it really feels like we (aka mad mats & tooli) have been around way longer than 5 1/2 years with local talk, but it s really true what they say, time flies when you re having fun! from what started as a somewhat simple and almost primitive urge to create a small house imprint has now grown into a much bigger affair. we really tried hard to keep the label from getting stuck in any genre (remember 90s house?) and to always keep the local talk relevant, curious, diverse and with a healthy dose of underground mentality. from our very first release with bassfort s excellent moon shadow in the summer of 2011, we had a crystal clear vision of what local talk should represent... house music in any way, shape or form! over the years we released soulful, disco, jack, afro, vocal, deep, jazz, tech, latin, old school, acid, uk, berlin, new jersey, detroit and of course chicago inspired house music. if it made us bump...we put it out! this brings us up to today and about +80 releases later. we thought about how we best could sum up these first 5 1/2 years and immediately the image of blaze s classic album 25 years later popped up. besides the fact that it s an amazing album cover it also a good representation when different musical genres fuse together. it s not strictly a house album but just as well a r&b, reggae and soul album. this fusion and variation of house sounds is something that we ve tried to capture on our 5 1/2 years later compilation, split into two parts. on part 1 you ll find a dark bassline driven house jam from art of tones (check the mad sax!), a proper deep journey jam from nyc s dj spinna, a blaze homage with that classic new jersey sound from sean mccabe, and a bumpy world/jazz inspired cut straight outta brescia from wonder kid corrado bucci. all in all we think we got most angles covered and hopefully this album will make you spread that chalk on the dance floor and get down...local talk style!

lake people, the man with a knack for aural subtleties, is spot-on with his first ep for uncanny valley. over the course of four tracks he showcases a quiet different approach compared to the sophisticated house music the leipzig based artist released on labels like permanent vacation or connaisseur recordings. on -break the pattern- he relies heavily on the good old boom tschak-paradigm of electro, without completely giving up his trademark sound. -level msk- combines staccato-type chords with a stuttering beat that stick in your mind. the acidic -september futuristic- with its stoic drumming has almost a krautrock feel to it. on the flipside, the playful -chords in chorus- feels like an early contender for this year s summer anthem with chords and acid lines from heaven. the ep closes with -pull off-, a perfect example for lake people s ability to compose tracks with an emotional depth.

acclaimed be as one boss shlomi aber makes a big step up here by putting out a trio of his killer techno cuts on the always excellent and forward looking nonplus label run by boddika. his xy play ep continues in his no nonsense, floor facing style and impresses once more. shlomi aber is an underground titan who runs his own musical empire in the form of his be as one label. he has made it into an essential outlet for no frills house and techno and his own output has found him in fine favour with djs and dancers alike. playing all over the world and also serving as an expert at the emerging ibiza festival on the white isle, here he comes correct once more. the title ep xy play is a brain frying affair with cantering drums and stern synths bringing a dark and intone vibe to the groove. way old story is just as heads down but less ominous, here the synths are a little spooky and add intrigue to his slick rubbery drums. last but not least related sources is a hunched over house track with dub in its kick drums and a desolate industrial feel in the landscapes above. atmospheric from the first to the last moment, this is another killer ep from shlomi aber.

nice price deal !!! it s been a big shock for all of us to hear the sad news that our good friend andreas gehm passed away this year. his last big project is the -worldwide electronics- - series on his own label -cologne underground- which brings his friends from all over the world together. the idea of �worldwide electronics� is to combine music from all over the world on one album (in fact, there will be a vol.2 too). the second idea was to combine well known artist with newcomer. when gehm, who runs cologne underground together with dbh distribution, ask the artist for tracks, he don�t ask for any specific style. the artist were free to deliver whatever they want. so at the end it ended up from deep house (oldschool definition, not edm definition) to acid. �worldwide electronics vol.1� contains one track from greece (dimdj), germany (hardfloor), netherlands (baz reznik), england (perseus traxx), columbia(s.valencia) 2 tracks from japan (takeshi kouzuki and jin-cromanyon) and the first of hopefully a row of collaboration tracks from legowelt (netherlands) and elec pt.1 (germany) as �gehm & wolfers).

reissue of this 20y old timeless classic with a new basic soul unit rmx on the b-side!almost two years ago we reissued dj boom kinda kickin with an extra efdemin remix on curle-p06. because y all loved it so much, we decided to reissue two more matthew herbert deep house goodies. after the very well received linkwood remix of see you on monday it now time for one of herbert s biggest records deeper, from the iconic part two ep, 20 years old but still timeless! on remix duties is basic soul unit, who saw his album released on dekmantel end of last year. we knew he was good, but his remix exceeded each and any of our expectations.

this mini-album marks a shift in emphasis for lustwerk music, with boss galcher lustwerk choosing to showcase the work of another producer for the first time. he s apparently been nurturing florida-based quavius for some time, encouraging the young producer to -experiment more- while following his instincts. it seems to have worked, because the majority of music on this debut release is top notch. it covers a lot of ground, with the a-side alone moving between r&b-inspired hip-house (-love the way-), hip-hop (-magic man-), woozy electronica (-r n v-) and spacey deep house (-composure-). there s naturally plenty more to enjoy on the flipside, too, from the old school deep hip-hop bump of -m 320-, to the crunk-tinged, cut-up goodness of closer -can i be-.

2016 repress , having provided a remix for the label back in 2010 ethyl & flori now release their first full ep for the label, the last ninja kicks things off with an unmistakable old school tech-house feel which to us at fof recalled the classic architecture dj mix by terry francis with its punchy kick, sharp percussion and imbued uplifting warmth. fornjot by flori on the flip is a different proposition, although still deeply entrenched in a throwback to yesterdays production stylings, this is a much more techno orientated groove with the tracks repeated metallic bass riff anchoring the track in a gloriously hypnotic yet fresh way.

dam swindle cap off a blazing summer as they return home to their own heist recordings and in doing so present a landmark 12inch to add to their blooming catalogue. this is their first addition to the label since the hugely successful in reverse ep and it comes as a package that fans both old and new will relish: a jubilant record melding the most groove­laden strands of disco, funk, soul and house.

the formula was simple: marry bubblegum and soul to the absolute sincerity of an enthusiastic child, cross your fingers and pray for airplay. but while the youthful sums of that formula may have grown up and walked away from their illusions of stardom, their permanent records remain. by 1973, michael, tito, jermaine, marlon and jackie were as hip as kids could get�household names, with lunchboxes, coloring books, a saturday morning cartoon, and an alpha-bits cereal commercial pushing the j5 brand onto any kid with television reception. their impressive run of four consecutive #1 singles playing on both pop and r&b stations cemented their appeal to both whites and blacks, prompting mgm to launch the osmonds as the safer (read: white) alternative. and parents? well michael had that wrapped up with his impossible-not-to-love mini-james brown thing. even their song selection straddled both sides, with �zip a dee do dah� and �abc� for kids, and contemporary standards �standing in the shadows of love� and �my cherie amour� for the older crowd. this extreme marketing and merchandising juggernaut created the kid soul explosion. a decade removed from our acclaimed home schooled compilation comes a fresh batch of talent show titans. with enterprising parents, neighbors, and teachers turning play dates into recording dates, groups like magical connection, little man and the inquires, and five ounces of soul emulated the jacksons, who�d made grade-school stardom appear easy as abc. afterschool special: the 123s of kid soul contains 19 tiny tunes ranging from bilingual d.a.r.e. anthem, to james brown bio, to young love and life beyond the playground.

at sneaky we are very pleased to welcome g.markus. what can we say about him? not much apart from the fact that he makes super groovy old-skool house beats like not many can these days. spreading perverted twistedness mixed with great classic housey vocals, �smoking hut� will be how your dance floor will end up when you play this record out. recently also known for releasing great re-edits on soul clap records and as part of s.h.a.g edits va on roots for bloom. what else can we say? well, not much, really. g insisted on having a clause on the contract that clearly states that his true identity shall not be revealed. all we can say is that he�s a real mofo and that you�d be better off listening to his music instead of to this silly banter�

after spending the majority of 2009 in hollywood, chanes briefly returned home to finish up songs for what would become his 2010 release, an experimentation in instrumentation. the 15-track tape, presented by house shoes, exposed us all to the nomadic 21-year-old producer from canton, michigan. chanes would spend the next two years working between home and brooklyn, before relocating to arizona, where he would release his follow up project, renegade hands, (insect records 2013). presented again by shoes, hands solidified chanes as one of the most promising young producers in the country.
fast-forward to 2016, and at 27, this self-titled debut takes us circa 2007 - 2009 with the soul-chopping salad days of his mother s basement, through the alternative sampling williamsburg, brooklyn sessions of 2010. if the melancholy desert psychedelia of his isolated four years in perpetual southwestern summer gives us a glimpse into his growing electronic influences, then the angst of his winter homecomings are hiding under the aggressive parka weather beats that first caught the attention of detroit�s underground.
fittingly, chanes� debut lp comes full circle, finishing the album back in the place it all started and releasing it with long-time supporter house shoes and street corner music.

nice price deal !!! from the beginning, oktored has tried to keep himself away from the pigeonholing nature of the electronic dance scene. seamlessly blending early rave sounds with futuristic beats and melodies, he has really been coming into his own lately. from a young age, he has been into a multitude of different genres of music ranging from ambient to death metal. the next two releases will show just that. the first of which will be the more passive side of oktored.gemini 1 (or the good side) really brings together a feeling of old detroit style techno/house with some new moombahton flavour. the fact that he has been motivated by so many different styles and sounds becomes very apparent on tracks like relax and inéz, while he brings some real deep, future bass styling on the drifter. for fans of future sounds of 8 mile, this release will be a fantastic follow up ep. but that is only one side of our gemini friend. the follow up release, gemini 2 will showcase his darker, more aggressive side. delving into rough, uninhibited bass and beat tracks, oktored will begin to show just how deep his production can go

some more uncut diamonds by s4aw... robert nedelcu aka lecsicu from rural romania is only 26 but already a skillful and dedicated producer of oldschool-flavoured house music with a tek-edge. on top we ve got vocals by berinika van wyk a singer born in south africa. robert was inspired by guys like rick wade, mr. g, kerri chandler, and of course moodyman. his trademark are strong percussions, little harmonies every now and then and a �tracky� atmo to his tunes that sound very chicago-ish. all three original tunes are pure, vintage-style house music a little on the tech side. so this clearly is an ep for the dancefloor and for early morning sessions when the sun s coming up again... �route to 95� received a groundbreaking rework by detroit house music veteran gari romalis. with incredibly deep subbass sequencies he makes this tune a deep jam like you never heard one befor

the debut ep of new-born junction records begins with thorough exploration of driving and percussive techno sounds in the form of label head cool tiger�s warehouse for all�. from atmospheric, suspensive build-ups to warped vocals and glitchy fills, this intelligent production from paris based producer is a sweet taster of things to come and stands proud and deserving as a1 on this release. next up on this release we move to groovier territory with french duo m&c�s droofin�. swinging percussion and warm, soft synths are undoubtedly the driving force behind this track. old school grooves contrasted with luscious, slow-moving pads in the breakdowns combine to create an infectious and familiar house sound. in coherence with junction�s pattern, the final track on this release from german duo dominik fry and skipio is as warm as you would expect. hypnotising vocals, hovering subby pads and gentle arpeggiators characterise this melodic easy-listener.
