LONG WAY HOME (ANDRE LODEMANN & FABIAN DIKOF, FRED, IAN POOLEY, LAUER AKAI MIXES)
12" Vinyl UK20.11.18
taken from his critically acclaimed new lp long way home, lazy days s main man invites three a-list producers to revisit some of the highlights from the album. andre lodemann & fabian dikof give by day feat. sio a techier and deeper mood. perfect for those late hours of the night. ian pooley brings his classic sound to silverlight featuring jinadu while lauer explores the balearic side of wherever you go. there s also an additional reversion of by day by fred, taking the track in completely different world than his broken beat original.
lauer always rhymes with power. proven by countless remixes, productions and projects like arto mwambe, black spuma, talamanca system or tuff city kids and his own-brand. there arent many dance floors left that havent been blessed by all this glory. now, the aptly titled third album of frankfurts prime export regarding all things melodic, teenaged and synthesized, intensifies, condenses and hones the sound, he has been developing for years: a topical take on classic dance and 80ies pop figures, disco music in a closet (lauer is still in denial), singing arpeggios, android choirs, beautiful bass lines and sometimes the apparitional architecture of house music.
VIZITOZ (FEAT. LAUER & LIZARD REMIXES)(140 G VINYL)
12" Vinyl UK02.02.18
new to the naar stable, in:state & giuli make their debut in stunning style.visitoz is a straight forward techno affair, as bumping as it is surprising. using a deceptively simple gated arp and horn to dazzlingly complex effect. the track is potentially the most peak time naar has gone yet, and it s an incredibly welcome addition to their canon. on remix duty lauer takes a hold of the main arpeggio and turns it monstrous in the style of liasions dangeruese, yet balances this with his trademark lightness of touch and his ear for a heart wrenching synth line, creating an instant classic that feels like it was beamed straight in from 1986. -plus 1- has been sent from a parallel dimension where the evolution of music took a turn so different that proto garage stands where proto house should be. the track has the step and swagger of the most compelling end of the 2 step movement, but balances that with the surprising naivete and earnestness found in italo, ebm and early forays from chicago. finishing things off, lizards return to the label for a welcome encore following last years success with their 1st release, tanni.

cin cin, the label from fort romeau and ali tillett present their first release of 2018 and the 10th in the catalogue so far. lauer starts the year off on the right foot with two prime time slices of that signature lauer power™? sound he’s known for from his releases on running back, permanent vacation and as one half of tuff city kids with gerd janson. on the flip the golden filter follow up an excellent long player on optimo music with 2 deep technoid excursions. “blackspray” pairs whispered vocals with warehouse shaking kicks while “aya” injects a little slinkiness into the proceedings. sure to be enjoyed by discerning disk jockeys of all stripes the world over!
following on from 2016’s excellent “birsk” single on futureboogie, philipp lauer returns to the label with a new three track single. the “las brisas” ep kick starts with the mechanical funk of “pile”, acidic notes drip over heavy ebm drums whilst a hovering ‘resse’ style bassline dominates, the influence of early house and industrial dance are ever present here on this belter of a track from the tuff city kids and talamanca system player.
more acid pressure can be found on “clipper”, a blazing and dynamic slice of anthemic balearic dance. searing pads and lustrous melodies pour over the robust drum machine workout, that’ll have dancers reaching for the skies! real stirring stuff from lauer, which continues with closing track “tyco”. ricocheting stabs and cowbell hits bounce off a sturdy kick drum as the track flourishes with more on-point melodies and a snaking bass. dripping with emotive refrains, lauer brings his very best to the table here, and rounds off an ep that’s most definitely all killer and no filler!
brazilian label gop tun hits its fourth release with the sublime tones of tyv, building on the adventurous twist on disco and house music that has typified the label to date. lead track -miau!- is a show stopper that rides on a sumptuous arpeggio and lashings of latin percussion, infected with a sunny disposition but also reaching into a more mysterious corner of the dancefloor. lauer steps up to remix the original into a more overtly cheery version loaded with his trademark warm basslines and pads, but then tyv takes control once more for simmering b-side jam -da terra-. pitched at a more reflective time in the party, this brooding jam celebrates brazilian music culture in a wonderfully modern context.
bicep continue to welcome new artists into the fold as they expand their feel my bicep imprint with a 12inch from fresh signees tim sweeney and lauer operating under t&p. number 10 in their release catalogue comes as a single titled hail falls which includes remixes from dark sky and fellow irishman hammer.
,,having introduced their collaboration through a self released record on sweeneys own beats in space back in 2016 - t&p continue to develop this fruitful relationship and roll out more disco-tinged acid in a manner that suits them perfectly to a release on feel my bicep.
,,monkeytown and black acre affiliates dark sky then expand on their illustrious catalogue not only with their forthcoming lp for monkeytown but with a remix here that sees the original’s rich melodies spread over intricate, skipping rhythms. then hammer weighs in with his own bold, punchy take. galvanised drums and a sharpened melodies lift the original into more tense territory as another strong addition to the imprint is capped off
benjamin fröhlichs 2016 ep rude movements gets the remix treatment by some of his favourite artists: permanent vacation long time collaborator and partner in crime lauer tugs amos in with a very cosy frankfurt trance blanket, while running back regular shan pulls out the curls of holloway thanks to his magic styling iron. the result: a pumping and string heavy affair. on the flipside brusselss wunderkind cleveland delivers an energizing and mesmerizing breakbeat version of ghost orchid for the magic moments in life. while siss finest jack pattern come correct with a cosmic disco reinterpretaion of spitting image
especial starts it s 3rd set of releases welcoming frankfurt s hotel lauer for an ep of unadulterated uplifting club music. a meeting at the garden festival finale in idyllic croatia last summer along the lines of i love your records / i love your label came to the instant conclusion to bring team lauer to especial.
been to long - the well remebered chorus of a successfull parisian duos single hit comes easily to mind while thinking of the latest internasjonal release. after a long hiatus - which feels like surely way long - we restart with one half of the formerly well known milanese pair - boogie drama - and it s very own lele sacchi. deejaying since 1995 sacchi has been and is still one of italys and especially milans musical icons - at least for electronic and alternative worlds, presents himself in his signature style. high on the heals of the success with rebirths smash lele sacchi vs blonde redhead - youre only kosmiquest is dark and cryptic, with a mean but very neat and elegant bassline plus an unmatched groove and feel for the floor. this time well balanced with a tad into psycheledic strinig heaven, wich combined with electronic effects is his ultimate kosmische quest. the whole thing is contered by an airy and superbright no less danceable lauer version and a fantatsic relaxed italo take on kraut which can propably be non done much better than byprins thomas walking on that lunga strada!
THE CORRESPONDANT GOMMA JOINTS (LAUER, SECRET CIRCUIT RMXS)
12" Vinyl D04.04.16
this vinyl ep is a collaboration between paris label correspondant and germanys gomma records. remixes by los angeles finest psychedelic electronic producer secret circuit (beats in space records) and german shooting star lauer (partner of gerd janson at tuff city kids). why this ep? gomma has a long history with the paris scene. mathias munk modica who runs gomma (and sublabel toy tonics) has been living in france for many years. he worked with many parisian artists from dj chloe (on munks first album aperitivo 2004) to the ed banger crew or black strobe. probably apart of berlin there is no city in the world that saw more gomma events than paris. seems only a project with jennifer cardini missed. so jennifer invited mathias last year to send over tracks. decision was made fast. and so wurlitzer wank and the bösus bounce have come up on correspondant.
johannes albert is running a record label since 5 fun years and 20 releases. releasing his own music on vinyl but also his mates stuff. from achterbahn damour to smallpeople via jeremiah, from fred p and lauer remixes back to french youngsters ralph & larry houl. so frank will celebrate this anniversary among life & happiness early 2016 with two twelche inches and a lousy tour. starting with the lamest of all johannes himself to be followed by a bulky rework by oskar offermann. flipside ticks in with heartbreaker phillip lauer and his bottomless love for all things lohret. markus mutzenbacher hailing from würzburg in southern germany a djs dj manages to drop his first track ever. after only 15 years of being a dj. this guy is an inspiration.
futureboogie spring straight into action in the new year with a killer single from the much loved german producer, lauer. as one half of tuff city kids (with gerd janson), as well as flying solo with two albums on permanent vacation, phillip lauer has been producing since the turn of the millennium. a cohesive and highly active output of music has come on labels like running back, beats in space and brontosaurus amongst many others.
fresh from the success of *say you wont ever*, wallflower return with their second single *manifest*, an ode to honouring what naturally unfolds through surrendering to the process, not to be confused with having manifest intent of a desired outcome consistently held in the minds eye.
bucharests own khidja have been an active part in the local nightclub scene over the past years. after first appearing as co-compilers of the romanian jazz lp for sonar kollektiv, it was finally a remix for baris k on emotional especial in late 2013 which put the duo on the want list of many tasteful djs around the world. the time was just perfect to appear with oriental soundscapes having been the most sought-after spice in dance music during that summer period
lauer returns from mascats orbit to new york citys beats in space records with a new two-tracker, hands & feet / stigma. since 2012s mascat ring down, lauer ditched city life for a quiet village outside of frankfurt. lauer embraced the space for his young family and settled his creative headquarters in a quaint attic studio. the new environments and housemate, a slumbering infant son, inspired these two songs to breathe a delicate and patient air. recorded during the first summer of his new domesticity, both tracks swell with echoed piano riffs buoyed by lauers dependably precise programming.
the vinyl ep includes a download code.
WE CAN HAVE IT ALL / GOLDNUGGET (LAUER TRANS ACID RMX)
12" Vinyl D02.05.14
right after the tremdendous irritation caused by pommes 001 has reached its peak, here comes pommes002! this time reviving the worst or the best 90ies club music had to offer. the a-side belongs to daniel nentwig aka one half of the working elite, one third of the now defunct extraproduktionen and whitest boy alives keyboard-wizard. hes wearing his brandnew d lonely al sweater and presents we can have it all, a well hung slice of sparkeling proto house that could have fit very well on a kissfm mastermix by tony humphries!
n a rainy late september day in the mid eighties, 7 year old phillip lauer didnt know what to expect from that little new born g, who was referred to as his brother jacob. on the other hand, baby jacob wasn t very sure of what to make of this - back then still sporty - youngster either, who behaved like his boss. to make a short story long it took them almost 30 years to finally find out - behind the helm of the infamous pyramide 2 studio when conducting this fine piece of home made dance music: the brudis ep
still riding high on the success of their second artist album, another, crimea x offer up two more singles from it in the form of a present and haunted love. ensuring the package is even more essential are remixes from lauer and non-stop dutchman legowelt, and of course its worth mentioning again that the originals were both co-produced and mixed by norwegian legend bjorn torske
with ynks 10inch single polytone adds another musical facet to the labels eclectic approach. having shown his musical open-mindedness with releases on tenderpark and maria colors, ynk further underlines his reputation as a highly versatile electronic producer with the joint: over a tricky midtempo funk beat ynk assembles various 70s soul samples, thus creating a warm athmosphere which is modern and aware of tradition at the same time. on the flip side lauer takes the original and turns it into a straight and sunny house track full of classic vibes with feelings of euphoria and memories from back in the day rushing through our bodies
the lucky seventh release on beats in space records rolls on the back of an ecstatic track from dennis dj mcnany - aka jee day. a fixture in the nyc dance community as label boss of run roc records, a touring member of the juan maclean and an accomplished producer in his own right (see the like a child and auro go 12s for dfa), mcnany knows what music makes a crowd lose its collective mind.
the wind up of phillip lauers album debut phillips (still available in all formats including gatefold double vinyl) is in the hands of nyc remix/production outfit runaway and versatiles very own i:cube. runaway do their best to turn tentatious into one of those early morning deep house dubs that you could find on the b-side on vintage designer labels of their hometown. music for baby powdered wooden floors. i:cube does the opposite and manufactures a bumper car boogie beat that also works as a uk rave dub. he likes to move it. on the flip, lauer himself turns in the hidden album track boringtone - his very own secret ode to the café del mar - and the super exclusive smashing pumpkin that is highdimes 100percent overground melodies
phillips is the magnificent debut album by phillip lauer on running back. frankfurts melody man has amassed a body of work that includes the adventures of arto mwambe, top singles (delta nrg) on his extinct brontosaurus label for permanent vacation or live at robert johnson as well as remixes for the likes of maxmillion dunbar or with the tuff city kids project. the twelve songs that make phillips have been described as 808 state kissing movin records while cluster are in the room –, or a dolby nr tempest. whatever you want to call it, it has all the ingredients and romantic notions that can make dance music oscillate between the sacred and the profane: house, gloomy gothic grooves, cock-eyed electro, new wave trance and lots of songs without words. the power of lauer. available on cd, nine track gatefold lp and digitally. escorted by two tensnake remixes of trainmann on rb032 and more to come…,.
none other than tensnake is the host of phillip lauers album debuts (aptly titled phillips and soon available in all formats including gatefold double vinyl) inauguration party. delivering not one but two remixes and a barrel of laughs, hamburgs happy man smears thick red lipstick on lauers bittersweet trainmann symphony. his franceman mix does exactly what it says on the tin. a long intro gets rouled up into a fierce dancing school contest. speaking of nomen that are omen, youll find the tranceman mix on the flip side going the whole nine yards: marimba magic, hard trance breaks, deked drum rolls and early morning glory moments. its impossible to defang that snake.
this is what we call house music soneec lauer & canard the producer trio from poland are on fire and with the fantastic voice of virag this release is a must for all the house heads 3 mixes to choose from deeper vibes to slammin uptempo disco grooves. what else!
the power of lauer is indisputable. blessed with the uncanny ability to make hooks that would make bone thugs-n-harmony jealous in their heyday, phillip lauer is – pardon us – the melody man. his newest tour de force comes in two parts for our beloved live at robert johnson label. similar sounding to the legendary harmonizer (as if you would care), h.r. boss is new- romantic -italo -not -italowave that puts love on top of love (i.e. the aforementioned melodies). wouldnt sound out of place in sophie marceaus notorious la boum walkman. forbidden fruit is the sweetest. a little less full-bodied, yet as disarming, banned goes straight ahead with its ripply bass line, wheezing strings, a killer arrangement that completely deserves the tracks name plus a groove that wont stop. feels like delta nrgs filthy little brother. delectable! put on your red shoes
supported by: the love supreme (tirk), simone fedi (dc recordings), club silencio (red music), fratelli riviera (bear funk), the heels of love (under the shade/jisco), nic sarno (southern fried, esp), jose manuel (eskimo), paola testa (ibiza global radio), tim sweeney (beats in space)
because of the keen idea to have at least 3 good releases within the first 10 records, it was clear that nobody else but phillip lauer would be able to sort this out on brontosaurus 10. so after #1 & #5 here is # 10 from the man. set your clock! its kinda metric. with 10 releases on his back the brontosaurus is no greenhorn anymore. we found out a few things: 1) we will never know if good music does not sell. >2) printing your own covers is an honourable thing to do but it is a lot of work! > 3) its still fun in the end so lets stick around for the next 10 releases and check this commanding 3 tracker.
first 500 copies in handprinted sleeves! …>its a long way to tipperary< and brontosaurus is already reaching reference number 5 after its first most successful year of blood, sweat, tears and parmesello. the records have so far been hammered by such diverse djs as prins thomas, steve bug, richard sen, ata, laurent garnier, radioslave, dj t., steve kotey baby g or cassy, but have not yet turned the artists arto mwambe, the exile missile, extraproduktionen and lauer into rich people. the next attempt >brontosaurus 5< contains two tracks of the label boss phillip lauer, known for his serious house & disco (even italo) flavoured proto-work-outs (recently he did some brontosaurus remixes for the labels boogie farm and rekids). as always there will be 500 beautifully hand-crafted covers. brontosaurus got game
