on le rire ep jared wilson (7777 - skudge / detroit) leads the way with a pest chicago-house inspired rework, devilishly and deliciously analog without whittling down to a mere old-school homage, a sort of us-acid-dubstep version of addison groove, with a taste of slacker jak-beat for the nirvana generation! a melodic decomposer, scottish dam mantle (warp - ghostly international / glasgow) deceitfully feigns to mellow with what could at first glance seem like an edit. however deep excavations into the intense choir of >voyage vers l harmonie< leads to a surreal confrontation between a slum village like beat and a post-industrial version of melody nelson. thundery atmospheres, slippery slopes… the best way to pay tribute to luc marianni. famous for his duo as well as his label syncom data, nukubus (bunker / rotterdam) is nonetheless an inspired soloist, as this breathtaking remix once again proves. the 11 minutes long krautrock tunnel leaves many envious of its authenticity and sheer technical virtuosity. this swirling reinterpretation of mariannis work manages to leave the original behind and come into its own. its out of respect for the original work that nukubus requested to be credited only as a remixer. if youve bothered to read the few lines above, please remember it is both easier and wiser to form your own opinion with the vinyl in your own two hands. please note that the distribution of these eps will be accompanied by some very limited original editions of luc mariannis vinyls

straight from buenos aires, brimful of sun, comes brouqades latest release. nina soul convinces with his intense, pulse-pumping house productions. pushed by an extremely funky vocal, >feel you< rolls in on a wave of gentle piano chords just to capture you entirely by concentrating on its crystal clear, cracking beat. >to me< interweaves smooth groove with finest old school elements, discretely tightening the track with acid vocals in the fill, to end up cool and relaxed, pouring out into balmy summerparty nights. in >try to pretend<, the dark, metallic sound encounters melancholy female memory on a sigh (well...). faster looks at the matter more pragmatically. in his remix, his focus on sound and mood creates a hypnotic track - entirely devoted to the dance floor and to the children of the night.

after quite some time now, and after super successful kinks debut, weve got burek number two. this time, burek is excited to present a young japanese musician takaaki shibuya humandrone. takaaki says hes obsessed with hardware and old school sounds, citing blake baxter, mantronix and carl craig as his main influences stating he finds his own music to sound like science-fictional street music, and on his first edition on burek we have a treat of four stylistically different house tracks common in their characteristic acid sound from which he draws his inspiration. stay raw with us and dance!

following a busy year of stylistically varied releases under various guises on his own magic + dreams label, ralph cumbers delivers his first long-player for punch drunk. with a title lifted from the lysergic prose of a brian aldiss novel and grooves informed by the loopier, more martian aspects of chi-town jack and detroit techno-soul, reeling skullways marks a subtle, but highly alluring development in the evolution of cumbers primary recording project.

march sees the formidable hypercolour deliver its most surprising output yet, an ep from none other than groove armada. tom findlay and andy cato need little introduction as groove armada. chart smashes, huge live tours and being part of the worldwide electronic music history aside, the duo have never lost touch with their acid house roots and have continued to be devoted to record buying, djing and the much maligned promo trawl. tom and andy have been avid followers of the label it seemed, since its inception. it was through label head jamie, meeting the guys back in 2010 at space in ibiza, and then continued communication via hypercolour promos, that led to an out-of-the-blue email requesting an informal hook up in east london and, within just a few days, a release was scheduled. that release is the >no knock ep<, four tracks that range from 808 fuelled old school cuts to low slung, moog-bassd electronic funk. each sound is lovingly crafted but there is an analog rawness throughout and every track has the sort of tweaked, off-kilter and occasionally awkward vibe that hypercolour do so well. it just takes a bit of imagination to guess what a ga release on hypercolour should sound but failing that, just check the release out as it wont disappoint.

no use is the first collaboration between long time friends and house music veterans steve conry and iain macpherson. and their fine debut >no use< is the first release on what promises to be a quality outlet magic feet. the original mix is a warm, mid-tempo, acid laced house throbber, perfect for those early hours sessions. taking care of the remixes are craig bratley (instruments of rapture, foto recordings) who amps up the atmospherics, makes the whole thing a little chunkier while adding some space to the whole affair. finally ooft! step up with a rolling and mesmerizing electronic house workout high quality and a stunning debut.

like hardly any other ambassador of modern rhein main house music, christian burkhardt has experienced a true rocket-like takeoff in the last year. burkhardts cocoon debut ep stopover goa has, after one year, still a place of honour in many djs record cases. also his legendary live set in the pouring rain at last years green & blue may belong to the lasting memories of a life dedicated to electronic music. the heidelberg-born producer has already worked for la peña, raum…musik and oslo, and his collaborations with einzelkind and sascha dive became a talking point, too. with his second ep for cocoon, he again sets new standards. theres nobody around who is able to alienate vocals from the collective memory of afro-american culture into a hallucinogenic cocktail without harmful side effects in such a way than burkhardt is. nevertheless, and despite the massive, forward-pushing bass drum and hand claps, he never loses the focus of his soul. so - open your mind, we wish you lots of fun with heart and mind and the considerably acid-like waffles, while the tropical-hypnotic seagull atmosphere of twentysecondcenturydrama already whets the appetite for the upcoming club summer season of 2012.
