our last ep of the year is a special one as it marks one year of releasing records for keep it zen so we called on ian blevins along with remixes from amsterdams frits wentink and berlins nick beringer to end our year on a high. ian blevins is an influential name in the underground house scene and was mentioned by resident advisor as one of ibizas most talented residents. years of passionately listening to and searching for music, both new and old, has seen ians style mature which has helped shape his own productions and his mysterious duo al gobi.

looking back it has been a killer year for dj haus and his pair of labels, unknown to the unknown and hot haus, and it seems like he wont be easing the gears down from unfcknrelenting now december has arrived. the latest hot haus release (the sixth issued since september!) sees a welcome return for whippersnapper producer palace whose vision 12 inch is the third record issued on the uttu offshoot in a year! if you liked previous palace records, you love the three tracks here which are all raw and effective dj tools sprinkled with immediacy, individuality and nagging basslines - *solstice* in particular is a real burner of a track. dont sleep!

continuing a strong line of afro inspired works, men like pedestrian & jasperdrum drop another scintillating technoid excursion on 2nd drop. deeper, moodier with dynamically carved esoteric angles, *origins* moves forward from the superb kalakuta, the afrobeat meets bass music bomb supported by giles peterson, scuba, midland, mr scruff and many more, from last year, to deliver a heads down destroyer. off kilter, wonky and expertly crafted, pedestrian & jasperdrums *origins* is pure class, led by a host of syncopated percussion, haunting flute lines and distorted vocal samples, this is what fela would have sounded like if he had teamed up with carl craig in 2014! on the flip we welcome alix perez, best known for his dnb production but widely talented as shown by his arp101 outings on the likes of eglo. here, alix takes the tools to kalakuta, transforming the originals afrocentricity into a tense, punchy roller, dominated by a bass line which literally jumps in to your ears. toss in a stabby synth line, rifle shot drums and plenty of bass with space, this a beautifully crafted refix.

after a five year hiatus makaton makes a storming return to token. to be expected, bailey delivers a ruthless body of work incorporating hardcore components of british techno.

sometimes, there is a certain attention for a new artist and you can actually feel that this one is about to go through the roof. this is exactly the feeling we have with few nolder right now. with releases and tracks on boso, suol, cloud vision and not to forget his little summer hit *if* on connaisseur in late august, the vilnius resident has caught quite some attention over the last months. now, he completes this successful and busy year with his frst full ep on connaisseur called *moli*, featuring three new lovely tracks.

swedish artist farbror resande mac debuts on mystic & quantum with the six track album yttre rymden, having first surfaced earlier this year with a fine outing on is it balearic? if you are familiar with mystic & quantum, you know the label deals in lovingly presented releases of a musically conceptual nature, and yttre rymden retains that status quo. a typically cryptic introduction from the label states the following: yttre rymden is a travel by boat leading to adventures around the world. yttre rymden might mean outer space but what defines outer space sometimes depend on which way you look at things. this story looks at the outside world from within and utilizes travels and adventures as a way to explore the world as outer space.

galdoors announces its 5th release, from label boss junes. after a run of successful eps featuring artists such as elgato, leif and audio werner, young uk producer junes steps up with three diverse cuts that push forward the labels emerging sound. despite its relative youth, the label has developed a distinctive aesthetic through minimalist, hypnotic house tracks that are making waves on both sides of the water, heavy support has come from big-boy jocks like ben ufo, daniel bell and mike huckaby. earlier this year, co-owner tamess gal004 release featured on joy orbison’s radio 1 essential mix and ben ufos dekmantel festival promo video, establishing the labels forte for delivering the best productions of its co-owners. gal005 is no exception, with junes developing his sound through an assured three-tracker. root pattern leads the way: a killer groove that cuts perfectly through an undulating melodic soundscape. on the flip, transfer bubbles over - playful yet threatening - and iced finishes off with a broken slab of soundsystem tension.

after the huge success of *say no more* featuring azari & iiis cedric at the beginning of the year, birmingham bred subb-an is back on board crosstown rebels to deliver yet another incredible release. *vapour trails* is a solid, driving club track with that distinct subb-an sound featuring highly captivating vocals from amsterdams the million plan. also directed straight at the dancefloor with a deep hypnotic breakdown, the *terrace dub* perfectly fits into the series of terrace remixes the talented producer has released lately. specifically requested as remixer by subb-an, legend matthew herbert delivers a completely new musical adaptation with fantastic use of the vocal that plays out as the track constantly evolves. on the b-side *oasis* leads with swinging grooves, progressing into prominent hats, a unique stabbing bassline and a trippy vocal from whitney fierce formerly of hercules & love affair.

last year saw the emergence of london disco outfit payfone. their debut 12 inch, titled *international smark* became something of an underground hit with lovers of disco, electro and balearic alike, sounding like a meeting between metro area, abba and 80s video game sensation *outrun*. now signed to golf channel, payfone is back with a weighty boogie inspired 3 track e.p. packed with muscle and modern pop sensibility. this second release comes co-mixed to perfection by in flagrantis sasa crnobrnja.

las finest peaking lights give bart davenport a dubby synth makeover with a california sunset flavour. after releasing his physical world album on vinyl and cd with us earlier this year, on cassette with the über everything burger records, and subsequently premiering it on pitchfork, bart davenport officially became the king of cool. surely you can t get much hipper than that? the thing is, you can. because lo and behold, we have a remix of el bartos *girl gotta way* by none other than peaking lights. on 10 inch vinyl. with a stick-on beard tucked in the sleeve. okay, no beard. but the other stuff is true. without losing any of the melancholy of the original, our la friends come up with a balearic-via-west coast affair, replacing some of the nostalgic sounding guitars with equally longing keyboards and gorgeous synth lines, invoking the sounds of ryuichi sakamotos *beauty*. score!

until recently, the legendary ricardo villalobos was the only one to remix acclaimed norwegian folk singer mari kvien brunvoll. ricardo s -celestial remix- of the track -everywhere you go-, has been widely played in the underground music scene this year. the italian dj,producer marco faraone, who s music has also made it into labels like desolat, all inn and moon harbour, loved mari s voice, and decided with his friend piegaja, to remix a different song called > something inside<, just for fun, himself and in his own dj sets. but when mari heard it, she decided to officially release it !!! check this masterpiece rework! limited one-sided vinyl 12 140gr gatefold! vinyl only

this e.p. sets out to honor to spring wherever and when it may happen. it arrived early for our location the year it was first created. *furuike ya - ancient pond* was the original title. this is taken from an ancient haiku by matsuo basho. the remix for *ancient pond* was created by jason drummond (aka dj spun) from rong music nyc. this rework of the original adds a funky twist to the beats and bass line. *electric sheep* is taken from the philip k dick book including this portion its title. the theme of this track hints on the nature of our creations and the future possibilities. this particular version contains only the 303 melodies/elements of the original, which is set to be released in the next ep to follow. pressing on transparent, blue colored vinyl.
