as internationally renowned dj and producer, uk dance pioneer sasha doesn t need much of an introduction - he s been busy revamping genre expectations since the late 80s and became famous through a plethora of musical endeavours, from residencies at legendary clubs such as the hacienda, shelley s and renaissance to an era-defining dj partnership with john digweed in the 90s or his solo studio efforts that include remixes for the xx, pet shop boys, foals, gusgus, madonna and countless other stars.

this 4-tracker from spanish affkt might quite simply be his best release to date. i have always admired his different and quirky productions and as the followers will know we have released tracks with affkt before.this time me and marc (aka affkt) went deep into a&r ing the release to make sure all tracks reached their full potential. tracks have been added and removed from the release over time. the tracks have been re-arranged, adjusted, revisited over a period of 9 months time (yes thats how much time we spent carefully putting this release together and making sure it was perfect). i am really proud of what marc acomplished with this release on noir music. all 4 tracks work really well in the clubs and they each have a very strong affkt signature which i wont bother describing in detail by words but rather have you listen to these amazing squared pieces.

it’s time for local talk to go local again with another swedish producer, eric ericsson. with numerous releases out in labels like planet e, fragile and freerange he’s one of those producers with one foot in the techno scene and another in the more soulful house scene. basically, he s not a one trick pony! for his release on local talk we would say he lands somewhere between classic chi-town house and thumping nyc house groove but without sounding too retro or washed out. its simply real house music! we begin with love it, a real bumpy house track with analogue basslines and swinging fender grooves that will work both stateside and in the european house clubs. the second track the chi is as the title suggest a homage to chicago with a slight old school boo williams fee. - dope! but thats not all, to give the release a broader twist we got man of the moment oskar offerman (berlin) to remix love it for us. oskar goes more deep with his trademark sound and gives us a dark mix that will sound amazing in your favourite berlin club of choice.

grebenstein is a producer, dj and visual artist living in kassel, germany. after playing in several bands as a drummer and guitarist he made his solo-debut with a 4-track ep on the regis helmed label downwards records in november 2014. the gloss 4 track ep for horo comes after his downwards records follow up strong, proud, stupid, & superior with seefried was released in october 2016. title track gloss centres on percussive crescendos and pensive guitar layers, while self and its version stretch this effect out into a grinding, slow motion introspection. loss closes the ep with serrated drum machine blasts punctuating feedback contortions. the tension throughout the ep is palpable, with the shaping of the tension providing the substance of his signature style. non club tracks for open minded clubs.

kiki gyan’s star didn’t burn long, but it burned bright. drafted into the afro funk super group, osibisa, at 15, he was millionaire by 18 and regarded as one of the best keyboardists in the world by 21. ‘life was good, man,’ he told journalist kweku sakyi-addo. ‘too good!’. in 1983 he dived head first into the new york party scene. he took a lot of drugs, spent a lot of time in clubs and got together a team of crack local musicians to record feelin’ alright, his third and final solo album. all the kiki gyan trademark elements are present and correct. the album is unique a blend of highlife music with electronic funk and disco. ‘rosemary’ follows the formula most closely and was a hit across nigeria and ghana. but on ‘give it to me’, ‘love to love you’ and the title track, you’ll hear a slicker, boogie-influenced sound that has made feelin’ alright one of his most sought-after albums. kiki gyan would never hit such heights again. his addictions eventually took hold and he died aged 47, destitute and alone. feelin’ alright remains one of the brightest stars in his extraordinary constellation.

a mainstay in the underground house music scene for almost twenty years, joeski makes his next move on the mighty crosstown rebels with a sublime ‘tribute ep’ to the great divinity obatalá. the ep journeys through three tracks, where ethereal layers are used to infiltrate the dancefloor and varying tribal percussions, native chants and vocal haunts flow effortlessly throughout. from yoruba religion, obatalá is an orisha, sky father and creator of human bodies. joeski explains -i’ve been wanting to do this tribute for a while now. it’s a creative musical offering to obatalá. i feel like crosstown is the perfect home for it too.- joeski’s roots are in the underground house scene of nyc in the 90s, where he played regularly at historical clubs such as the limelight, tunnel, palladium and roxy. later establishing himself as a producer he began releasing music on nrk, siesta, shaboom, tango, junior boys own and many more. he also runs his successful label, maya records.

lucas koprowski aka his dirty secrets was born and raised in poland, today he resides in beautiful key west, florida. lucas began his career in music whilst attending the music academy in poland, graduating with his masters in classic violin. constantly searching for new techniques to expand his musical repertoire, he began taking recording studio classes, mastering software and analog instruments. eventually he designed the sounds that he later applied to his music, first, with hip-hop, then with nu-disco, which gave the original artists more recognition and independence. winning the competition for the best mix in south florida gave him a chance to play a set in one of the best underground clubs in america, the electric pickle. in 2016, he published his first ep, a compilation of his disco edits and house music with midnight riot in london. the single ended up in at #1 for several weeks on the juno disco charts and gave him the opportunity to release the vinyl with another uk label, masterworks, positively reviewed in mixmag magazine and more.

nathan bartell grew up in a little town called ashburn, georgia but soon moved to atlanta georgia where he began to perform in the night clubs. in 1973 he released “top going down, bottom going up” on the soul-po-tion label. bartell remembers: “at the time i was having family problems. my wife didn’t want me and i was deep in love. i felt at that time that i was at the bottom of the pit and i wanted to rise up out of that mess because my wife made me feel that i was a nobody. i was not good enough for her - nobody wants you when you are down and out. she felt that she were on the top and i was on the bottom. this song was a message at that time.” there is nothing for us to add except that we are delighted to bring this little beauty back to new life.

the second release on our recently launched label comes from no other than our unique ricardo villalobos, under his germanized moniker richard wolfsdorf. besides being a world touring dj and headlining the best clubs and festivals around the planet, he has been a reference producer for everyone interested in forward thinking dance music over the last one and a half decades. at mdrnty we all love his music, dj sets and personality and he has been a key player at our events for many years, so it is with great honour that we welcome him on our new label. faithful to his style, he offers us an over 20 minutes length song divided in two sides. featuring canadian singer beaver sheppard, fiva is a mind bending minimalistic trip. beavers mumbling voices add the perfect balance to ricardos abstraction and hypnotism. once more ricardo shows us how much can be said with only a few elements and how deep it is possible to dive and wonder into his sparse music landscape.

daniele di martino now comes back with an ep that is made for long and dark nights in the small clubs. therefore, di martino goes back to his roots by creating straight deep house combined with a pushing bassline, as he does in the original version of faust - providing a result that is perfect to be played somewhere in the deepness of the night when there is no time for hesitation. the second track different comes a bit more melodic, includes vocal snippets and leaves space to breathe und feel - while the bass is as dark, it could dig an aisle in the middle of the dancefloor.

irish producer leonid is welcomed on board of the itdr spaceship for their second installment. after putting out impressive releases on sistrum and dolly (to name a few), paul smith comes up with a stellar 4 tracks ep cut for clubs dancefloors. landing deep in planet x analogic territories, you will find leonid distinctive acid grooves fused in heavy basslines with amazing percussion work for a mystic journey across nibiru s galaxy.

following on from 2015 s mammoth release, work them records call in flexxseal boss christopher joseph, parisian duo behzad & amarou and label founder spencer parker to remix caiazzo the dredge ep. punchy kicks and eerie drones initiate christopher josephs recreation of lowbrow as numerous dusky atmospherics ebb in and out of the mix. next up, renowned concrete paris residents behzad & amarou deliver a mesmerising slice of techno with intricate percussion, floating pads and metallic aesthetics in their remix of dredge. on the b-side, work thems spencer parker presents two versions of refraction that emphasise ample low-end, sinister whirrs and an undulating synth that will continue to shake clubs throughout the future.

newcomer arran trax arrives with an ep of ethereal melodic house music and the first vinyl release for madrid label envy music. hailing from the scottish isle of arran but long residing in hamburg, ‘whiting bay’ and ‘ailsa craig’ draw on the mysticism and beauty of his native island. glasgow’s tre turner and l.a. resident ricky tinez rough things up on remix duty with two direct-to-tape vintage jams for the clubs.

following releases on labels such as greco-roman, ttt and templar sound, dro carey (eugene ward) returns to the scene with his new offering, the industrious yet delicate track queensberry rule featuring the vocals of ku&#268,,ka, taken from his dark zoo ep, out now via australian label soothsayer. where his previous releases have been firmly focused on the smoke-riddled clubs, queensberry rules sees dro carey traverse new territory. working with ku&#268,,ka and collarbones marcus whale on the track, queensberry rules sees the sydney producer creating a unique pop sound, however maintain the gritty dna that he is so distinctively known for.

2011 is set to be a huge year for yousef, and arguably his strongest yet in the production field. after spending much of 2010 recording remixes and productions for other leading labels yousef has come back super-strong on his own seminal circus recordings proven here if needed by his latest vinyl production. it is centered on a very simple premise. taking 2 pieces of music and recreating them with yousefs indiscernibly brilliant club night in mind. a resolutely dance floor-focused ep, that combine to create a unique aural tapestry representative of the circus and yousefs own musical evolution. each is an intricate and heartfelt paean of love to circus and the huge impact it has had on both clubland and yousefs career for the last almost nine years, with the clubs birthday approaching this september. yousef says that, >the ep is a special project for me and one that is indicative of the way im progressing. getting to re-shape these tracks from some of my most respected peers has been a great opportunity to craft them with that special circus sound<

rfbcolours 004 is aimed at the dark, jazzy smokey affairs. from the off u can see the imspiration fro the ep title with the a1 track from sombro and embezzlement society capturing a low end, horn sampled groover with rough claps and an undeniable groove. georgi barrel delivers again with something that will warm up the coldest clubs or capyure you on sunset terraces. long island sound hit the pianos hard on the slower paced but equally as grabbing and tense -grit-. label owner jamie trench rounds off with night lanterns which is a track thats been waiting for a space on wax for a good few years now and fits beautifully with the rest of the ep.
