fear of flying unleash their first ever lp with dutchman ivano tetelepta undertaking the honours. the 8 tracks on the vinyl are a step away from the traditional straight up 4/4 route that fof usually tread, feeling that for an lp to make a splash in the modern era it has to be more about the flow of tracks as a whole, rather than just a double pack of straight up house beats. there has to be a splash more emotion and feeling with the emphasis on mood. yet that isnt to say there arent club worthy tracks, far from it. the glorious twisted 120 and deep tech funk 119 are custom made for the dancefloor and are exclusive to the vinyl release

antonio olivieri presents a sort of tightness and sheen quality in his tracks that grade him a highly skilled and polished producer. antonio helms a knack of finding inescapable mood and desire in this 3 track ep, >rudiments< the latest from steyoyoke, and arguable its most exciting output yet. the ep combines elements of repose and melodic tranquility with dance worthy tracks. as the title suggests rudimentary components provide the basis, in a way that distinguishes each track to its own dance floor setting.

considered by those in the know to be one of the founding fathers of dutch electronic music, rick van breugel makes returns to his rare electrick dragon alias for a superlative debut on the cyber dance imprint with space connection. hardly the most prolific of labels, cyber dance releases are invariably italo disco worthy of your attention and the three tracks here ensure this status quo remains! tough and rough, >night with you< finds room amidst the flexed drums and thick arpeggiated groove to drop some romantic italo vibes for the lovers out there, whilst some sort of odd laser fx on the two adds that extra degree of individuality to the gleefully effervescent exercise in constantly building joy that is the title track. final track >soon as the stars< is a production that could only have emerged from the lowlands, the ever present outer galactic synth work and subtle yet intricate tape saturated percussion complemented by key lines that spiral in and out of focus with hypnotic intent.

hypeltd are happy to introduce another new talent in the form of j. alvarez. it is a name you wont know yet, but the man behind it – seattle based producer chris 214 – has already made a name for himself with some rude electro, techno and even ghetto tech releases on in-the-know labels like frustrated funk (a subsidiary of clone) harbour city sorrow (and again) and others. now, though, he is on a house tip, and it is for that reason that he has assumed this new moniker…
continuing in the tradition of offering up sounds a little less accessible than its older hypercolour brother, hypeltd seems to have once again unearthed a producer more than worthy of popular attention.

a shuffling mix of acoustic guitar riffs, licks, natural percussion and of course razs well known melancholic vocal lines all come together to generate a country folk feeling of the 60s. a dampened kick drives the energy deep and harmonicas seep into our minds and set our soul on fire. a fresh track for a hot summer day on the lake. acid pauli takes the track and acidizes it by adding, yep, acid lines and a very direct kick. the track gains more of a main time vibe, heightened energy and deeper bass allow this track to hold its own in a variety of set styles. the final mix is an open air anthem delivered from the sorry entertainers m. rux and lotti. using percussion of the same natural flavor and incorporating dirty synth lines, the two produce a heavier mix worthy of both dancefloors and home listening.

nice price deal !!! being in the same gene pool as pat sharpes hair is enough of a stigma to steer any young djs career off course - deep in the discos of pop trash. fortunately for metaphi / metske, although still benefitting from the same glossy 90s locks as the radio-jock/distant uncle, musical inspiration came from more complex climates. wigflex006 acts as a fine electronic switchboard to metaphis archive of talents, a complicated circuit board of the experimental ranging from hip hop, idm, and garage to blues harmonicas and classical rifts, seamlessly melted into one gloop of green circuitry where each musical discipline must co-exist with another. as metske the bpms hover around 95, the framework is hip-hop, the sound often skwee but the influences thereafter are endless, slow train blues clicks its way through a steam train intro before marring the lines between electronic music and the blues with a self-composed harmonica rift worthy of howlin wolf. at the same tempo spin states delves into the cosmic with pipey neon chords and bit-crunched bass: sega mega drive boss level business. metaphis taste for big room techno is blatant and genetically wigflex over sharpflex, and in terms of nationality its mongrel, half notts, half eastern europe. with concious mentis hes keeping things minimal but charged from lower frequencies and messmode progresses with some serious dancefloor swagger.

with its 58th announcement, diynamic presents a three track various artists ep which will surely make every club and open air go insane. nobody else is a collaboration between netherlands export karmon and ntfo, who already appears on the various artist ep and on h.o.s.h.s latest ep. nobody else already got huge attention by the club scene. with its bouncy baseline and its driving hats highlighted by spherically playful notes nobody else immediately casts a spell over you. with his second contribution, karmon creates a wonderful interaction between good and evil. with the funky brass synth on top of a pumping baseline wowshit is a worthy employer name for this ep and a proof for of what 24 year old karmon is capable of. on the b side betoko delivers a melodic dance tune.raining again convinces by a deep male vocal with is supported by dramatic organs and a bouncy baseline. to be honest, the meaning of the hook is familiar to everyone

the final track of this release is an unusual track with at least an unusual name intelligent gum, which took a worthy area of the second side of vinyl. first of all, this track is remarkable duration of sound. despite the fact that it’s track so long lasting, but this it wants to listen again and again! it is quite hypnotic. soft as wadding and tasty as a chocolate with a delicious taste of liquor. in the course of listening you will find a lot of mystery and surprises for you, just enjoying the taste of chocolate with liquor.

having established their respected london club night and weekly podcast, bleep43 launch their label with an outstanding four-track ep. gerard hanson aka convextion / e.r.p., a regular guest at bleep43 since 2006, delivers el camino, an unmissable slice of emotive, absorbing electro-techno that shows just why he’s so revered by the connoisseurs. this is followed by the immense, symphonic electro of plant43’s teflon jacket, a worthy addition to his acclaimed back catalogue on ai records and semantica. on the b-side, orphan’s debut view from delfgauw is a stunning piece of deep 110 bpm techno and the sparse, well-crafted coarse materials by fellow newcomer jo johnson finishes a great first release.

vanguard sound is back with its newest record. chris mitchells phrenetic ep is vanguard sounds second release. coming on the heels of the wildly popular vanguard sound vol. 3, this ep continues to uphold the aesthetic created with the first release, while simultaneously expanding it. the phrenetic ep features four tracks from the mind and studio of a quickly rising north american talent that all walk the fine line between house and techno. all are very complex rhythmically, with both banging drums, and lush tones. a perfect 3 way marriage of classic chicago, detroit, and new york vibrations, the record contains set peaks, as well as transitional tracks that allow djs to traverse from house to techno and back. already receiving massive amounts of positive feedback, this ep is proving to be a more than worthy follow up to vs001.

transmissions from the cyber dance imprint have been sporadic since its inception in 2005, but when they arrive they are always something very special indeed. ostensibly one of italo discos great lost producers, we suspect that bandidos gang may well be a nom de plume for one of the labels many associates. whatever their provenance, the tracks certainly sound like vintage italo, with >marinche< leading with a pulsating bass arpeggio and synth horn melody worthy of moroder, whilst the flemming dalum & steen gjerulff remix adds layers of vocoder and a variety of cosmic accents to its sturdy frame. >last train to tucamari< meanwhile takes a more languid approach, pulling in an opposite direction to the speeding train samples, whilst flemming dalum & mike saltas remix adds some guitar licks, hazy synth atmospherics and even a flute solo which just adds to the classic italo feel.

welcome reissue for this super-rare space funk album from 1983, one of the holy grails of the cosmic scene. extremely expensive and hard-to-find in the original, this lp was created by legendary french producers jean-pierre massiera and bernard torelli (listed here as areisam and bernie) and released on french label savoir faire. it is a superb example of the duos innovative electronic disco madness, always pushing boundaries while remaining supremely funky. stand-out tracks are the italo classic >challenger< - heady synths, tough bass and astronaut vocals combine in a strange space odyssey, >cruisin<, a superb electro-boogie style cut with a hypnotic driving bassline, and the fantastic >on the border<, a tight funky percussive workout whipped by wild space-rock guitars. but as you would expect from the massiera/torelli trademark, all tracks are great and the lp a worthy addition to any self-respecting italo / cosmic collection.

seven tracks on the new lowriders release and its a real joy to listen to! the ep opens with the cheerful title track with the likes of kissey on vocals and it is amazingly sticky and feels like a compendium of 30 years of electronic music, with seemingly effortless transitions between detroit house, booty bass and future music.baby treats you on a twostep/house bumper which will kill you. bek is like your 808 swingbeat ghetto track: redundancy to the bone covered with bubbles and some essential vocoder science. sduk makes baby into a dancefloor stomper, whereas starkeys interpretation of field (which appeared on our beatitude compiler) adds and enhances drama and suspense from the original.and then there is the magical krampfhaft remix of tic tac toe, a worthy last track, schizofrenic, driven and recognizable as a mutated juke screamer.

a big blast coming here from multi talent broombeck. broombeck is known for some fine releases in the past on opossum rec. and terminal m, creating a big stir with his track >the clapper< in 2009. his track wtfai is a mega rocker coming with a monstrous vocal and a seductive speedy drum programming getting it to the die hard fans in a big way. broombecks trademark is dance floor energy exercised in perfection, this is a frenetic club smasher from the future with a big nod to the past. bassdriven techno on the highest level and frankly if you dont move your feet to this tune, you better retreat back home. the remix was done by m.in who teamed up with the frankfurt artists jonas fort his. the remix works great with a long intro and adding percussion step by step creating a rush in the second half that makes it a worthy companion.

after several hot tunes on worthy’s anabatic imprint, birminghams tom flynn joins the ranks of the dirtybird crew. i ve battle tested the a-side of this record all around the world. >catch that bird< is a rare mix of deep rooted funk whilst also sounding like a caribbean jungle track pitched down to 126. my favorite!
i d play this ep just on the strength of the a-side but i feel like a lot of attention will also be given to the b-side called >rhode island<. this is a classic piece of deep house with all the melodic elements of a dirtybird jam.
tom sent me at least 7 tracks before i signed these so the guy is certainly prolific and i expect to hear quite a bit more from this up and comer this year.
