nice price deal !!! no doubt looking for somewhere with a bit of political stability and a brighter economic future, 24 year old polish producer jan dudzik aka sekta recently joined many of his compatriots by leaving london and farking off back to his native warsaw. luckily, he left us a bottle of the finest vodka to remember him by, and a four track ep of stepping rhythms, fat bass and dubby atmospherics to help wash it down.

lol is a bit of an unusual project, its just a thing in its own right, its not for anything or anyone in particular, its just an lp made by three bored people who like music that sounds like it did before the advent of the internet. the project was recorded in the bedroom of a warehouse conversion in hackney wick (bedrooms can be incredibly creative spaces, seeing as most of us were conceived in one). they wrote about self-obsession, social anxiety, drug abuse, and failed relationships using pre-21st century recording devices such as vhs tape, 70s valve microphones, analogue synths, cheap argos catalogue guitars, and 80s drum machines.

after several hot tunes on worthy’s anabatic imprint, birminghams tom flynn joins the ranks of the dirtybird crew. i ve battle tested the a-side of this record all around the world. >catch that bird< is a rare mix of deep rooted funk whilst also sounding like a caribbean jungle track pitched down to 126. my favorite!
i d play this ep just on the strength of the a-side but i feel like a lot of attention will also be given to the b-side called >rhode island<. this is a classic piece of deep house with all the melodic elements of a dirtybird jam.
tom sent me at least 7 tracks before i signed these so the guy is certainly prolific and i expect to hear quite a bit more from this up and comer this year.

we again two flying something objects are located in the orbit, waiting for permission to land on your turntables and in the lay-by of your recordbag. this time with 13 pieces of stl deep shakin house madness, mindscratching lo-fi grooves, cranky energized synth activities, dope loops and sound effects. all pressed on a delicious double vinyl album with a limited printing of 500 covers! the music is all hardware based and sequenced. recorded in live sessions without any computer arrangements. surely the style is not for everyone and compared to others, probably seems a bit unconform, cat-headed or sometimes just different. but it s always true spiritual. an open minded artform with the sense for functionality. every track is talking to you in musical form without any barriers straight down to your feet and feeling. as in all something releases there is much sound personality and imagination inside, giving the listener a ticket to the fascinating world of beat orientated something music. get on board and enjoy the trip.

the new kill a beat is coming straight from berlin! it s a split ep by the friends alex sander and lars wickinger. alex sander is well known by his label killabeat and last release on session deluxe with rekardo rivalo. he was living some years in sao paulo. there he worked as booking agent for intergroove. this time gave him a lot of influences for his music. his style is a hot mix of minimal electro and techhouse. now alex presents 1 track (nuit) for kill a beat. nuit is a very warm and soulful funky tech-house tune. you can really feel the spirit of south america in this track. nuit is rollin very percussive and groovy with some vocal snippets and typical south american folk elements. the second one is made by lars wickinger. after his releases on tanzbar and kachelfunk, he finally is back with funky buthole on kill a beat ! on the b-side is an amazing remix by andy kohlmann (lordag / extrasmart). his style is a little bit deeper and more minimalistic. this track is perfect for the current techhouse sound all around the world. the whole ep is definitely hot, and will bring the summer back to your hearts, during the cold fall months.

numan khan from manchester is a new artist for planet mu with an original musical style that mixes dubstep and grime influences with an idiosyncratic take on rhythm to great effect.

numbers follow up the instant sell out that was redinhos bare blips with this red hot collaboration between two of the most exciting producers around just now - roska and untold. collaborations of this sort have a tendency to be a little bit underwhelming but on myth and long range the two producers have dug deep to come up with a perfect marriage of each others styles. this is house music as it should be - fresh, exciting, raw and banging. untolds grimey sub fit perfectly with roskas syncopated drums and the wailing horns on myth are gonna be stuck in your brain for days. one of the most exciting records around at the moment, dont sleep on it.

its been 18 months since our first nang release, d-pulses >more<. nestled on that release was an extra ep track called >highway to saturn<. much to our delight it turned out to be a bit of a gem. when it featured on the tirk 02 and kitsune ponystep / jerry bouthier compilations we knew we were all onto something. newcomer ricardo rae with a straight stomper on this hot tango solo debut. >hold on< is a tangy gem of crisp, clean and snapping deep house - loads of thick basslines, key stabs and some jazzy elements working nicely in the mix. on the flip the hot chuck love kills it with his mix - toughening up the percussion a bit, laying down a buzzing bassline and throwing down a tasty breakdown, all with that trademark chuck love funky strut. solid stuff for the youngman, heather and fred everything fans here.

small low profile run of this reggie dokes >until tomorrow< remix 12. a-side is done by serge who finally did hit the studio with his buddy gerd and played around a bit with the lovely original version. flip side is done by the talented ben sun (known for his tracks on the new voyeurhythm label). two fine house version approaching the original on two different ways. highly limited copies with simple black label and royal oak stamp.

to add a bit more mystique to the current state of techno, the secret initiative debuts with a 12 inch of dark spacial acidic drone techno music to provoke thought and body reflex movement.

fourth single cut from the latest kuniyuki album >walking in the naked city<. a side,>set me free< was a most clubby tune on the album.kuniyuki edited to bit dirty and more funky. this track is all around for the fan of francois kevorkian to villalobos. b side,original version of >strom< was a classical ambient house track with female vocal. kuniyuki edited to instrumental and added stronger beats.this new version remind early production of blaze or danny tenaglia. both tracks are deep and emotional and lovely dj tool. its real deep house.

fans of the itchy robot sound will go mad for this release as it has all his trade mark production technics glitchy beats and deep b-lines rule, are you ready to funky is the cry you hear from the intro. then from the drop the drums take over and with the screeching synth and power bass matched for effect. esoteric sound delivers a similar sounding track although it rolls along a bit smoother with a pounding driving b-line, and echoed out one beat vocal hook.

bassbuero a.k.a. thomas ingold and his partner björn müller are long-year resident djs and promoters in our hive club and come around the corner with a smooth customer debut. the title could not be any more designative, as with this is not house music we have a knotless and outstanding 90s number with lots of pathos and - declaredly - they have looked over some shoulders of big protagonists from france. when the vocoder chords are crossing swords with this insane bassline, every ravers heart must beat at least one octave higher. this is the tune for a perfect sunrise and big feelings on the floor. on the flip we have gruber & nuernberg, some good pals of bassbuero that played in hive several times as well - they contribute a complete antipole to the the original. almost a bit trancey they spin the chords over a straight old school house groove, never let the basic spirit of the original out of sight and though don t forget to leave their very own traces on this remix. in addition we have - as with every release - a digital exclusive bonus track, that certainly does not deserve the rating house music - lets call it rather fidget than deep. but be sure, its all gone will blow your mind out.
