the second of two zentrum spinoffs is with us! as with the first, it comes loaded with four remixes. octo octa, vito & druzzi, cooper saver and turbotito, and lemonade all handed in top-notch reimaginings of tracks off jacques renault s debut lp, which came out just under a year ago, and they all somehow manage to be unique unto themselves while also sublimely bleeding into one another. octo octas rendering of mi casa samba serves as a propulsive beginning thats as dark and druggy as it is sharp and focused. vito & druzzis take on faith runs in a similar vein, but in a more stripped-back, drawn-out, and patient sort of way, it is nearly ten minutes long, so this is perhaps not a surprise. the b s remixes are brighter, sunnier, though that s not to say they re not bold. cooper saver and turbotito s redo of words has a certain funky swing to it that, paired with spacey synths and balearic bells and whistles, makes it ideal daytime disco fodder. the lemonade boys close the ep with their vibey take on faith. pads for days, a plump bass, and a focus on the original s sax make you wonder if the song itself somehow got stoned from a couple extra giant bong rips. a fitting way to end both the 12inch and the summer.

in 2013, underground rap heavyweights blu and nottz teamed up for gods in the spirit, one of the years most critically adored eps. and upon its release, the duo made it clear they werent done there, but also werent about to rush their follow-up. as much as fans clamored for its release, blu and nottz earned the ability to take their time with their sophomore effort. and thats evident throughout titans in the flesh, which builds on its predecessor and proudly stands on its shoulders.

8 years after rainer weichhold s original bamboo release on great stuff recordings kickstarted his dj- and producer career it s now obviously time for a new version. and it also marks his very first own release on his label gold rcrds including rainer s own update for 2015 plus remixes from ardalan and sacha robotti, two of his favorite producers of the moment.

spherical collections of stars form around black holes in situ, that is, locally to their cosmic neighbourhoods. it is said that future space colonization will rely on sourcing supplies in situ. construction in situ uses raw materials at the site: colossal sculptures such as naqsh-e rustam, the leshan giant buddha and mount rushmore were built in this fashion. wild, organic machine grooves, with a mind’s eye on naked treetops and an early sunset. melody breathes out from dubwise fx, percussion by turns sinewy and floating, sub blasts and stripped synth arrangements. keys on air. spacious, witty, melancholic, deadly.

matt karmil was born in 1979 near the giant pre-historic glockenspiel / mythical neolithic monument known as stonehenge. his debut ep for studio barnhus, following 2014s masterful remix of talaboman, is an homage to the nacksving studio in gothenburg, another mythical place that matt calls home.

django django became known from their electric live performances full of energy, and went on to play memorable shows at festivals across the globe including as glastonbury and fuji rock. born under saturn is the work of a band fired up by confidence and experience and propelled way beyond their diy roots. it has all of the imagination of their debut self-titled album but splashed across a larger canvas.

during 1993 and 1994, between shifts at selectadisc, blagging studio time from diy and looking for a new girlfriend, nail spent time at home with some borrowed equipment a tr-808, tb-303, boss delay pedal and a knackered spring reverb, plus his own korg ms10. recording live & straight to cassette, these acid-soaked sessions were given the name sentipede, after a friend at the time saying one of the tracks made them feel like they were being eaten alive by a giant creepy-crawly with lots of legs. selected from four d90 cassettes full of tracks, 99:wave presents the imaginatively titled one, with just 8 tracks over two slabs of grey vinyl.
