oberman knocks original version (white) is a laid-back affair housed within a glassy place of worship, echoing with monastic vocals, strings, wind instruments and field recordings, which are offset by synthetic beats, funk bass and entwined sleazy vocals.
in contrast autechres remix (black), panning out at just over 17 minutes long, is everything that you wouldd expect from the duo – a frantic, fractured and detailed to within an inch of its life piece, that has no need to build, but instead unravels and mutates into what is an unmistakable autechre crescendo.
whilst both versions play out at opposite ends of the tempo spectrum, what connects them is that they are both emotional machine music with guts and vigour.

roots for bloom bring in four new faces for the seventh release. we see label boss jamie trench deliver an edit and remix of daniel curpen - daddy was a thug, and david moran teams up with albert vogt for their track cut loose and then collabs with mark crumbs for tha bassment. the a side sees jamie bring a rolling dub edit to daniels original and then takes things a little darker for the a2 remix. david morans cut loose shows off the vocal talents of albert vogt which grooves along seductively, then tha bassment as expected brings things a little harder and more for those after hour spots.

after the introductory acid dose of delft 00x, label founder la-4as levelled ep, delft introduces the second of its repertory players, matrixxman. delft 001 delivers more tough dancefloor-focused machine music, crafted by the san francisco producer who already made a splash in 2013 with the killer techno cut protocol.

this limited edition 7 vinyl from mcm, released in conjunction with headcount records is a little slice of history. the former lyricist and front-man of the pioneering uk hip hop crew, caveman delivers two solid joints. caveman was the first uk hip hop group to get signed to a major label and signed to profile records in 1990. the crew quickly established themselves as one of the uks most popular and versatile acts. over 20 years after the first caveman album, mcm is back. the a side cut, r.e.a.l (rhymes equal actual life) is featuring fellow high wycombe emcee c-lone and is produced by rinse dog with the cuts by mr brown. the b-side cut is through and through mcm.
