hailing from the small town of stroud, south west england, marcel lune has been quickly building his reputation as one of the hottest new talents in the uk bass music scene. having discovered an 808 in his parents attic at a young age, it quickly became one his favourite toys and set him off on a musical voyage which is beginning to gather momentum. having already released a string of releases including a full album for studio rockers last year, this release with local talk is a new chapter in the ever growing marcel lune saga. this debut for local talk is nothing short of brilliance. an ep that sits somewhere between the early floating points days and local talk s very own crackazat jamming with harvey sutherland. from the opening track sketches marcel brings broken house rhythms, piano chords and dancing acid lines in a glorius way. the clever vocal arrangement on eat good takes no prisoners and on the flip crazy love , another vocal track, marcel slows things down a bit together with vocalist bluesz. the ep ends with soul music, upping the energy level slightly with its snappy, jazz-influenced beats and dancing synth lines. a beautiful and fitting addition to the ever expanding local talk catalogue.

anton pieete is known for his classic, textured take on house & techno. the dutchman has spent recent years exploring the reaches of his analogue set up, releasing a string of hugely popular eps for joris voorns rejected imprint. now he turns over his latest wares to ovum, with another impressive offering in the shape of themenu. while it may be our starter, first dish peven is definitely more of a main course. heady and intoxicating with itspercussive, funky drums and undulating keys, its carries us on its woozy wave of rich analogue bass. our appetite is further satisfied by the deeper sophisticated tones of lite green. its malleable, swinging groove is governed by its pulsating bassline and dense kick-drum as lazer synths sweep and claps fire on thisclassy cosmic jam. bn300s dramatic and ghostly strings are at odds with its frenetic bouncing bass melody and yet together theywork in complete harmony to create our final musical indulgence from the menu.

post pluto’s third release “abercrombie st.” brings together sydney based producers adam stromstedt, t.hanks and subaske for a diverse ep suitable for the dark room. all three producers bring their own flavour to the release which traverses tripping techno, booty shaking house and dubby electro.

following on from radio slaves vision that landed earlier on in the year, rekids assembles three colossal remixes from rodhad, obscure shape & shdw and johannes heil. rodhads remix leads the package with tantalising synths, filtered effects and stuttering percussion that together assist in generating an impending tension. on the flip, obscure shape & shdw immediately drop cavernous kicks before the originals distinguishable pads brighten up an otherwise dark and sinister aesthetic. tying up the package, johannes heils ethereal rendition echoes throughout providing a deep and mesmerising conclusion.

as the summer draws to a close serge devant returns once more to damian lazaruss crosstown rebels with the highly infectious this moment ep. serge original tracks are accompanied by a great dinky remix, to complete this great package. opening up the ep with this moment, devant has created a track that implores the listener to stop and take in all the vibrations, effects and melodies. this is a piece of music that intricately weaves together a hefty bass, curious sounds and an addictive horn. pay close attention to in time and you will be absorbed once more in an enchanting world where all you can do is follow the rhythm of the drums. on the flip and dinky adds her signature vocals, and hooky synth stabs creating a deep and textural remix of this moment.

future times is back at you with more hot wax!! dc s own ov, who came correct with the opening cut on our vibe 3 compilation, shares this 12- with diego (also known as dude energy, suzanne kraft) and together they lift off into the atmosphere with two dope cuts. big tip! . ov s -perc song (chords)- sets a perfect, humid scene full of string licks and syncopated chunk, before it rinses the -(chords)- and cools way out, setting the scene for -crack- on the flip. diego s track climbs all the way up, cutting in slippery drums and arpeggios underneath the floating, soaked synths, before the end of the tune gives way to pure pad bliss.

the second release of another earth is upon us and this time it s all about proper detroit techno combined with distorted left wing machine house. the label combines 2 acts together in a split ep series which compliment each others sound. for the a-side the highly talented producer, plural (separate skills, metroplex, u.s.), created 2 essential detroit techno tracks. the a1 is a warm uplifting peak time bomb and the a2 has a darker vibe concentrated on the groove. the b-side hosts 2 tracks from the intriguing mind of hakim murphy (machine dreams, chicago, u.s.). the b1 is a heavy distorted peak time house banger while the b2 is quite the opposite, deep and obscure.

there’s much to be said for chance meetings. vitruvians – in their words, “a meeting of minds, cultures, styles and experiences, powered by music, and designed by faith” – owe their very existence to once such random encounter.
in the summer of 2014, producers frankie valentine and thomas “t-ash” sciurpa bumped into each other in a london shoe shop. over a fine selection of brogues and loafers, the conversation drifted onto music. the duo quickly realized they had much in common, and a plan began to form: they would get together and make music as vitruvians, using the alias as a vehicle for their collaborative work.

with their debut lp corolla for antime, the berlin-based trio soft grid captures the explosive energy of its celebrated live shows. soft grid was started in 2014 in an abandoned hospital ward by jana sotzko (of dropout patrol) and theresa stroetges (alias golden diskó ship), who had previously been working together in the improvisation project epiphany now.

spooky-j spearheads blip discs darkest, most outlandish and hands-on dispatch to date. the a side is most definitely a heads down floor mover with meditative sounds akin to early dubstep, whilst the flip finishes in complete style with 808 infused dnb - two genres rarely seen together on a record, but held together superbly by spooky-j’s unbelievable live percussion work. nerds and geeks rejoice!

d3 elements continues to mine the fertile soil of midwest inspired house, techno and electro with this fantastic new album from michael dykehouse (sometimes found turning out experimental fare on planet mu and ghostly). here the grooves are immediate and engaging across nine tracks, from the bubbly -meltdown morning- to the spooked-out -clock division-, touching on a range of styles all bound together by a commitment to classic drum machine beats and synthesiser tones. this is far from a throwback record though, instead celebrating dykehouse s innate musicality through all manner of tempos and moods and coming out as a well-rounded long player in the process.

surely one of the finest calibre remixes. sublime from start to finish, jaheim’s soulful vocals are weave around calibre’s deft d&b beats. the bass line drop is so sweet and the piano line ties this together beautifully. 14 years old and sounding better than ever, fall in love with both jaheim and calibre all over again.

for over five years, all day i dream has been where deep and emotive meet house music. propelled by a community of forward thinking artists drawn around the scion of master curator and sunset/sunrise set specialist, lee burridge. all day i dream formally welcomes lost desert to the label with the release of lingala, a two-track collaborative effort with burridge himself, that also features junior on vocals. lost desert was picked out of obscurity after burridge discovered his music while trekking in a remote area of a long lost land. a fast forged friendship inevitably lead to the studio, and lingala’s the enrapturing sophomore result. the duo’s first project together debuted on lee’s night time imprint, get weird, earlier this year to widespread support. lingala, is a beautifully composed ten-minute sonic journey. built around a mystical lead vocal sung by newcomer junior in his native linagles the raw emotion slowly builds in intensity over propulsive basslines and deep melodic grooves . gorje hewek & izhevski’s interpretation of lingala is a markedly different affair. focussing on musical layers rather than the vocal the duo’s signature spacey atmospheres and minimal rhythmic percussion add extra strings creating uplifting moments that contrast the original’s mood.

the newest entry in the srr catalogue comes from founder of monolith records and resident of liber null berlin, sirio grimaldi. the release delivers a collection of tracks deeply inspired by human genetics and nanotechnology where in a post-industrial techno conundrum heavy distortion and deep sub frequencies merge together to bring to life a dark, heavy yet delicate avante-garde modern techno intepretation. ken karter and mynude support the release by sharing their interpretations of the two main tracks with hypnotic unorthodox techno rollers.

the second release on the vinyl only series of apes go bananas finally drops. the label is the new imprint from steve bug and clé, who together make up the production team for the releases. as with the well-received first ep, all we have is straight-up, no-nonsense, dance floor-filling house tracks. lead cut ‘all we have settles right into the groove with crisp and funky percussion, chi-town chords and amazing vocal samples. its got peak time written all over it. she cargo makes its influences pretty clear via the title, and the track certainly references some of the iconic sounds of the home of house. thick, rubbery bass lines, squiggly synths and firing percussion combine to deliver a suitable a homage to the windy city. ‘ape parade is built from some similar materials, but the chords are a little more lush and deep - synth strings and keys add a sense of the epic, and everything is tied together with a sick kick / snare / hat pattern. three modern killers for the floor, infused with the spirit of classic house.

four never before released or publicly available demo cuts from the writing sessions of craig peyton and jolyon skinner circa 1983-1985. the duo produced and wrote hits for artists in between working on their own projects. these songs survived the past 30 years on a cassette tape, which was lovingly transferred for this exclusive to peyton records release. after their short but fruitful collaborative period, peyton went on as a writer and band leader and skinner went on to have a career as a songwriter for pop acts such as joe, nsync, and freddie jackson. in the words of craig peyton: “jolyon skinner and i met in the early ’80s through our mutual friend keith diamond (the trinidadian producer of hits such as “caribbean queen” by billy ocean). after we met, jolyon and i started regular writing sessions at my nyc p-factor studio. our first break came in 1983 with howard johnson’s “let this dream be real-. that was followed up with “love of a lifetime” by melba moore and “where ya gonna be tonight” for will collins. after this we were offered a recording deal by april blackwood music, but due to my contract with profile records at the time we couldn’t accept it. shortly after skinner got signed to zomba and we stopped writing together around 1985.

bring 2 electronic masterminds together in the same studio and you’ll be gifted with a new perspective over what techno sounds like nowadays. super moon, a fresh collaboration between priku and arapu, has chosen liniar for its second appearance on vinyl. side a sets ground for the whole ep, with its incisive kick and raw bassline that carries the dna for the pure blood acid line, a line that carves space for a light infusion of deep sounds. and it’s the percussion that leads the opening on side b, slapped over the outskirts of a labyrinth of industrial samples, to cool down in a slow paced closing cut, filled with hypnotic hi hats and broken drums. expect super moons creations to stomp a dancefloor near you pretty soon!

ears have eyes are ready to drop their 4th release, this time drawing on the fertile pool of talent available in their adopted home of south east london. we kick off with the duo fyi chris who, while not manning the counter of peckham institution rye wax, have been putting together an impressive string of releases on labels such as church, lumberjacks from hell and rhythm section.

one sided vinyl with silkscreened b side, comes in clear sleeve with poster numbered, edition of 350 dreams really come true: when we heard tomemitsu s beautiful lo-fi indie songs on the cassette -m_o_d_e_s- back in 2013 we fell in love! especially the track -in dreams- followed us around for months. humming it in the subway, singing along in the car. many dreams later we found out that our friend and fellow hamburger stefan marx also loves the song and even named an art show after it. coincidence? surely not, so together we made the plan to release -in dreams- on vinyl. luckily tomemitsu himself was very happy with the idea and even allowed rss disco to remix the song. the notorious dj and production trio upped the tempo to head-spinning 99bpm, recorded additional drums & bass and added several minutes of pleasure. finally, the two tracks will be released on vinyl for the first time. screen-printed records, including a poster in a clear sleeve. music by tomemitsu, designed by stefan marx, remixed by rss disco, released by mireia records. it s all a dream!

in celebration of palette recordings 20 year anniversary, palette releases a special re-issue of john tejadas timeless classic timebomb and the timebomb vip mix. both versions were originally released in 2001 and 2002 on daniel bells 7th city records. with permission we now for the first time have them together on the same 12inch release. remastered by stefan betke at scape mastering they now sound better than ever. both versions became instant classics, have been played over the years by the worlds top djs and have been licensed to numerous compilations. timebomb original and vip are 2 classic tejada tunes that have stood the test of time

the second release on tb arthurs (312) label finds the mysterious artist revealing a collaborative project with magda as blotter trax. the pair first encountered each other at the famous motor city record store record time, when detroit artist bmg introduced his then co-workers magda and derek plaslaiko to arthur, who was visiting the shop from chicago. sometime after that meeting, magda and arthur went into the studio and jammed together for a week, the session was recorded live on analog 1/4 tape and then three tracks were selected for release. 1a is six and a half minutes of modulated synth sounds that are psyched out and sci-fi, spooky and truly atmospheric. full of cerebral cinematism, acid lines and ghoulish textures all add up to a truly standout track. 2a then marries dark wave pops and clicks, unsettling alien lifeforms and menacing, slo motion industrial drums into a physical and imposing groover riddled with paranoid sirens and drones. last of all, 2b snakes and slithers its way through undulating drums, cosmic freakiness and gloopy synth sounds that are all seductive and subversive in equal measure. this, then, is a truly fascinating pairing.

gourmet beats 007 is the los angeles ep featuring introspekt, mesck, oxossi, and subtle mind. the idea behind the ep was to bring together some of the hot talent emerging out of the la bass music scene.
