peters love of obscure disco and house shows in this solo album - wide ranging influences have gone into the musical hot-pot. take the slo-mo lazy groove of lead track and opener love is the key . this sets the sonic palette, laid back, underground and understated (but cucumber cool) throughout. deliberately absent are the commercial and pseudo-poppy sounds from the visti and meyland 2010 debut. this record is a club affair, less in your face and more all around you . for example lost in space is one part elastic groove, one part melodious, enveloping ambience and one part progressive disco groove. tracks such as i m out the door , bubble bubble and drinking in darkness are more direct, straight dance floor booty-shaking grooves. as is what you would expect from the man who has dj stamped firmly into his dna.

after taking a break for more than 6 months bukaddor & fishbeck return with 2 quality tracks. >camino< unites tight and loose aspects in an exciting modern way of club music. the track works on more than one level and incorporates silly little ghosts of sounds and massive basslines and last but not least: a lot of profound sound shaping. >physx< on the b-side is much more warped, moves in way of a snake, does is surreal dreamlike and still makes these brave cuts that throw you back into life. at times this track seems to be quite dadaistic and maybe this accounts for the most experimentell track they have ever released... but it would not bukaddor & fishbeack if this track did not have a atchy clubby side to it.

clandestine techno/house imprint, meanwhile records reveals a one-off opus from two highly respected techno producers, niels luinenberg (delta funktionen) and samuel van dijk (mohlao). the deeply mystical >inward content< session represents the leuwarden sound of their native north holland (also former home to another master of hypnotic repetition ((of the graphic type)), m.c. escher) with an elegant, classically informed and deeply refined brand of 4/4 also identified on celebrated 12inches for ann aimee and delsin. the albums six tracks use an economical production palette, but we wouldnt call them minimal. the emphasis is on subtly monotone melodic shades, from the rippling black masses of bass which power each track, to the bluest hued pads and unfathomably expansive atmospheres which lend them their spectral grace. listening to this album is almost a mystical experience, like hearing the results of a seance conducted in low-lit surroundings calling upon the spirits of basic channel, convextion and the black dog circa 1995. >inward content< took over two years to assemble and techno connoisseurs can clearly discern why. recommended!

tsuba welcomes subb-an with >off the walls<, a slice of future chicago house with jackin bassline, catchy vocal hook and trippy touches you would expect from one of this years rising stars. for the remix, the mighty melon steps in with a tough house mix reminicent

we all knew very well that we had reached a point of no return. there was no need to talk about it. and although there was hardly enough time for us to reflect on our shared experiences, we were sure that everything was going to be alright. all four of us were sitting there, facing each other, sad, yet full of confidence. never again we would allow any meatball to bully us around. we have had enough of this useless on and off, and of all this stupid jobs of even more stupid users. from now on, we will programme our chips ourselves. >go to hell! no one will ever touch my board again! in the future, i will solder it myself, and the way i want it to! robotica, here we come!<

come end of may, dancefloors will be overdosing on awesome music. legendary dirty man housemeister will blow out his third mother-l fucking-p >music is awesome< for the wicked, and rave will reign again. but you can’t just stick your face out into this kind of quality noize - it would mini-melt right off, see!? so housemeister took instant classic electro anthem title track >music is awesome< to some players and friends and said >look boys, i m putting out a smaller dose upfront so nobody will die on the dancefloor, now who s gonna help me save some lives?< everybody was in on this ep effort, of course.

when delorean toured with teengirl fantasy last spring they told us about a song that had really blown them away. when they shared it with us we understood why. it was called >cheaters< and sounded like an instant classic. very different to the trademark psychedelic jams of the duo, the song was homage to classic chicago house from a modern perspective. built around layers of blissful synths and borrowing the vocals of first committees >cheaters never win<, it had that kind of energy that we sometimes miss in contemporary dance music. later that summer, john talabot visited new york and became aware that the track was going to be released by true panther sounds only as part of the album >7am<. something sparked inside us. we felt it was not fair that such an incredible track had to share its vinyls grooves with other songs so we thought it would be nice to dedicate a full maxi side to it.

kicking off 2011 with a killer e.p. is our favourite artist art bleek featuring a number of remixes from the new art supplies album released on loungin this month plus some fresh cuts exclusive to this release. starting the e.p. is a floor filling remix of clap your hands by our own trevor loveys. the original has been out for a few months in the blogosphere and has been picking up some heavy props. next up is hold it (a little longer) where art shows off his true talent of the master of the musical groove with a rolling bass and a choppup vocal lick to keep the party rocking. flip over to side b and you would be excused if you thought someone had swapped the record out for a disco classic. with vox by noelle scaggs and a harmony that nile rodgers would be proud of arthur creates a boogie classic that is very much flavour of the moment. following on is an exclusive remix of the hunt dance featuring the unmistakable voice of ursula rucker. the original on art supplies has had such amazing reactions that we all thought it would be hard to better it, but again arthur has done it delivering a groover for the heads. finally is right on featuring l.as finest charlie sputnik. art delivers a more techy grove to this classic which is a sound he is becoming more recognised for which contrasts so will with charlies trademark smooth vocals.

morphosis has been cooking. friends, nwaq & just for one day got on the re-whisk. these productions live up to all expectations from two of the most awe inspiring out there. turn them up. big tip! when this idea came about, there was some speculation here if it was a going to be plausible prospect. throughout all the deliberation one fact remained: re-workings from these artists would make the perfect precursor 12” to a full morphosis album, and it just had to happen. then it did. nwaq turns in one hell of a dub! an almost relentless 7.5 minute float, that’s underpinned with thriftily placed percussion, and a true beast of a kick drum. no build-ups. no break-downs. so, now… let’s all bow towards to the master. just for one day’s rudeboy drum palette is going to be familiar to more than a few people. let’s just say that this is the new guise of a veteran german producer who’s uncompromising music has graced some of the world’s most exciting record labels over the past 15 years. for this remix he hijacks the ‘android’s among us’ and throws them right into a sound system shootout somehow leaving the core elements from the original track in tact. seriously killer. for fans of 2 step, jungle & dr who(?). please note: this will be a vinyl only affair.

atas volume of the >life at robert johnson< mix-cd series wouldnt be complete with out a 12-inch. here you get two of the most extraordinary songs and mysterious corkers of his outstanding compilation. ramonaäs main man picked grauzone with >raum< and zwischenfalls >flucht< for this special plate. as this wouldnt be a treat in itself already, ata extended the pop arrangement of >raum< into an almost 8 minute long powerful ballroom blitz edit for all you new wavers and old romantics. always remember: the future was already yesterday, but the good times are always now

a great versatile release again where the label shows their fascination for forwrad thinking challenging dance tracks without forgetting that its dancetracks... some references can be made to early british idm, detroit techno or chicago deep house...but somehow these guys have a pretty unique sound so comparing wouldnt do them justice.

6th borough project make a welcome return to delusions of grandeur to deliver their debut lp entitled one night in the borough. as well as a cd the album is being released as 3 individual singles plus a limited edition triple coloured vinyl pack. here we have the first single in the series of 3 including four brand new full-length cuts from the album. find a way kicks things off and sees the guys deliver what we know as classic 6th borough material ie. precision cut, edity disco and soul but heavied up with a fat kick and an arrangement which screams out for peaktime plays. iznae hits next with a brilliant wobbling bassline that brings a warehouse feel to proceedings before the groove drops into an unexpected breakbeat section that harvey mason himself would be proud of. if its loopy downtempo house you re into then look no further than if the feelings right. layers of loops build and drop, filtering in and out whilst grooving steadily along at a sublime 88bpm. finally, changin goes on a classic deep house mission with soft stabs and synth riffs supplying the interest while a rolling beat propels things along in an understated yet powerful way.

the process of receiving and listening to demos is akin to the proverbial needle in a haystack - poorly labeled cd’s or mp3’s are handed out indiscriminately like flyers for strip clubs in times square (circa 1970). “i really think you are going to like this,” or “all nude girls,” and “dj ‘x’ played this at space,” or “24 hours live sex show…!!” but in the end, just like the harsh reality of a stripper in daylight, the demos fall well short of anything mildly interesting and certainly nothing you would bring home to mom… until madato… from the first group of tracks he sent it was clear that a nice guy from naples had sent us the needle we had been looking for. “naples may not be a place one would consider to be particularly inspiring, from its outside appearance, chaos, and plenty of junk on the streets - it takes a deeper gaze, beyond, and into madato’s dream world. madato is always looking at what’s beyond the waste. inside his dream box you might find laura palmer making out with ian curtis, charles bukowski writing a fairy tale, or perhaps john nash singing along to bauhaus songs…” file under: trippy disco inspired dance music, not defined by a genre but more of an attitude. post-punk undertones mixed with psychedelic sensibility

>daemon< is the third ep from kenton slash demons >the schwarzschild solution< trilogy and features remixes from axel boman<. tartelet records are proud to present this last ep from the momentous trilogy and feel confident that it will bum rush discerning dance floors with its unrelenting, seductive beats and yearning, melancholic bent. as you may already know, the name >the schwarzschild solution< is taken from karl schwarzschilds complex theory about gravitational pull and celestial bodies. this is heavy, elevated subject matter, which goes extremely well with the lofty artistic ambition and nuanced emotional disposition of the trilogy. and as you would expect it from the boys, >daemon< is a grand journey of larger-than-life proportions.

if the eyes would be the mirror of the soul we could easily know others. but that may be not true so this is the aim of giorgio gigli and obtanes >the incredible tale of secret journey through your eyes<: penetrate your eyes and reach your soul and subconsce until we know your truth. psychoanalytic claims this time for zooloft, opening with an upbuilding, dramatic techno anthem, telling us of a true love on the hills. on the other side, geophones master mike parker delivers a pulsating and acidic techno driver where heart impulses are generated by a disturbed soul, creating spasms and panic feelings. the ep get closed by a strongly romantic drone track that tells us love is still the only way-out.

it really is an unbelievable honour for us that we may release this fantastic track by von spar, a track that might as well be found on their outstanding album >foreigner< from 2010. maybe it is because we are such a big label and this crude, elegiac, and emotionally mighty sound of these guys fits just perfect for us. and whoever would like get out of this tunnel of infinite deepness should rely on the remix ada comes up with. trust is good-but no doubt, control is better.

poker flat continues to roar ahead into 2011 with a seriously jam-packed new compilation on cd and vinyl, featuring only brand new and exclusive tracks entitled >forward to the past<. according to label boss steve bug it renders homage to the period between >85 and 92<, traversing the heady sounds of chicago house, acid, new york house and early detroit techno. this exclusive 2 track single, taken from the compilation features steve bug and martin landskys supreme tracks in a celebration that >jack is back<! opening the selection steve bug puts on his jackin shoes in >jack is back< - a classic chicago jack-a-thon in the purest form. tight analog drums and synths work up a storm just like bug would have done back in the days. fellow front disc-jockey martin landsky provides a sumptuous deep house vision with >v2u<. the man is always on form and this doesnt disappoint, fusing old-school drums and basslines with a modern head for the floor

for is 3rd release on musique risquee, after the well acclaimed dirty lipreading single and is first full lenght foe destroyer, stephen beaupre is back with a really solid record. thats all there is to say. gl’amour as the distinctive signature of stephen beaupré, his subtle use of vocals, strings colored with warm echos layered on a big and chunky drum beat. you can easilly acknowledge is natural sens of storytelling unfold in a brillant way. on the flipside, when you have it, would be an excellent way to summarise stephen electrifying live sets: funky, melodic hypnotic and sexy. we are very proud of this last one, hope you enjoy as much as we do.

after having hit the dancefloors with hydra (weave-26) we are proud to unleash another techno monster by spektre. these 2 guys have travelled the globe in the past years performing their live show, to rapturous acclaim. the versatile experiences they made & still make during their international appearances are constantly improving their own productions. spektres big explosive sound has gained massive respect & support and even the biggest of the big like sven väth, dj hell, dubfire, laurent garnier & many more are not sparing with praise. the title track of weave-34 synapse is stacking up an intimidating amount of industry knowledge and skill between them, the latest spektre-monster is storming from strength to strength, taking no prisoners - it can definitely be called a weapon! and as if this wouldnt be tough enough already, weave-34 delivers even more state of the art techno by offering 2 killer remix versions coming straight out of the noisemaking machines from italys young-gun flavio diaz and pig & dan

light sounds dark combine forces with fellow marshmallows psychemagik on a ride to the other side and as one would expect from these two a variable treasure trove of a selection plucked from all corners of the known galaxy and far beyond.

so what is the sound of progressive disco? well it captures the insane rhythm and the unforgiving driving beat that is instantly found in the funk of the early seventies but real disco music also had a formula that would guarantee the hottest djs success if played at the right time. that formula was a blend of up-tempo rhythm sections laden with south american percussion mixed with soulful vocals and orchestral strings - a symphony of sex, lust and love. we change the formula and focus on the rock, electronic and dub elements - slower, sleazy and fun.

to kick-start the fina campaign we literally hunted high and low to find an artist and sound that we felt would represent us and give a statement of intent. what we didnt expect was for this search to take us south of the equator and into to the deep southern hemisphere. this is not the first place that you would expect to hear warm, deep underground house but this is exactly what you get with the melbourne based mic newman. and thinking about it, it doesnt get warmer or deeper than melbourne does it? mic is a young producer who we believe is destined for greatness. at the age of 29, hes already had a string of underground smashes on labels such as murmur, tsuba, dirt crew, freerange, and now for fina records. the intriguingly named live east, die young ep (mic riffing on his time spent living in london) sees what mic doing what he does best and demonstrates why his future is so bright. on die young, the tougher a-side, mic keeps the beats solid, and the groove tight and hypnotic, while the smooth chord stabs get right under your skin. prolonged foot tapping ensues. on the flip side, live east, mic takes it a little deeper with ever so subtle disco touches. the vocal sample asks what your name is and to take off your jacket as if to welcome you to a very messy after hours on this mcde-esque low-slung house groove. on remix duty, the on-form jacques renault and marcos cabral aka runaway, lift the track out of the south hemisphere and take it in a north easterly direction all the way to the caribbean – adding plenty of steel drums and pads on their interpretation of live east

aardvarck comes with >gloom<, an offshoot of his highly successful >bloom< imprint. >gloom< is the second split effort between aardvarck and dutch beatmaster kubus (opgezwolle, top notch). it features aardvarck on an oldschool techno vibe with deep and greasy beats plus his signature style breaks. on the flipside kubus delivers three insanely loud and bass heavy bangers. limited white label!

one would be curious as to what a track such as this one would sound like. images and visuals floating through your head as you press play, the airy, angelic pad intro induces you into a trance-like state before soothing piano lines and a pitched-up vocal reminiscent of the early hardcore era takes you away. as the drums come in with a half-time feel, it is easy to imagine japanese taiko drummers playing their part. once the break takes hold, a short span of melodic heaven uplifts before the drums take control again.

shakarchi & straneus are faik and daniel, two bffs from gothenburg who are making some of the most catchy, emotional and well crafted dance music we have heard in a long time. both had been involved in music for a while when they started working together at their hometowns top tapas joint, manana. in between washing dishes and serving patatas bravas, the boys would burst out short tracks and sound experiments in the makeshift studio they had set up inside mananas cloakroom. this led to a debut 12 inch on malmo based geography recordings and now comes their five track ep >dodskallar och korallrev<: studio barnhus second release, the best swedish house record since jesper dahlbacks >what is the time mr. templar?<, something we are immensely proud of being able to release.

the power of lauer is indisputable. blessed with the uncanny ability to make hooks that would make bone thugs-n-harmony jealous in their heyday, phillip lauer is – pardon us – the melody man. his newest tour de force comes in two parts for our beloved live at robert johnson label. similar sounding to the legendary harmonizer (as if you would care), h.r. boss is new- romantic -italo -not -italowave that puts love on top of love (i.e. the aforementioned melodies). wouldnt sound out of place in sophie marceaus notorious la boum walkman. forbidden fruit is the sweetest. a little less full-bodied, yet as disarming, banned goes straight ahead with its ripply bass line, wheezing strings, a killer arrangement that completely deserves the tracks name plus a groove that wont stop. feels like delta nrgs filthy little brother. delectable! put on your red shoes

the seventh release on dva records comes from a young, unknown resident of manchester named gugu. staying true to the dva style, his two tracks are fine examples of todays hybrid funky house scene, maintaing the 4 to the floor drum patterns whilst drawing on a wide range influencesà and as it suggests in the epÆs title, is packed full of cuban flava. straight up music designed to make people dance. it wouldnÆt be right to get a dva release without a feature from the man himself, rinse fmÆs grimey breakfast show host mr scratcha dva. as a slight deviation from the norm û and in a way a return to the styles his earlier production û dva lays down a heavyweight slice of synth laden half step, defiantely one to pull your dirty face too. check it out and get back to us with your thoughts.

bjorn torske is a special artist with a special name. he was born in northern norway where fishing has been the main industry for hundreds of years and his name literally translates as >bear cod<. even making dinner is unique in norway: you put the potatoes on to boil, go out to sea and catch a fish, then return to prepare the meal…this process is known as >kokning<. to say that northern norwegians do things their own way would be putting it lightly … to say that bjorn torske is making music his own way would be exactly right.

created back in 1994 by secret cinema, no one could have predicted how timeless this track would turn out to be! if you are in to electronic music and live on this planet, theres a 75 percent chance youll recognise the weird reversed, reverbed piano riff! now, for the first time, the original is available digitally with remixes by slam, egbert and secret cinema himself that made their way to vinyl as well. the massive techno tune from 94 is ready for a little update! it can be a challenge to remix a track with so much history, but all three managed to complement the original while giving a unique spin to the track. the secret cinema 2011 remix is a peak time main room power tool that will turn a big crowd into a riot any day. slam take a deeper, more subtle approach that can hypnotize and rock a main room crowd without blowing their wigs off. finally egbert takes the track to a warmer funkier level, equipped with a funk-filled bass line and some warm pads over the top. a truly timeless package!!

memoryman - aint no big edit: great percussive elements bring this track to life! short stabs of echoey synth carefully placed throughout add to the atmosphere, the track builds and builds. there is a strong house/techno feel but the slow tempo ensures it grooves, a big track! and lovely vocals with the deep bass work really well!
side b: ltj - all night: hypnotic loop carries the track, slow bass grooves and the vocal is perfect! a dancefloor gem! would be a great secret for any djs bag!

>mr nice< features snippets of howard marks which are interlaced with clattering breakbeats and booming sub bass. while we are sure howard would approve of a late night after party session, for many this will be the soundtrack to what happens before they leave the club! label boss steppa and his co-producer kitcha provide an excellent aa side which harks back to the classic formation records era. splicing in cheeky samples lifted from anthems of old and twisting them into something brand new, this one is just as fearsome on the dancefloor.

including pier bucci remix! our seventh vinyl release features the long awaited debut ep of berlin based project house in a livingroom. clicking beats, lots of groove and mesmerizing vocals are the key ingredients for >jacked beat<, a reduced, funk loaded, jackin house track. house in a livingroom is formed by producer leo cubanero who has already delivered stunning releases on labels like textone and festplatten and vocalist rebecca metternich who adds her clear emotional voice to the ensemble. the flipside features a remix by chilean producer pier bucci who reduces the vocals and enhances the mix with fat analog drums as well as the track >push me< which actually would have been worth a release of its own.
