the sixth release on the excellent parisian imprint my love is underground comes from inner sense - aka french producer henri fontaine - who serves up only his second ever solo release (his first was back in 2006!) sprawled across the a-side you will find >lowdown<, a jam that brings to mind the output of new york house dons masters at work (indeed look closely at the centre of this record and you will see the totally appropriate inscribing >1993 forever<). swirling chords combine with a thumping kick, stuttering keys and, of course, a killer vocal wail for a slice of what can only be described as proper house music. >wanna dub with u< opens proceedings on the flip with the kind of thumping bass drum and funk-infused skipping hats that would make it a snug fit in the kerri chandler back catalogue and, again, the vocals are absolutely gorgeous. finally, >rawllin< wraps up the ep on a more stripped back yet equally groovy tip. limited to 500 copies on rather fetching 180g orange vinyl - essential.

how do you follow-up last years monster mr.spock? of course with something even more ghetto, more dirty and more fun. lezgo is the 2nd collaboration between justin martin and ardalan, a curious bay area duo of master and apprentice that seems to be magic in the studio. this time they delve deep into the footwork meets house sound delivering cool r&b respites inside mega booty grooves for 3 minutes then letting down the hammer on the kick drum in the finale that kills every time. this is the type of tune that gets everyone moving and smiling and makes you wish you had 10 of them just like it in your bag. i ve played this to every type of crowd from techno chin scratchers to college kids, festival crowds, london know-it-alls, fund raising 40+ year olds, deep house heads, post dubsteppers, basement afterpartiers, hip-hop crews, disco kids and straight up ravers. it works everywhere and thats the sign of a big tune.

raf pisani and marco conte, aka audiomatiques, have long been involved in techno but its since they began working together as audiomatiques that everything began to click. together with roberto capuano, an artist who has already released for loose, claque musique, monique musique and suara, the duo have delivered 3 sterling tracks, which are backed by a remix from rino cerrone, for loose. cerrone takes full advantage of his position as label boss and places his remix of >so bad< in pole. its a walloping but low slung affair riddled with hypnotic rises and false drops which build incredible tension. in original form, >so bad< is a pounding affair. the focus is centred around an unholy bass heavy kick with just the minimum of percussive flourishes and vocal effects doing the rest with aplomb. >mind trip<, while equally as heavy, is fluid and slick. swinging tribal vibes and some clever effects work paired with an airtight arrangement makes for a surefire club burner. finally, the bizarre yet compelling leads of the aptly titled >crazy synth< close proceedings with a fever-dream fervour. original and memorable, this is a genuinely anthemic cut.

rainbow arabia have been one kompakts most endearing acts to work with us in years. the husband and wife duo danny and tiffany preston started our year out with the genre-defying full length >boys and diamonds< which went on to become one our most acclaimed releases of recent time - the los angeles times went so far as to proclaim >rainbow arabia are l.a.s new electro heroes< in a recent feature. in honor of the exhaustive touring throughout the us and europe the band continues to trail blaze, we found the need to put out another limited edition 7 inch for the fans and collectors out there. the title song >boys and diamonds< combines the sway of >80s pop< with the raw power of cumbia and ethno-dance mayhem. tiffanys vocals are hauntingly powerful and a testament to the sheer will and work this band has put in over the past year. hardmix are a favorite of the band and we here at kompakt were honored have him tackle the song. what we received is melodic techno bliss - a shapeshifting extravagance that uniquely keeps the essence of the original but with a solid bass kick to keep the dance floor well on momentum

diner city sounds fifth release, back to the start with matthew kyle who helped kick off the label with dcs001. four of his personal favourite tracks make up the 12, a brilliant release! a1: do it charlie - mk at his best! slow, grooving edit, super sexy vocals and really beautiful percussion. words cant describe the greatness! huge sound cloud hit as well. a2: midnight- hypnotic track, just beautiful! synths are incredible, cool little vocal and light percussion. b1: i want myself for you- fun track, one to make your booty bounce! nice use of a well known sample, brilliant vocals. all round heavy groover! b2: inside - love things slow right down on the final track. a lovely, atmospheric track with a great beat - showing off matthew kyles baby-making music talent! top class

london based label ism serves up a massive ep with three tracks from russian disco producer volta cab, all of which offer some seriously downtempo grooves. >play on< and >magic in your eyes< nail the classic sub 110bpm disco sound with its lush live instrumentation. however its the shining 80s feel of >hes a bad mutha< that is the most impressive, melding a sleazy vocal with a heart-rending combination of synths and horns. label bosses yam who? offer two remixes, with their version of >play on< a cosmic uptempo version of the original, with an ascending synth bass that elevates the original vocal to new heights. their remix of >hes a bad mutha< adds a similar amount of extra dancefloor kick, removing the originals yearning melody for something a little more forceful.

hamiltons debut single on ram records is simply massive. having already released two huge 12 inches on frequency and the immense >soundboy<, a track released as part of andy cs nightlife 5, it comes as no surprise that brainstorm and echoes have already conquered dance floors worldwide and is a firm favourite in the sets of andy c, chase & status, hype, bailey, sub focus and fresh to name but a few. brainstorm leads in gently with rolling percussion, building up the suspense until the winding bass and scattered drum beats kick in to create a smasher that all will want hear again and again.

having impressed with his stripped back, percussive remix of alan fitzpatricks gridlock track, drumcode are delighted to be giving gary beck his full debut on the label with his askaig ep. askaig illustrates becks understanding of the drumcode aesthetic as he contrasts the brutal force of a slamming kick, huge throbbing bass and crunchy pads with the delicate, ever-so-trippy plucked string hook via an arrangement that enhances and the raw power of the individual elements. on the flip side, mock tease completes the package with an end-of-night bridging track that combines the shimmering euphoric qualities of pulsing harmonics with splashes of sound effects and a marching, percussive rhythm that extenuates the epic feel of the track

shir khan presents his favourite edits in the form of a new sublabel of exploited entitled: black jukebox. the first edition features a great mix of deep house, disco, soul and hip hop. contributions by amsterdams homework and hamburgs adana twins. 4 infectiously catchy tracks that can be either explained as >true revision< or >the stick a kick drum on it!< philopsophy. already loved by the round table knights, soul clap, dj sneak, jesse rose, catzndogs, wareika, dj t, jazzanova, christian prommer&michael reinboth, nd baumecker and many more. homework and the adana twins took 4 classic tracks and turned them into something that is so lush that maybe even larry levan might have played it out. 90s sentiments were rearranged to be retrofitted in this era: pure revisionist nostalgia.

a true master of the deeper arts, phonique has, since his first steps into the world of production back in the early 2000s, become synonymous with and eulogised for his beautifully cultured productions. labels such as simple, buzzin fly, souvenir and of course systematic have all played host to his music, but it s his work for steve bugs dessous imprint for which he is most renowned. first up is phoniques solo production, >2 my jungle< which sees him step into jacking tech-house territory. lovely open hi-hats are paired with the punch of the kick drum. a trumpet riff enters the fray, backed by the grooving throb of the bassline. its vocal samples are twisted and filtered throughout as phonique creates a wonderfully trippy summer anthem. on the flip he teams up with desolat badboy, guti. still riding high on the wave of support for his fantastic debut album >patio de juegos<, the argentinian producer phonique show just how much fun they can have in their electronic playground. beautifully deep and with a lush rhodes melody, >divertimento< entices us with its sultry summer vibes. a polar opposite, yet complete match to the a-side

morning caffeine is the debut release by poker flats martin landsky on mobilee that we have all been waiting for! as a poker flat artist with huge success to his name for various remixes, he boasts a discography that reads like a guide through electronic musics hottest sounds. always refusing to be pigeonhold, landsky continuously embraces different paths and once again hes brought something new to the table. title track morning caffeine (main mix) kick starts the ep with both a dark and uplifting mood as a slightly twisted loop continues to build throughout the track, never really culminating but carrying on inescapably, whilst in contrast the organ dub version offers a much lighter and bouncier atmosphere. aint nobodys is the pleasant surprise of the ep, once again demonstrating landkys musical diversity and serving up really special warm dreamy vibes

the production duo of dual process, aka dj java and dj ben j, have been in the drum & bass scene since before it was being called the drum & bass scene. initially as ravers, then djs, and now as producers, they have been witness to the progression of the various sub genres that are now present in todays spectrum of drum & bass music. after releases individually and collectively on several different labels dual process are ready to launch their own label aimed at the particular sub genre that they have successfully played in raves, clubs and on radio for the last few years. straight up, dance floor, jump up is whats going to be on offer from audio hostage records, and to kick things off we have two heavy slices of face churning, bass ridden, ignorance capable of setting mcs to self destruct and levelling any sound system. both tracks are getting heavy support from a range of djs and radio stations such as, hype, crissy criss, taxman, nicky black market, brockie, ss, jack frost, ash attack, hoodlum, logan d, profile, pappa g, vital elements, spice, origin fm and kool fm.

onwards and upwards for the section8 clan as they get ready to deliver possibly their biggest release to date with a mighty, thunderous dubstep assault from one of bristols brightest up & coming production duos, dodge & fuski. having built up quite a reputation already with some killer releases on labels such as never say die and rat, this one looks set to earn them even more attention, get ready for the sound system bangers! ethereal pads open up aerophobia before an epic, grandiose synth enters the mix to set the scene for whats to come and youd better be ready because its quite simply, sick! watch the dance go crazy as we kick into an absolutley heinous bass riff that grabs by the throat and doesnt let go with a smashing break holding it all together. it only goes on to get even better with a totally funked up 4/4 switch up too! more bassline manipulation ensues and the dubstep break returns to complete whats sure to be a massive club anthem. a lot of fun. onto the flip and the tranced-out intro vibe continues with another awe-inpsiring arrangement of twinkling synths and fx on fuckem all. though the ravers are gonna love it and thats really what this is all about. bangin!

the ep opens with >hypnotic bass<, a track with a very groovy gnaoua rythm. the sound of the guembri gives the production a very warm sensation. next up is >deep medina<, the title track. a real journey, the vocals are strong while sidi mohammeds lute elicits shivers. the melody manages to sound traditional while modern at the same time. >for hou!!!<, the closing track, philip bader perfectly works the acoustic samples, resulting in a characteristically berlin minimal sound. the kick and the bass are very heavy.

and here it is: the second vinyl ep of niko schwinds album >good morning midnight<. it features some of the unique tracks that niko has created together with some of berlins hottest production talents. on the a side are two tracks that feature the clicky tech-house boys that are channel x, where things kick off with >back from the bar<. it sounds as the title suggests: a little wobbly, a little drunk, a little crazy, but also pretty magic. quite clearly this is an homage to one of berlins not-to-be-forgotten clubs that is unfortunately history now. but things continue on here at least with >dont turn the lights on<, a more straightforward dancefloor track, with a trumpet as the main protagonist. this is one of those tracks that keeps leading up to a real arms-in-the-air-moment if it wasn’t so damn housy at the same time. on the flip the magical connection between niko and label daddy oliver koletzki can be heard on >master of ceremony<, a chopped-up house track with epic dimensions. when things get to the piano breakdown, they get very musical and colossal before dropping back into a great house track. the stark contrast between the piano melody and the groove on this really make it. last but not least then, the original album opener >good morning< that features the singing of fran. it works great as a great album opener, but also perfectly as a slower and more thoughtful addition to a great ep

man-of-the-moment tiagos new project i-boat captain arrives on is it balearic..? recordings! >slower< is a beautifully smooth & laid back synth journey with added guitar melodies weaving a web of eastern influence while dipping its toes into subtly psychedelic waters. this is sunshine grooving at its best. the backwoods (dj kent) turn in a truly mesmerising remix. hypnotic and dreamy but with added 4/4 kick, this is mellow acid house done exceptionally well.
