jamie jones, reboot, jc fousdelamer remixes + original ...
the latest instalment on christian burkhardt s retrospective/future-focussed c&b sessions projects sees him returning to one of the pivotal tracks of his career: doubledub released in 2009 but still slapping with finesse almost ten years later with its low-swung bassline, latent funk and evocative vocal, its elements resonate perfectly with everything going on in house and techno right now. these remixes couldn t have landed at a better time... jamie jones rolls in with a timeless rolling gem that gradually builds into an impeccable late night jack-out laced with surprise acid tendrils. jc fousdelamer brings the feels with a much slower, cosmic trip that lingers softly with spellbinding dubbed-out magic while reboot unearths the techno beast that was always lurking beneath christian s funk. stripped back machine funk at its finest, reboot never disappoints. naturally christian has also provided the original source material for those who want to kick it 2000s-style and for those who weren t old enough to catch it the last time around. join in if you know the chorus, doobie doobie...

german producer christian burkhardt teams up with fellow countrymen chris wood & meat for a three-track release on jamie jones hottrax this may. burkhardt has been flying the flag for minimalist electronic music for a decade now, releasing on labels such as cocoon, oslo and pressure traxx. likewise, freebase records founders meat + chris wood have been purveying deep and minimal cuts individually since the ‘00s, joining forces in 2009 before releasing on labels like desolat, housewax and tiefschwarz souvenir. between the three of them theyve continually garnered support from the upper echelons of house and techno, making regular appearances in the sets of names like ricardo villalobos, sven väth, seth troxler and jamie jones. intricate percussion and a compelling bassline make up the foundation of closer 2 u as an echoing vocal and tense strings operate throughout. meanwhile, plain is a more downtempo cut in comparison with its dusky atmospherics and distorted spoken word samples that subtly permeate throughout the mix. on the flip, trumpad is deep and dubby whilst integrating trippy synths and mesmerizing effects for a rhythmic conclusion.
AL PAKA (ONNO, FELIPE VENEGAS REMIXES) (CLEAR VINYL)
coloured 12" Vinyl NL21.04.17
another great release on the santiago-amsterdam label cachai: ltd 005 on clear vinyl! german pride christian burkhardt and daniel roth: two artists who have been rocking the game for a long time. pure groove - the way we love it at cachai. this release hits two remixes: chilean all-star felipe venegas and amsterdam based quality producer onno. a pack of four tracks that can’t disappoint.
the cocoon recordings very own inhouse compilation series dots and pearls is back once again and takes us on a tour to the expected sounds of the upcoming spring season. frankfurt based christian burkhardt starts the selection of four exclusive and previously unreleased tracks. his -karambolage- breathes spring air and creates an early summer feeling par excellence. this tune will even turn gray and rainy april weather into bright sunlight. on spot with playful and positive harmonies and a very subtle 80 s synthie-pop flavour. this one here definitely makes us want more! next in line is argy, one of our most long standing cocoon recordings artists. his -how late it was, how late- has an undeniable 80s retro charm, too however it follows a completely different direction than burkhardts -karambolage-. this one refers strongly to an early 80s acid sound and reminds us of great productions such as -on and on- by jesse saunders. we cannot tell how far argy s reminiscences goes back but for the ones who know: -how late it was, how late- will bring you back to the great times of labels like rams horn and their rational youth s -dancing on the berlin- wall. brave and surprising at the same time and above all: -übercool-! with -baroon- by markus fix follows another acid track - however, this one has a far more epic flavour full of warm analogue strings and based on a hypnotic arrangement. fix -baroon- is defintely less retro than argys and burkhardts contributions - a deep tech house gem made for the first sunrises of the upcoming allnighter open airs. with -euphrasia- jim jules accelerates slightly but goes also deeper at the same time. his production follows the cinematic mood of markus fix but paints a darker picture. this one takes us on an intensive musical journey. deep, slightly gloomy and extremely hypnotic, -euphrasia- is almost captivating and bewitching and a perfect conclusion for this highly diversified fourtracker.
axpin debuts with its ep „gilgamesh“, including three deep house tracks and a first floor remix of mastermind christian burkhardt (cocoon, oslo, cbsessions). it smoothly combines multifarious arrangements and arousing melodies with a forward pushing club sound. suitable for the dance floor as well as the afterparty at home, this ep transports the listener to a faraway world of subtle grooves, pushing drums and mesmerizing sound design. „gilgamesh“ is a track based on the story about the journey of an ancient emperor, searching for enlightenment in the highlands of mesopotamia. so it comes as no surprise that a driving beat breaks through the laid back percussions and hypnotizing atmospheres. wandering through this track side by side with mysterious pads and exotic sounds, a lost but defying melody accompanies the listener on his steps. „catiba“ is a track with a multilayered arrangement, that doesn’t necessarily reveal its complexity on the first look. different rhythmic moods provide the structure for two melodic lines, competing at first but working perfectly together after a thrilling break, melting your soul. they’re supported by a pervading deep bass groove that will make your body vibrate.
,,christian burkhardt summarizes both tracks’ features and unifies them in an impulsive club remix that floats every second and climaxes in a thrilling break. dry but playful, perfectly fitting for the dance floor without losing the warmth and lightness of the original. „kryon“ is the ep’s third and most expressive track. starting with lost parts of a melody, rather an echo in the vast distance, the track continuously increases its tension, extending the rhythms until the arrangement blasts out a stunning break that, contrary to all expectations, is a calm and compassionate moment with a transient theme. the clear production provides a place in the mix to each sound, a deep moog bass rumbles in the basement while the stimulating percussion coats
various artist ep collaborations 2 from unlock recordings, featuring tracks from label head solimano, bruno de vincenti, christian burkhardt, barem and federico molinari. gonzalo solimano first created the unlock recordings imprint back in 2004 as a platform to support latin american productions, and ever since then the buenos aires label has played host to the likes of guti, jorge savoretti and franco cinelli. the second instalment in the labels collaborations series, solimano now invites german producer christian burkhardt to join argentinian talents bruno de vincenti, oslo records artist federico molinari and fun records founder barem for a split release. first up is solimano & bruno de vincentis cut love nebulae which layers infectious percussion with gentle chord sequences and filtered effects. christian burkhardts doog then cuts in on a deeper and darker tip, with a low-slung bass groove and hypnotic pad sequences. up next is barems funk duck with its rolling percussion, staggered synths and a pulsating low end, before federico molinari rounds off the package with 2.014.2, blending dubby bass patterns, chopped samples and frantic synth spirals.
REVOLT / GOLDEN BLACK (CHRISTIAN BURKHARDT, ED ED REMIXES)
12" Vinyl NL29.07.16
filou brings the 9th vinyl of the romanian label escapism musique. with two original tracks, revolt and golden black, filou ascends proportions of the tech sounds in complex tracks that gets the listener into motion. cristian burkhardt transcends the tones of revolt into a symmetrical harmony that vibes up with the sheer, meanwhile ed ed enthuses through his play with cheer and rhythm, ending the release in a dancing mood.
fun records third reference is bound to fly well over the rushes of those trying to find the sounds that should stay fresh until the seasons end. and beyond. barems new ep emerges from a kompass aiming to its perfect and dainty studio timeless beats and to christian burkhardts bombshell, the first remix hosted by fun since its launch in august 2015. the argentinian artist has pushed his studios equipment to reach and outline the sound hues that define his labels personality joining the vibes of its two first releases. the first reference was produced by the two founders: barem and alexis cabrera. alexis cabrera produced the second release and now, as a way of giving this first years cercle a complete sense, barem launches this unique third ep
hot city orchestra is a reformation of a band, which was originally formed in 1998. at the age of 17, arno völker (einzelkind) and simon birkenfeld became friends and started making drum and bass music together. they toured all over germany with their record label and had residencies at robert johnson in offenbach and tanzhaus west in frankfurt. after gaining years of experience within the breakbeat scene, arno went on to become einzelkind with releases on playhouse, cocoon, white and his own imprints la peña, jax and pressure traxx as well as worldwide dj gigs. simon was still focusing on his breakbeat career for another year, making an album with a uk drum and bass legend, but it was never released. he stopped making music and started focusing on his career in pr and marketing, where he mostly worked on music and art projects. during this time, the long-time friends arno and simon came up with the idea to launch the blog-network-project www.disco-very. net now, 16 years later, after making first beats together, the boys are back! a tiny bit older, much wiser, more handsome and around 50 bpm slower.
for the second release on cb sessions christian teamed up with his old friend tomio tremmel, who is better known as -the sushi club- the guys spent some all night long sessions to tweak the gear. influenced by modular systems, the virus ti, tanzbär and the jomox 888 this ep offers a widespread variety of club sounds and results in three different electronic tunes, which are hard to describe … so you have to listen to it! also represented on this ep is italians best markus fix. since he has first heard christians -doubledub- he secretly trained everyday to sing the -supi dubi- hook. finally, after six years, he had the chance to present his skills in christians studio. don t miss the final tune - just supi dupi!
imagine cocoon would be a big international football club chris tietjen would be definitely one of the talents coming out of the clubs very own player development program. and he has been pushed step by step to this point to stand on his own feet.
as an artist, christian burkhardt, is not content with existing within the realms of house and techno, but is determined to further stretch its limits with his signature sound originally from heidelberg, germany, he has carved out his own unique path in production, something which perfectly evident on send the money back.
its been a while since we brought you the last ep on llfo by sascha dive. we havent been lazy though. now we present you another exceptional split ep, this time including tracks from christian burkhardt and daniel roth.
the new year starts for raum with the second single by two of our key artists teaming up again, namely christian burkhardt and sascha dive. the a side is produced by sascha alone and is definately standing out from his more house related productions of the last months. halfway is a true peak time monster that already got deck sharks nervous throughout the end of last summer in a few sets of djs like ricardo villalobos or raresh for example just to name the most important ones.
burkhardts latest stroke, including the hit delight. now we are back again with a charming selection of remixes, including work by tobi neumann and julien veniel aka djulz. tobi neumanns remix reminds the attentive listener to the old days of oslo. it is so to speak on the point. its light, but still complex in a special way. tobi carefully unhinged the catchy vocals of delight, added it at some points and put his glance over it. the b-side is home to djulzs interpretation of pianissimo. a dark and powerful house track, that finds its glory in its simplicity. a subtle piano sample is the basis for a forward moving drum pattern. here and there an eerie vocal shot rises and guides the dancer through the musical mind of djulz.
CANDYLAND, CHRISTIAN BURKHARDT RMX / DJ SODEYAMA REMIX
12" Vinyl D11.04.12
candy land is dj pi-ges first solo release from arpa records. it follows on from his previous collaboration with mathias kaden as unit mathi midori& pi-ge who released the konomama ep on raummusik the ep gained critical acclaim, especially for the inspiring remixes by reboot and maayan nidam. “candy land( original mix) - track one is a minimal track structured with profound bass, crunchy guitar samples and simple rhythm, peppered with minimalistic voice samples, it features a high impact breakdown. on the track 2 is a remix by christian burkhardt, one of the most remarkable producers at the moment and his tracks have been released various leading labels such as raum…musik, oslo, and cocoon to name a few. his remix fuses the characters of the original track with a unique new school rhythm and groove. on the 3rd track is deep and dark remix by dj sodeyama, label honcho of arpa records. this remix form an extended journey of over 10mins with a deep and dark introduction thats combined with experimental sounds as the track builds. all in all a great package for djs of deep house, tech house and techno.
like hardly any other ambassador of modern rhein main house music, christian burkhardt has experienced a true rocket-like takeoff in the last year. burkhardts cocoon debut ep stopover goa has, after one year, still a place of honour in many djs record cases. also his legendary live set in the pouring rain at last years green & blue may belong to the lasting memories of a life dedicated to electronic music. the heidelberg-born producer has already worked for la peña, raum…musik and oslo, and his collaborations with einzelkind and sascha dive became a talking point, too. with his second ep for cocoon, he again sets new standards. theres nobody around who is able to alienate vocals from the collective memory of afro-american culture into a hallucinogenic cocktail without harmful side effects in such a way than burkhardt is. nevertheless, and despite the massive, forward-pushing bass drum and hand claps, he never loses the focus of his soul. so - open your mind, we wish you lots of fun with heart and mind and the considerably acid-like waffles, while the tropical-hypnotic seagull atmosphere of twentysecondcenturydrama already whets the appetite for the upcoming club summer season of 2012.
christian burkhardt returns with his fourth solo single for raum musik. the title track of this ep which is called >bass horse< has been produced together with reuben woods from cape town better known as mey. if you listen to the tracks that are featured on this ep you will find out that all of them have a different mood but still they all got the non reversible burkhardt funk. all killer - no filler!
two new faces on freakshow belong to a crazy spanish combo called kasbah zoo! established some years ago through the union of alex and nicolas who are based in barcelona. after 10 years of individually experience in music production and nightlife, they decided to create a new project where their maturity can do a refined music product.as a result they already had some underground hits during the last years. so far the two guys were releasing tracks on zoo:technique and rawthentic music. their next step took them straight into the intl. freakshowí,s artist pool. with their original version of the title track ì,palabrasî, kasbah zoo is unleashing a damn good piece of pumping techhouse. alongside the original we bring you 2 more remixes coming from christian burkhardt and romano alfieri. both are as hot as hell, too. all in all one must say that this record is keeping ití,s dynamic groove from the start to the very end & it will help perfectly to get fully loaded from head to toe!
even the last ep >contemporary box< by christian burkhardt was an exceptional experience for every listener. now, after two years of abstinence on oslo, the gifted artist surprises us with his next album >redford.< on the a side christian burkhardt presents us with >scream< a funky track, in which mainly the vocals let shake the dance floor and draws the audience into his spell. >redford< on the b side stands out with its concise and groovy bass line and stands with its hypnotic sound. an experience for the upcoming club season!
big with: robert dietz, markus fix, federico molinari, dorian paic, meat, vera, nick curly,à over the last couple of years christian burkhardt and sascha dive have shaped and created the sound of raum...musik like almost no other artist on our label. now the two of them are teaming up for our next single and like one would expect it from them they deliver 2 very nice tracks aiming straight at the dancefloor. nightflight on the a side is a bit more electronic and represents more the sound design of christian. >combination< on the b side which is also the title of this record is more sort of a stripped down house tool and therefor stands for saschas influences. together they form a nice mix including two of the main artists from our label. enjoy this combination...!
hive audio is here – a brand new label, run by the makers of the infamous hive club, located in the the industrial quarter of zurich. the imprint was founded by samuel gmur and adrian wöllhaf, better known as animal trainer with some great releasing on oliver koletzkis stil vor talent, amongst others. zurich is not only party capital of beautiful switzerland, it is more and more becoming a habitat for talented and creative music producers and djs, who will now get a new international platform. releases will be held mainly by residents of the hive club itself – benja will be given the honour to start off with his track paradose. >paradose< impresses with a funky percussion loop, ultra-brief chords and scantily applied vocal snippets. benja keeps it dust-dry, leaving out every kind of frippery and lifting the track to a real fl,,oor-fi,,ller without any razzmatazz needed. on the fl,,ip we have a remix by christian burkhardt, who needs no further introduction. he turns the number into a real techno loop monster, which will catch you within a few beats, and then wont let loose again. hypnotic and twinkle-toed at the same time, his remix easily will suit any after hour or peaktime set to the same degree. christian burkhardt himself is also one of our favourite guests in the club. this is why, of course, we are double happy to welcome a hive club resident on our hive audio 001.
played by magda, loco dice, luciano !! the sublabel of oslo presents the >dos< ep, a modern interpretation of classic house grooves. two extra class club tools, which develop their effect deep, funky and drifty on the dancefloor. >dos< by federico molinari remains as usual percussive, whereas >tres< of christian burkhardt comes hypnotic. a successful ep, which is focused on the dancefloor

whats the secret of making a dance floor explode? if youd like to learn just open christian burkhardts contemporary box and look whats inside: at a first glance, it seems that it doesnt contain a lot, except for 3 dance tools. but once on the turntable you may discover the whole secret of this release. what seems to be so simple is a complex construct of percussive elements and basslines that are being arranged just in the right way. contemporary box finds it s peak without even having one, just by grooving on and on, monotonously, with jumping sticks and a pushing bassline. maison noir moves a little more to the housier side and is being carried by warm chords as well as by effective percussions. phey boom brings in a certain coolness and carries that great release home
big with magda, ricardo villalobos, vera, luciano, dorian paic !! kreiskollaps is the track which starts the new oslo label, having proofed its ability to rock dancefloors nationwide. christian burkhardt presents a slice of contemporary minimalism, adding lush atmorspheres and rounding it up with a deep pumping bassline. think thats enough? wait till you here federico molinaris remix, hes already showcased his remixing skills on raummusik and 8bit and takes the whole thing to another level. its more on the housy and hypnotic tip but still maintains the whole context of the track and is sure as hell going to move your butt. also dressless by christian burkhardt is more of a housy affair, groovy as hell complementing perfectly the ep
