fantastic limited reissue of this amazing self-titled afro-funk lp from ghanaian singing and percussion star sidiku buari. originally released in 1975, this super-rare album features an all-star cast of top funk instrumentalists playing alongside buari and boy does it show! blending heavy african rhythms with funky disco grooves, the arrangements and the playing are incredibly tight and the album is chock-full of killer tracks including advice from father (sampled by everyone from kenny dope to groove armada) and ku ka maria with its intense funky breaks and awesome drumming from legend bernard ‘pretty’ purdie, which made these tracks huge on the b-boy/breaking scene also. other stand-out tracks include the wonderful disco-tinged afro monsters karam bani and iro le pa plus the cool laidback groove of them yebtheget. top class!

taragana pyjarama is 21 year old nick eriksen from denmark, >taragana pyjarama< is his debut release on french house label fool house, following the self imposed death of previous project elm ick, which went onto release on john talabots hivern label (barcelona). the release features three original tracks, ‘,sundanese blonde’,, ‘,ocean’, and ‘,girls’, the breakout track that had the mp3 blog dance community in raptures at the tail of of summer ‘,10. eriksen may feel at home creating deep new house productions but it’,s natural attraction towards the journey in his productions that resonate most, no less so in ‘,sundanese blonde’, perhaps the stand out track on the ep and the sole track to feature a vocal. ricardo tobar provides a pulsating take on ‘,girls’,. as for the definition of taragana pyjarama? we’,re still not sure.

alex kork, founder of 9volt presents 4 great minimal-techno tracks on plattenbau-music. alex also released on relax. he did his first steps producing electronic music already in his youth. experiments with self-made oscillators, noise generators, synthesizers and sequencers he was always in searching for new sounds. as techno found the way in his hometown in the early 90s he was flashed by the new sound. as hydro he played on a lot of events and also he organised own parties. since founding the cannibal cooking club together with error in 1999 they play as liveact in the clubs. the own label for their crazy and unique sound was born in 2003. his label 9volt-musik was founded in 2006. focussed on the sound he likes, its a platform for his own productions and friends.

repress !! blackest ever black is a new london-based label that seeks to re-establish electronic music as a poetic, provocative and emotionally inquisitive force. music by artists, not engineers. its first release is a self-titled ep by raime, a british duo who draw explicit inspiration from the marginal mavericks of early european goth, industrial and synth wave - artists largely omitted from the current master narrative of post-punk history, and who strove to make music at once cerebral and visceral, futuristic and atavistic. well-versed in the language of club music, but rejecting its typically rigid sequencing and arrangements, raime use technology pensively - to convey a sense of crisis, collapse and longing. transporting and disorienting though their work might be, its narratively taut and has no truck whatsoever with the cosmic, its too aggressive and engaged to be called psychedelic.

twisted tongue follow up their acclaimed debut album with the first single from their follow-up lp, >a return to space<. eschewing the p-funk stylings of their self-titled debut, twisted tongue (dave jay & mark dalton) provide an essential revival of the mid-tempo soul stepper, featuring guest vocalist johanna lee sweetly leading a tough, incessant groove that recalls the classic likes of nick martinelli and the mizell brothers. twisting the track even further are the remixes provided by dj ray mang (dfa, mangled), one of the founders of londons nu-disco scene, who has long taken inspiration from new yorks golden era of the loft and paradise garage. twisted tongue writer/producer dave jay joined forces with ray for his >mang vs. mondo< ep on mangled earlier this year, and here mang returns the favour by dubbing out and extending >a return to space< to mind-bending effect. on the flipside is the cinematic, downtempo remix by blue states, which subtly subverts the original, transforming the track into a late night indie excursion. andy dragazis (blue states) has now been delivering his unique brand of melancholy, guitar-led head music for over decade, via labels such as xl recordings, and this mix of >a return to space< ranks up there with his most memorable work

radius continues its superradio series with one of the deeper but bigger tracks from the superradio catalogue. every self respecting disco dj has hammered this gem for years. catch by sun la shan. the best way to describe this track is to picture yourself visage and moroder working out together in a gym staring at a blondie poster. catch is most definitely a seminal piece of work combining disco and new wave in a sexy and sleazy molotov cocktail. the ep comes with a stripped down dub version and a disco devil remix. also hailing from gent, belgium, where radius is based, disco devil stayed quite close to the original vibe with minimal synth efficiency and equally sleazy vocals. catch is sexy!

lol is a bit of an unusual project, its just a thing in its own right, its not for anything or anyone in particular, its just an lp made by three bored people who like music that sounds like it did before the advent of the internet. the project was recorded in the bedroom of a warehouse conversion in hackney wick (bedrooms can be incredibly creative spaces, seeing as most of us were conceived in one). they wrote about self-obsession, social anxiety, drug abuse, and failed relationships using pre-21st century recording devices such as vhs tape, 70s valve microphones, analogue synths, cheap argos catalogue guitars, and 80s drum machines.

sea power & change is a pseudonym for seminal portuguese producer tiago, a multi-talented musician and dj with his attention split between many musical endeavors, this self-titled ep marking his departure into yet another territory. these are four melancholic songs, each independent in mood yet collectively bringing to life a beautifully vague array of contradictions. with sea power & change, tiago taps into our perverted subconscious, developing a cinematic approach by coupling tragic pianos with slow-motion basslines, slinky guitars against industrial drums and grandiose synthesizers over tropical percussion, all bathed in pornographic overtones

>les patates<, the fresh new rrygular release by tassilo, one half of pan-pot, is not an homage to french agriculture but a serious techno smasher with high club potential. at first, theres just a nice party atmosphere and … then this rough beat drops in! the small potatoe >petite patate< surprises by adding rudimental elements like the hihat and snare drum always a little late. but you have the feeling you havent missed something yet. this number just sneaks from behind and lulls you in with billowing pads until you sense the final rave sound as a self-evident consequence of it all. the message by g-tech right before the drop proves right - there is not a lack of vibration here! its all about the mixture … and in this case its just felicitous: male choir, clanking cymbals and finally the riff that this track subsists on. tassilo knows how to send the short melody-figure through the different stages of sound design, even though it might have been lively enough without it. this gives the big potatoe >grosse patate< a level of dynamic, that most contemporary techno releases just dont provide.

repress - folk-jazz composer/arranger arthur verocai was born in rio de janeiro. he has created challenging arrangements and compositions for brazilian artists jorge ben, ivan lins, leny andrade and gal costa. in 1972 verocai recorded a self-titled solo lp. it is a stunningly innovative effort. it puts verocai into a rarified field with the heavy string oriented music of charles stepney, david axelrod and frank zappa. released in a period marked by the brazilian military government, the album fared poorly. following its re-issue in 2003 the album has become a highly influential oft sampled classic (see ludacris, mf doom and little brother). the performance of this seminal 1972 record in its entirety brought the capacity luckmann crowd to a stand still. according to verocai, >he had never played the record, alive or dead!< the music has been mixed by verocai himself in rio. history turned on its head and musical justice served.

we present a new artist on echocord colour. we are presenting one of the currently most interesting berlin modern techno music producers today mike dehnert. he is founder of the label fachwerk records on which he is publishing under his own name. his live acts and dj sets are as remarkable as his productions and you wont ever hear him playing any self-pleasing or incidental grooves. mostly mike is playing his own unpublished tracks. he did just put his ability to the test within collabarations with clone rec and the clone basement series. on the super limited md2 series mike dehnert is presenting again his variety in music. for echocord colour he did 3 striped killer berlin flavoured techno-dub/house tracks, for all dancefloors out there.
