colman buckley & ray taff, known collectively as dog days make a long awaited return to assembly records, following up woofer (their much lauded 2012 outing) with a new 3 tracker, stand down. a rich tapestry that wears its 4/4 rhythms and its detroit influences with immense pride, this ep features 3 tracks that combine sensuous vocals, tight percussion and melodic hooks that will be lodged in your brain for days to come.

fish go deep return with a double header of intense electronic house music. over a muscular rhythm track, turning stones builds layer upon layer of melody before a jagged synth riff knocks the track into another orbit altogether. the dub takes a different path, with a steady rhythmic pulse that allows plenty of space for the music to soar.

jel ford kicks off his return ep with two tracks of clean big room techno. the title track backyard is a moody affair with a low drone throughout that is complimented with layered synth stabs. using reverb to create atmosphere within the track it subtly breaks down before a vocal hook transcends the track to deliver a killer blow. meeting of minds is dubbier and uses a tripped out synth to add rhythm whilst working alongside a synth pattern to keep the track chugging along. the slow evolving pads add texture and keep the track nicely filled out whilst this timeless classic keeps on giving.
