship, loss and rebirth in our hyper-connected society. a rumination on a collaborative project started with rostami s now deceased production partner, roommate, and friend shawn dickerson, it utilizes a melodic and ambient techno sound palette to take the listener on a journey that touches on the uncanny permanence that information technology lends to the tragic fragility of the human experience.
