after john coltrane and cannonball adderly left the quintet, miles davis was forced to search for new qualified musicians. he found them in hank mobley, wynton kelly, jimmy cobb and paul chambers. in 1961, just two years after recording kind of blue, miles and his new line up started recording energetically and finished someday my prince will come after only three days.
this album is a cross-over from kind of blue (movlp019), which is known for the typical miles davis-tunes, to traditional pop-standards such as the eponymous title track from >snow white and the seven dwarfs<.

steve bug drops a new outstanding 12inch on his own highly prolific poker flat recordings. those grooves is the perfect primer for his upcoming album (due out in autumn 2012), and sees the man in fine form - masterfully in control of his sound and producing tracks with a depth of dancefloor knowledge most other producers would die for. those grooves, the lead track locks into its exquisitely crafted groove early on, holding a taut balance between its individual elements. mid way through its 10 minutes, bug drops the tempo and lets the groove breath, before bringing it all back home - an audacious late night club weapon. the flip side is no less dramatic – tell me why creeps up, evolving slowing but surely – before an edgy, freaked out bass line drops over the crisp drums. a true peak time burner with enough energy and tension to smash any floor.

alden tyrell hooked up with mike dunn for some new work!. a golden combination which already worked out great as we learned from the heavy remix tyrell did for the murphy jax & mike dunn collaboration (its the music - cat# cjfd06). tyrell always jamming and playing around with his synths had some tracks inspired by early mike dunn songs. so the obvious happened ... the hooked up for some appropiate vocals and here it is ... touch the sky! a peak time acid monster with mikes vocal chant in the style of his classic md3 projects. gerd is on remix duty here and delivers a killer remix with a more traditional chicago groove and build up. clone head honcho serge had some studio time with tyrell for a dub mix. the serge & tyrell dub mix turned out a bit wild and became a classic piece of piano and dx bass driven chicago house music with stuttering vocal samples and a acidic synth line. another strong clone jack for daze!

first up is 92, a straight up jacking deep house number with, as the title suggests, a retro flavour. the deep repetitive pads are jacked up with amen break style drums that were used so widely in electronic music back in the 90s. some quirky synth lines and vocal licks here and there give the track its touch of soul and then a fat bass line to bring in the bottom end. high quality simple yet effective house music...
