2011 is set to be a huge year for yousef, and arguably his strongest yet in the production field. after spending much of 2010 recording remixes and productions for other leading labels yousef has come back super-strong on his own seminal circus recordings proven here if needed by his latest vinyl production. it is centered on a very simple premise. taking 2 pieces of music and recreating them with yousefs indiscernibly brilliant club night in mind. a resolutely dance floor-focused ep, that combine to create a unique aural tapestry representative of the circus and yousefs own musical evolution. each is an intricate and heartfelt paean of love to circus and the huge impact it has had on both clubland and yousefs career for the last almost nine years, with the clubs birthday approaching this september. yousef says that, >the ep is a special project for me and one that is indicative of the way im progressing. getting to re-shape these tracks from some of my most respected peers has been a great opportunity to craft them with that special circus sound<

love notes from brooklyn offers up this platter from a very exciting new brooklyn artist, subtenant. as it says on the tin, the artisanal acid ep is heavy on the 303 squelches and emotional content. each track has a unique pairing of soul and heavy acid funk. evergeen soul is the clear lead track here, using a female snippet to keep this otherwise tough little number dancefloor friendly. this track is then reworked by detroit underground darling, d marc cantu, who pitches things up into funky rave territory. the flip side sees the title track feature the most soulful chords on the entire record, and then on the b2 the artist himself takes to the mic on know how it feels. this whole ep feels live and direct from the brooklyn underground.

we welcome miles atmospheric onto the common dreams roster with two very special tracks: heal and plight. he is founder of the label atmospheric existence and is previously known as miles sagnia. you can also find him on aesthetic audio, ornate, inner shift music, and applied rhythm technology. his music keeps the raw edge of early uk electronic music, merged with his own sound that is often described as futuristic, lush and deep.
heal is the harder and darker of the two. starting with a steady, monotone baseline and solid kick, we are soon immersed into a mind elevating arpeggiation and floating chords that take it to another level.
plight is the more emotional of the two. it’s a mixture of raw frustration with a splash of passion and love. lush pads rain down from above, while we again feel that deep, dark undertone pushing through.

originally released as a soundtrack in 1974, and long out of print, cinewaxs reissue is remastered from the original tapes and is presented as an exact reproduction of the original album artwork featuring jim pearsalls classic film art. sometimes, it doesnt take very long to create something brilliant. when producer robert evans rejected phillip lambro’s original score for chinatown, jerry goldsmith was hired to create another, from scratch, in just 10 days.

the europe-centered techno scene might be thinking: where is techno in a city as vast, dynamic and electric as new york? it’s alive and well, and keeps growing through aptly-named new york trax. founded in 2016 and based in brooklyn, new york trax is an outlet for new york music, by new york artists, in new york city. new york trax 02 was written by boris brenecki (ontal, impulse controls), who has recently relocated to new york, starting a new chapter in his life and artistic career. this record is the very first material he produced in new york, heavily inspired by the city and its people. ‘the oven’, with its continuous filthy groove intensified by metallic percussions, is a serious candidate for an instant classic and a deadly weapon when used on a dancefloor. the grittiness of “the oven” was depicted through images of the less beaten paths of new york in a well-received official video published recently by the label. dark yet insanely dynamic “transit system”, based on field recordings of the new york city subway, opens with a bang the b side of the record, followed by “strictly hardcore”, a sonic manifesto of brutality. get it while it’s hot!

fresh on the back of the release of his third album good luck and do your best this summer, gold panda signs off an acclaimed 2016 with a very limited 12 of three remixes of music taken from his latest record. having previously re-worked the panda track community, berlin-resident fort romeau once again takes the reigns with a gorgeous, nine-minute pulsing, electro-heavy recreation of the track time eater complete with ghostly synth motifs that twirl around japanese instrumentation culminating in a frenetic release. us producer john roberts, who himself released one of the best deep house records of the year, remixes chiba nights, transforming it into a thumping, acid-tinged affair that mixes space and warped electronics beautifully.

commonly found steering his own nabuco label, noha slides over to constant black (sub label of constant sound) to round out a very productive 2016 with another round of on-point deep house cuts sprinkled with immersive techy leanings. -hamal- may have a stout rhythm section at its core, but the layers of synths and processing on top all speak to a tripped out dubby mindstate, while -palette- only reaches further out into wistful 4/4 territory. there s still a crucial clubby mentality powering this ep though, and the reduced hypnotism of -annabanana- taps into this perfectly before the live drum workout -discovery-. vinyl only release

a1 “young in the tropic” sets the mood deep in the jungle. a thick layer of tribal drums forms the base of this track, with birds of paradise echoing above - mysterious chirps emanate from the deep. at the midway point euphoric stabs emerge to round it off in a heady, reverberant breakdown, sure to get you going on the dance floor.

as a label who encourages exploration and collaboration, it was with great excitement that we received the new project of these guys. mainly, at first because you find here the perfect amount of atmospheric elements with sustaining rhythmic. both tracks fit in many situations, from building excitement and tension to creating a very special moment, using beautiful voices. in those two cases, both tracks here fit perfectly. while the title brings the idea “everything is lost”, this ep has everything ready to bring hotness to clubs.

eshone (donnie valdez) is a 31 year-old graphic designer, music producer and dubstep dj from albuquerque, new mexico now living in poland. eshone has performed in twenty states and several countries, including: canada, denmark, poland, the netherlands, and slovenia. donnie s earliest musical memories were his electric guitar playing days and listening to heavy-metal bands from twenty-five years ago. learning this instrument and listening to heavy-metal expanded donnie s musical horizons to signal processing and sound manipulation. armed with technical knowledge, donnie shifted his focus to music production in 2004, specifically, drum and bass. eshone makes tunes quickly because of his innovative production techniques and instant application of his craft. his frenetic production pace is closely related to his high-energy live three deck sets. donnie learned how to mix in 2003 and had plans on becoming a turntablist. currently, donnie prefers to mix and blend his productions, which focus on heavy basslines and anthemic grooves while keeping a dark vibe and gritty texture. donnie s love of nature and music gave him incentive to create his record label, elk beats. the elk is very similar to donnie s music, internet presence, and online persona: peaceful, present, and powerful. donnie enjoys spontaneous activities, such as: fly fishing, skateboarding, and snowboarding. his other passion is music, and eshone s productions are custom-made for large rooms with low-lights, loud sound systems, and an intense emotional experience.

the paris soulful disco scene is pretty hype right now and young pulse is definitely one of the key players. after three highly successful eps on gamm, young pulse is now set for his fourth release in the celebrated paris edits series. as always with young pulse we re served the blacker and more soulful side of disco and this time we get a proper prime time philly stomper on the a side and a uplifting feel-good boogie tune on the b. together with the new (and very beautiful) design we got another gamm winner folks!

having thus far released eps for aficionado and music for dreams, a vision of panorama return to their regular haunt mellophonia to expand on the promise of their shorter works to go deep into a balearic dream on aquafusion. it s a perfect meditation on serene funk from start to finish, spanning eight tracks of tender musicianship that sit very easy on the ears. the likes of surf blue almost do away with drums entirely in a quest for calm, while barbados and others offer up a more sprightly vision of 80s-flavoured groove, but throughout the mysterious hands behind the record maintain a smooth and steady mood that binds the album together.

as we welcome another talented artist to our family we asked viken about the first part of a two part release and he told us it s really important to understand that this ep is a series of pictures telling a story. combining the names of all the tracks one gets this interesting and dreamy sentence, on a blue road a white shadow feels the winter. to translate these pictures into music, i needed a very particular sound. since i am a huge fan of jazz music i took one of my favorite records, used a lot of samples and reworked them in my own way. from the technical aspect, i decided to reconnect with my first love: analog machines. i love working with sound textures. i stayed away from my laptop and all my vst/plugins as i felt the need to compose these tracks in an unusual way: i wanted the sound to be really pure. that s the reason why this process was so essential for me. for me, this ep is the first one to sound like this. this is the first of two releases from a deeply talented soul. a patient collage of house, jazz, acid squiggles and deep emotion. played and loved all summer long by lee burridge at all day i dream, these tracks will stay with you through winter and into next summer.

plant43 aka emile facey returns to cpu with his second ep for the sheffield imprint, and brings more of his ultra-refined electro to the table. surgical pads, robotic x0x beats and melodic basslines fuse the tracks into faceys signature science-lab machine funk. facey has been very busy since his last outing on cpu back in 2013, with an lp on shipwrec, and ep s on semantica, ac records and frustrated funk. he is showing no sign of slowing down and weightless in the void pushes his sound even further into the future

once again its on. after a brief hiatus secret society return on their brand new label. since their very first release, our society support has been building for the deep house outfit from nyc. the debut ep on their label is heavily influenced by the deep, dubby house sounds of new york, chicago and detroit.
