g.i.disco - an 80s history of cold war s hottest music in west-germany berlin local dj heroes kalle kuts and daniel w. best a.k.a. g.i.disco have compiled an excellent 80s soul, funk, r & b and disco selection. it combines representative music of that time with informative liner notes about the german historical background (which also is an important part of 20th century s world history), international artist quotes and worldwide renowned art by berlin based photographer frank thiel to an unique history lesson and listening experience. soul, funk and r&b from the us became a worldwide dance and clubbing movement during the 70s when it turned disco. in the late 70s and 80s more and more new electronic instruments like synthesizers and drum machines were added to the horn riffs and piano licks, bringing the funk back on the dance floor while still leaving it s soul untouched. although a global success story, it played an interesting role especially in the german experience. lp comes in gatefold sleeve.

this sampler, first of two, holds three tracks from the classic >spelunking< ep, which was originally released on planet e and with which he solidified his name in the scene. track a2, land of the lost dance, is an unreleased track from that era. another fine example which shows that recloose is the don of mixing funk and techno. with this compilation we celebrate reclooses early works from the late 90s, early 00s. this material is often regarded as his best. the compilation includes his best music from that period, both released and unreleased.

final release !!! rush hour presents a new series of releases entitled -voyage direct-. this series is about all about feel good club music and is curated by tom trago. hence the name voyage direct, which was also the title of his debut double ep. dexter kicks off this series in a classy style with his junofest ep. this is easily his best work since his genre breaking electrofunk hit -i dont care- from 2000. and now its time for -junofest ep-. the title track is a steady, yet smooth club groove with enough wsing to make anyone dance to the music. a true party starter. on the aa side we find -not the only one-, an infectious vocoder vocal track that makes you smile. this is one of those rare tracks that has a poppy, commercial feel without losing its underground raw appeal. it could just be his biggest track since -i dont care-
