over the course of four eps for numbers and creation of his own label �total fantasy�, deadboy has charted his own path far beyond the deep black space of mediocrity with previous records �if u want me�, �here� & �blaquewerk�. on �return� deadboy journeys further into uncharted territories, taking his music to the darkest recesses of disco and extraterrestrial synth-werk. the opening track �return� finds the london-based producer taking cues from the likes of tangerine dream and klaus schulze with a gentle ambient opener that unwraps to reveal a beautiful and moving track. �des niles� is a shimmering disco track built around an 80s boogie bassline, plus those killer deadboy vocal chop-ups that take us even deeper into the producers nighttime world. samples are worked to within an inch of their life on the floor-ready �yhvh�, whilst punchy bass and synth stabs take care of the rest. things then move swiftly on to �life code�, with the deadboy once again notching the tempo down and letting the track�s wistful oriental melodies ride out into the dark.

this time around is the long awaited follow-up to the succesful probe album by roswell return. the original is a mesmerizing piece of minimal electronic music, heavily inspired by composer steve reich. more than 10 minutes of pure synth bliss. on the b-side syncom data take it into deep techno territory with a shuffling and ridiculously low-end remix thats both warm and unsettling at the same time. deep basslines keep pushing everything forward, while the constantly rising church-like organ brings a nervous mayhem quality to it.

a word from label boss chris farrell: this is the new one on idle hands, from us producer strategy. i first came across paul dickows work when he released a 12 inch called *world house* on his own community library label back in 2005. it blew me away. in the ensuing years my friend duncan george who promoted bristol�s best electronic music night - under_score tried on numerous ocasions to book him for a bristol date but it never quite hapened due to the usual things that go wrong in club land. in those years duncan kept in touch with paul and last year suggested to him that it might be worth sending some tracks to me, which he did at the start of 2013� add a peverelist remix and you have the tracks here before you, dub reggae informed house and psychedelic 2 step vibes.
