dubtil’s debut for amphia comes in line with the previous 10 releases’ tagline: tailoring new musical perspectives into the multidimensional universe of electronic music. the opener -indoiala- sticks into our brains with its slow decaying voices, pitched down to embrace the devilishly simple percussion. keeping the same eerie approach to his idea of dancefloor oriented loops, dubtil completes side a with -alta schema-, another typical kick-led experience enveloped into a more haunting bassline. bearing a deep house dna yet not losing contact with the dancefloor energy through its breaks pattern, side b’s -repet slap repet- opens the gates to the abstract structure of -contrar-, an apparently chaotic contiguity of weird samples, glued to each other by the minimalistic bassline. jumping from one genre to another, confronting dusty preconcieved ideas just to turn them into a fresh sound: dubtil’s imagination fountain is far from getting dry! we now have the tangible proof.

2016 repress , informa experiments is a new series from informa records, the aim is to use new methods and ideas to spark creativity and push forward the ever evolving sound of electronic music. irexp001 is a special collaborative project by deepbass, ness, jeroen search and nx1. the idea was to work together on a 4 way collaboration, each artist put a selection of sounds into a folder then from that folder of sounds each artist would create an individual piece of music.

there is a new label on the horizon and it s first release is all about warm heavy detroit influenced deep techno. another earth combines 2 acts together in a split ep series which compliment each other s sound. the a-side hosts the renowned u.s. based producer, myles serge (ms - re(form)) who, for these 2 tracks, let his machines run crazy beat patterns in a old school detroit techno vibe. the b-side features dutch based duo duijn and douglas (esther duijn and steady douglas). their stripped warm heavy padded deep techno influenced tracks are perfect for creating some heat on the dance floor and the b2, stray, is driven by berenice van leer s lush intense voice.

stockholm ltd welcomes nihad tule to the label, pairing the sweden-based producer with label boss par grindvik for a split ep titled >landmarks<. each component of this five track release, although written separately, fits together like a story which was meant to be.

emotional especial and cocktail d amore music enter cahoot-mode once again with a second round of sfire remixes that take proceedings down a deeper, more stripped-back path courtesy of the inimitable timothy j fairplay and willie burns. two artists who need little introduction offer up two remixes each that take the unique original to new dance floor extremes. timothy steps up first with his take on -sfire 2- via differing vocal and instrumental versions. his trademark, echo laden rolling percussion and john carpenter-style key lines take the original synth-pop homage to the dark room. adding arps, a lifting, hedonistic breakdown and the scatter-stepper drums and claps found on the instrumental version and this is pure cotf territory and the better for it. mr willie burns meanwhile has long followed his own path for his take on -sfire 3-, offering one of his deepest remixes to date. thudding kick, brooding pads and dark strings force the vocals to go down, way down for examination. the distorted vocals of remix 1 are countered by remix 2 letting the track shine via a seemingly endless 4/4 beat. psychedelic, trance inducing, pulsating, this is an ever growing mind expanse.

e.o.s. is the acronym of evod, oisel and syntaxism. the collaboration is born togheter with a new catalogue of evod music, called evod excursions. luna nuova is the first of the 8 releases planned on trasparent 7inch vinyls. the collaboration project was born to blend the main sonorities of each artist, with no borders of experimentation. all the sounds were created and processed with analog machines, live recorded. the final result is a track splitted in x and y on the wax, a full side and an ambient side, respectively.

two of australia’s most promising prospects have collaborated on a stand alone release. modern day renaissance beat maker ta-ku and brisbane-based vocalist wafia will release the (m)edian - ep worldwide on future classic. having previously work together on wafia’s own standout single ‘heartburn’, the plan for a collaborative release was hatched when ta-ku produced a cover of estelle’s ‘american boy’, aptly titled ‘american girl’ with wafia on featuring vocals, for a sold out moma ps1 live show in october 2015. the result is a 5 track release that unites the strengths of each artist - a unique, creative and classy exploration of admiration, paternity, compromise and egalitarianism.

redefine is the second single taken from trentemøllers new album fixion and features marie fisker on vocals. marie fisker, a mainstay of the trentemøller live constellation, has also been a long-time studio collaborator of anders and her four songs on fixion mark their third musical partnership. marie has such a powerful and unique voice that fits my music quite naturally. i had her in mind as soon as i started writing. she ended up singing on four of the songs so shes definitely the voice that kind of leads you through the album. having toured so extensively with marie, we ve come to understand each others capacities and that really pushes us to challenge and inspire each other. i reckon thats the driving force behind our songwriting.

fideles is the joint moniker of italian duo daniele aprile and mario roberti, who have carved out a niche for their distinctive brand of deep, techy house on noted labels such as defected, be as one, and marco resmann’s upon you, among others. here on their first outing for poker flat recordings, the duo cook up four courses of lean, focussed tech-house for steve bug’s seminal imprint. ‘detuned’ starts the journey - an edgy, tense groove exhibiting the boy’s masterful sound design and use of space to create a thick, intoxicated atmosphere. ‘i’m rude’ is more direct - a thumping bass drum introduces a low slung bass groove, slowly evolving and mutating into a true party-starter. ‘worthy’ uses similar building blocks but delivers a different vibe altogether, revelling in a minimalist production aesthetic and cheeky bass riff. ‘ran baran’, the title track, is another lesson in great production - each element perfectly balanced to create an atmosphere of controlled mayhem - which is exactly the response this entire ep aims to instigate on dancefloors.

damien lynch enjoys countryside a drive in the twilight hour. this is his second offering for the esp institute. on side a, brunette opens with a straight-ahead techno thump of hi-hats and a pulsating 16th-note bassline—a subtle playing field composed solely with a rare 1970’s italian machine, the godwin drummaker 32, unearthed from the secret back room of a music shop in rural ireland where it hid among wonderful vintage russian synths and oddball electronics. this elegant track drips with warm and phasing pads, gentle staccato keys and beautifully simple arpeggios that blur every now and then—all affirming damien’s less-is-more ideology. with side b’s forced relax, damien continues to exercise his restraint, arranging his instruments in a band-like fashion, affording each player the sonic space to project their individual qualities whilst supporting an overall dialogue. there is a soft ebb and flow to every machine’s role, whether the swelling of bass or the interplay of percussive keys, but when these characters arrive in one place, the result is a tranquil euphoria. these two songs will accept you for who you truly are.

as until my heart stops turns 10, we head back across the atlantic , this time to boston and a stunning ep from the still hugely under rated deviere. deviere is a music producer and radio disc jockey (progressive black, 90.3 fm wzbc newton) based in boston, massachusetts. he first came to our attention with the transcendental numbers ep on jamal moss mathematics label in 2012 and we ve waited on each release ever since, including last year s huge future shock disco ep (a collaboration with jamal himself). here deviere presents 3 beautiful examples of his deep, soulful craft and a fitting way for umhs to hit double figures.

nice price deal !!! 4/4 bass drive. the second release of the label bomjbar consists of two tracks. it excels the first one in its obsession, efficacy and energy. advanced daddy contains a part of percussion bass, which accompanies the whole composition. a hard skeleton and high-pitch cry run through your body, especially when there is a high sound. hoboken hollow is softer, but only at the first sight. the composition consists of some parts, which mutually complement each other and it is necessary to listen it overall in order to understand it.

resplendent in its simplicity, forever is the sound of emika boiled down to her steely essence. gated vocal snippets and haunting synth arpeggios give a nod to early-90s proto-trance, the arps filtering in and out of focus in tense fashion before unfolding into a dreamy melodic progression ‘never’ treads similar ground but takes a more direct approach, the tension building consistently in layers as more arpeggiated synths gently modulate in hypnotic fashion shimmering, icy sounds create a haunting, slow-burning atmosphere before the rhythm switches up for the latter half of the track, layers of gated white noise further punctuating the groove. emika deftly utilises each element for maximum effect, allowing each to breathe and shine by way of slick production and clever arrangement.

10 years redshape live is a special thank you to the labels i mainly worked with in the past ten years and also to all the people on worlds dance floors, which gave me so many stellar moments. starting on running back, the best of live series will contain tracks which were only part of my live set: previously unavailable and not even arranged as full tracks. as i always record my shows, i searched for the moment, in which each of those tracks had their biggest and also earliest impact. i took that recording and rebuild them part by part to make them proper dj versions without loosing their live roots. named after the cities where they were performed. av aviv and rome.

timmy ps latest outing on dessous recordings continues the long list of illustrious labels that have been home to his house vision. now based in london, timmy has a string of emphatic releases under his belt, not least on influential imprints such as local talk, extended play, dirt crew and madtech. with safety first, timmys playful approach to the deeper side of house shines though. the title track mixes crisp, crunchy drums with warm, soft pads and a bubbling bass line - a deep rolling cut with plenty of punch for the floor. the fantastically named grim fandango is a little tougher, with the snares and claps snapping tightly over a taut, un-resistible vibe. timmys balance of dynamics is masterful, each element perfectly complimenting each other to create a tour de force over 8 minutes. bosh is similarly crafted - the original echoing classic 90s house but feeling completely fresh for 2016, while james dexters remix is a robust, deep roller. this is house music made with joy and passion.

for the 11th release 7777 presents the ghost miners remixes. for these remixes i offered each producer samples from different songs from the 2 ghost miners records. instead of doing straight forward remixes of a single song, i put forth the proposal for each artist to make their own version of a ghost miners song from scratch or using any samples they feel like. contributors include 3 of my favorite producers. 2 in demand artists, fit siegel and andreas gehm and one new comer, brian thrash. andreas gehm s version is a standard acid gehm gem. calling in the chords from the originals mixed with standard gehm acid brilliance. in fit siegel s version you ll find the perfect pure underground dance sound. featuring ray-7 on hand drums fit constructs a remix that combines elements of classic detroit and chicago sound while keeping the attitude and acid aesthetic of the original material. on the b side brian thrash, controlling his analogue arsenal, takes you on an epic acid journey traversing through the underground and space. thank you for your time. - jared wilson

liam blackburn s transformative night of visions lp as ancestral voices forged a bold new sonic identity for an influential figure on the electronic music scene. from his groundbreaking work as indigo and onto the success of akkord s hybrid electronic melting pot (with synkro), the quest for forward movement is intrinsic to everything liam produces. to further celebrate the night of visions lp release, we asked some of our favourite producers to reconstruct some of night of visions highlights in their own style. each remixer chose their own track from night of visions to work with. the first name on our remix list was swedish producer and northern electronics label head - abdulla rashim. choosing invocations , his remix focuses on the hypnotic power of the original, turning the tune into a golden loop with subtle kick drum stabs, sweeping percussion and a dangling tension that hangs through the entire 7.33 minutes. asc & sam kdc chose feathered serpent and using just touches of the original tune have masterfully built an all new backbone that demonstrates clearly the ability of the grey area sound to work at 2 different tempo s and weld together with straight techno.

detroit enigma sharif laffrey makes a return to paramidas berlin-based love on the rocks imprint with pony ep. the two track ep marks his second release with the label (following key jam (a.c.i.d.) and his third release in three years - something of a roll for laffrey who typically allows years to pass between each outing.over 9 minutes of what sounds like nineties 4/4 indian acid-house bass music - in the best way. surprising vocals & a healthy 3 minute lead in. b-side: pony roger’ if the pony you were riding on the a-side was galloping through a grassy meadow - this pony heads into a dark cave. if the a-side is the never ending story then the b-side is the dark crystal. but with prince instead of bowie. sharif laffrey has been playing records and making music for 20 long hard years. born in detroit, michigan - hes worked on the line checking camshafts for chryslers & at submerge for mike banks - at the same time. he toured asia with juan atkins and once had to chase a grown man through the streets at night, who had crawled into his living room through an open window. an active member in detroits early rave scene, sharif remembers booking all foreign gigs with something he calls a fax machine.

peter michael hamel emerged from the 70s krautrock scene dreaming of “the blue flower growing between the milestones on the road to a future world-music”. a truly visionary artist who worked and studied with john cage, morton feldman and terry riley, his 1980 colours of time lp - an epic, sprawling, 22-minute saga - was hailed by the guardian’s rob fitzpatrick as “an absolute masterpiece of skull-bursting, synth-led ambient minimalism”. thirty six years on, astral industries reinterpret hamel s original vision with remixes from two contemporary heavyweights - wolfgang voigt and rod modell (aka deepchord). each expansive interpretation invites you to step outside of reality and into an alternative imagination of hamel s future world, spiralling into the colours and slowly out of time itself. original artwork by theo ellsworth and a massive thanks to peter michael hamel & eckart rahn.

young producer from amiens, duns scott first fell in love with rock and post rock. it’s after coming across the music of boards of canada, aphex twin and other warp artists, that he starts delving into the many subgenres of electronic music. eventually, he becomes a proper record digger of jazz, funk and disco, which will deeply affect his music writing. neidio is the outcome of a mixture of influences, each tune with its own idio yncratic sound and story. timelanding was drafted as if a real studio session with actual musicians was happening, the jazz vocal samples try to instate the synergy of musicians interacting with each other. neij is the imaginary soundtrack of a dream inspired by the art cover of the ep. mixed by duns scott / masterized by sven weisemann.

since 1987, frak have been everyone s favourite, premier swedish synthesizer-touching weirdos. even if most people hadn t heard of them until 4 years ago. and yet, world of frak is as long as it is wide. as blue as it is black. as ominous as it is glorious. as dirty as it is hairdryer. sweet it is as yellow paper as. all of the above is a perfect example of how trying to convey what frak is in the crass form of words is ultimately fruitless. here is a double 12inch vinyl product from ultimate hits featuring eight audio recordings from frak: three men who have known each other since at least 1987. the sleeve was lovingly hand screen-printed at the studio of house of traps, and features the colours commonly known as pink and black.

2015 was probably the busiest of my career, during the course of the year i lived many hours of flights and delays at airports, stayed at hotels with wonderful views immersed in nature and others, on the contrary, very urban. i must admit that many of these scenarios were the kick start of the creative process of oscillators ep. this is an ep conceived strictly for the dancefloor, and its creation was a perfect combination between air and land, as all the tracks began on a plane and were developed on land. a very important part of the creative process when youre working on a track is the mood youre in, and there is always an extra excitement before, during and after each show, the space where you work. i take advantage of that moments and translate those feelings into music. - flug

the aim of „métamorphose“ is to offer a voyage to the listener. the pieces really often start quite dark and then the mood turns into something intimate to catch the audience from the deeper spheres. sometimes it goes the other way as well: the track starts in a happy way and turns into a deeper vibe. by doing so the listener should notice his own feelings and try to completely let himself go. further he should be aware of his emotions: on the one hand the happy and melancholic and on the other hand the dark and rather monotonous side. in addition to the musical part to each track there is a specific artwork which was made while listening to the tracks and is based on the emotional expressions which were triggered by the sounds.
