2016 was a banner year for dirtybirds founder, claude vonstroke. he debuted his get real alias with green velvet in the winter, and followed up with another number one single in the spring with the rain break. he celebrated the 10th anniversary of whos afraid of detroit to kick off the summer, and finished in the fall by being crowned americas best dj by pioneer at a ceremony he shared with all the fans at the dirtybird campout. after a relentless touring schedule the first half of 2017, claude hit the studio with a couple ace producers, will clarke & sébastien v to collaborate on two giant singles for the works well with others ep. tiny tambourine is the product of will clarke & claude working together. its a bit of a misnomer, as tiny is the last word to describe the heavy bassline which starts to form immediately at the tracks outset. continuing to build over crisp and heavy beats and outbursts of drama before dropping back to the burly bassline, the result is monstrous. will clarke has been on a dirtybird hot streak having released 3 solo eps, 5 singles, an appearance on justin martins album, as well as a brand new collab with shiba san on the bbq compilation and a full takeover on the birdhouse radio show. on the flip side, claude teams up with one of dirtybirds freshest talents, sébastien v, for daylight dark room a light, melodic tone contrasts with a dark and funky acid resonance to create a truly unique masterpiece. the mysterious sébastien v was also featured on the dirtybird bbq compilation with his super-hot track funkulate, and there are rumors floating around that he is actually someone from the core dirtybird roster sporting a secret alias.
yeah, blah blah. lorem ipsum rainbow banana bullshit tacos. aren’t those release descriptions really senseless and stupid? as if anyone cared about a text explaining music. it’s like posting selfies or continuously crying about the good old days. but you know what, while writing this - i’m sitting here on a wooden chair at my favorite pizza spot. the sun is shining and i’m eating these damn delicious pizza margherita slices. i might get some tiramisu afterwards. i don’t know. dessert first some might say. but i’m more a dessert after kind of guy. anyway, tiramisu is always a good choice.
ps: i guess now you still don’t know anything about the record, but reading a lame description wouldn’t help either.
the latest compilation from dutch imprint wolfskuil records offers up three more secret weapons continuing the series with four artists already well at home on the label.as the title suggests, each track is a heavy-hitter, but as a whole this release acts as a showcase exposing three very different approaches to peak-time techno.
ltd to 200 copies
hailing from east london but otherwise shrouded in mystery, loop lf makes a strong first appearance with this opening gambit for well street records. there s a diverse array of sounds presented across this 12-, with the intricate minimalisms of -moon gz- matching glitchy percussion with ethereal pad tones to great effect before -ocean drums- opens the sound out into a broader, fuller broken beat context. -stepping back- is an audacious production that makes full use of the space between the drum hits before -you wouldn t understand- heads into an overtly reduced, dubstep-minded headspace perfect for all lovers of the original fwd vibe in a modern setting.
secret operations is proud to present another releases from seba. stasis is track that started as an experiment with native instruments maschine. different drumpatterns triggered in sequence is a big part of the arrangement, and the track evolves in to a soundscape that seba is so well known for. inner world was sitting unfinished on sebas laptop for years, untill he decided that now is the time to finish it. it brings memories back to the days of early metalheadz and to the early days of seba¶dox.
following the peace obscured ep by bokeh, his joint venture with anthone, katsunori sawa sets yet another mark on the weevil neighbourhood with his first full-length solo artist album on the label. titled secret of silence the eight tracks-spanning work of kyoto based sawa drills through japan techno, industrial breaks and noise while flirting with breakcore and a more aggressive take on dub.
katsunori sawa has been with the label for pretty much four years now with solo projects as well as joint ventures (besides the aforementioned bokeh, he’s also part of steven porter with his brother in arms yuji kondo with whom he also runs their own 10 label). his musical career reaches back another few years when he was writing and producing under eoc (short for enormous o clock), including an album for ai records.
the release comes as a limited edition 12” record on black vinyl with artwork by l.a. based lee noble (no kings records/ bathetic).

a new long-form offering of poignant, isolationist machine music from secret boyfriend. eschewing the cryptic and compact song-sketches that characterised his 2013 blackest ever black lp, this is always where you’ve lived, ryan martin instead guides us through vast interior topographies and nerve-damaged ambiences that comfort and deceive like memory itself. the vinyl release includes a download code.
the inaugural release from edible comes from lord leopard. direct from his studio, somewhere in the depths of rural cornwall, he brings some serious heat to the first release. mark of passion is a stellar slice of face melting, twisted tech-funk whilst fantastically well is a jazz heavy slugger, the good lord gets deep into the groove, flipping vocal samples and insane breakdowns for a very individual and unique sounding cut.
well cut records return with another deluxe vinyl release with dubble d presenting under his irrepressable moodymanc monniker. side a opens with comfort me, a deep and gritty sounding soulful jam, followed by a retouch of war and peace, a deep and dirty disco dance floor monster which has done serious damage in the past. luke solomun opens side b with his love and death re-make, toughening up the drums and adding some analogue twists to take the energy levels up to the point of frenzy! the record closes with hashtag, a no nonsense, tough chicago inspired groove which plays backdrop to a conversation between snoop dog and g unit about the music game today which we thought said a lot about the state of play in house music today! a beatapella is an addition to the digital version of the release for those djs who want to get more creative with the message!
WE GET DOWN & WELL (ROBERT HOOD / DJ 3000 REMIXES)

martins *escape from south warren* lp will arrive on october 5th on the label operated by frank juncaj, aka dj 3000. juncaj calls martin an *unsung hero of detroit techno* and cites his label, teknotika records, which has been running since 1993, as a key influence. the first remix ep, due out september 11th, features reworks by robert hood and dj 3000 in addition to two original cuts. mark broom and rolando contribute to the second ep, which arrives on october 12th.
faust recordings is the new black techno label established by the italian dj and producer cristian carpentieri and his friend sandro leucci, one of the most famous art directors, designers and illustrators in italy. faust: a music that is not immoral is unworthy of being called music at all. well-known pleasure ep includes a remix produced by silvision.
the second release for danny wards (dubble d/moodymanc) well cut records features an ep from balaphonic. a project which fuses organic live instrumentation and musicianship with deep and modal dancefloor sensibilities. adventures in lagos is a long evolving and deep building hypnotic afro groove featuring spoken word samples of fela kuti and street sounds taken from 1970s lagos.
a sublime three tracker that continues endless short history of releasing music that encapsulates an otherworldly beauty. the title track is a smooth deep dancefloor cut driven by a catchy chord pattern and crisp beats, while >vabene< encapsulates a rare exquisiteness with its chugging bassline and evocative melodic keys and already has a special place in clubbers’ hearts and minds after it was the opening track of lucas lauded set at sunday debauchery in nyc in june – a set he rates at the finest of the year so far. the ep is rounded out with the outstanding >la valse de la pertinence< that’s led by a call-and-response dual bass and key melody that drives the cut, making it simultaneously groove-ridden and sublime and spacey.
limitierte 180g vinyl edition von the men they couldnt hangs live-album >dogs eyes, owl meat and man-chop<, aufgenommen am 30. juli 2004 in der the islington academy london.
will to be well is the new studio album by dalhous, their second for blackest ever black. this double-lp reflects writer-producer marc dalls continued interest in the life and arcana of r.d. laing, but also alludes to more universal and enduring mysteries: the relationships between body and mind, illness and wellness, the physical and the metaphysical.
the double vinyl lp includes free download of the full album.

KNOWING WELL BE HERE (KINK & BEYOND THE WIZARDS SLEEVE REMIXES)
12 Inch 13.06.14
phantasy release the next in a series of remix 12s for daniel averys hugely acclaimed drone logic album. first up, kink applies his ever-masterful touch to knowing well be here for a wholly euphoric house embrace whilst, on the flip, label boss erol alkan resurrects beyond the wizards sleeve, his neu-pysche collaboration with richard norris, to push new energy fully into the realm of the third mynd with a very special re-animation.
from the often indistinct morass of modern hip-hop comes something so singular as to merit special attention wrote the guardian about: brownstudys tell me more about bubble album, released on third ear in 2005. a most soulfully cerebral volume of no-pose wisdom. mojo wrote, musically: brownstudy evokes the clammy, distressed soul of sly stones riot, and the lush visions of 4 hero. life well lived is brownstudys new album. 11 songs (9 lyrical flows and 2 intrumentals).
since we opened our small record store in brighton we have been asked repeatedly for new garage releases on wax. this reminded us that not too much that is available at the moment which could easily fit that criteria. and as long term garage fans ourselves we are more than happy to oblige the faithful with 4 killa darkside steppers from londons buzzin 10. the beats harken back to classic uk garage but are topped off by synths that share common musical ground with detroit electro or european electronica.
the house reverends are a trinity of musicians in their own right combining talents through a love of vintage electronics, analogue tape, and downtuned rnb. they glide through londons club scene bringing a blend of fluid funk driven by their robotic drum machine. this ep is a three-stage journey into the hearts and souls of our shadowy heroes. it is a story of love. drivetime the first tune is a slow motion seduction. a musical massage. it is a high-grade slow dance that works from dinner til dawn. girl, i know one for the body poppers. a tense number expressing the addictive pain of lust. vocoder voices straining with desire as the fever grows. curious lady a dream-like climax. gaze across the galaxy in awe and surrender to the state of psychedelic ecstasy this song so easily conjures.
finally we can unleash the hi-tech soca bomb 2-4-6. with layers of exotic percussion morphing and weaving around a strict snapping rhythm, sounds abound in colourful patterns, carnival whistles strengthen the latin flavour whilst terrible shock directs the dance with his booming intonements. a festival of funky futurism. on the flip desto relocates the track to the ghetto. booming 808 sub-bass lines with plenty of punch drive the inventive on the one broken electro beat and the space opened up here leaves room for percussion to punctuate hard. check the cowbells and whistles (again). the whole track bounces as if on hydraulics!
hodge is a man of truly well rounded talents - creating infectious melody laden deep house with outboxx, across to his own weighty bruk-techno movers for the likes of deadplate records, to his recent truly forward-thinking collaboration with the ever inspirational pev.
877 records join with longtime friends and collaborators to present the well rounded rebel alliance ep. klic and riskotheque lead the way with their track compton, a bass heavy anthem already rocking the clubs and doing damage on radio. stomping 808′,,,,,s, sing along vocals and acid arpeggios join perfectly to form this instant classic. donga & blake more than do justice to the original with the compton give a dam jam remix. a perfect example of their sublimely considered approach, the reworking is an altogether deeper four to the floor roller using only finely selected elements from the original. well rounded in the house! next up is skeleton grin by donga & blake + richta. this original composition features vocals by donga over an intense and metallic techno-esque bass and kick. we are true believers in the power of a b-side and this is no exception.

with this third release we have returned to the structure of our first release together to bring you too wicked examples of his original take on house with a final track to send you on your way bathed in psychedelic sunshine vibes. how leon manages to combine ruff edges with smooth vibes is a talent in itself.
there are two tracks on nottingham producer spares >slacking ep< that immerse you really well in his taught world of bass pressure. kankle is firing tribal house, though its hard to get the measure of how the thud of the kick drum could ever fit under the bass work, and the weekend is a clipped garage pound with serenely oppressive low end
proper four track 12 inch vinyl! curious will get em jackin, medicine is a brazen belter, without end is all sultry and steamy with lust and longing and teedraheedren takes you on a psychedelic electro-funk odyssey before dovetailing into a dubbed-out arpeggio wonderland. we really are extremely pleased with the vibe of this release. hope it hits you in a good place
collectors item! upfront one sided and edged promo, strictly ltd to 50 numbered copies! only one copy per customer (nur eine kopie pro kunde).. dont sleep.. neo infected killer track

darek recordings presents this various artist release, divided in two colored vinyl editions, including productions of well-known artists who love and support secret island nation, such as: ian pooley, samuel l session, franco bianco, yapacc, david keno and many others. secret island nation is a 4-day festival on an extremely beautiful, lonely island in the west-swedish archipelago. depending on the year, during the last week of july or the first week of august, the utopian nation sweutschland will be founded, where its citizens define and live according their own rules. everything is built from scratch in a joint effort and the program is accompanied by finest, mostly electronic music on two floors by more than 30 very international artists. but bear in mind, this is the roughest part of the swedish west coast, weather and thus our plans will change or go wrong, expect the unexpected is part of the concept!
art reform– being newly invented, this expression has already come in view of the people who arent indifferent to electronic music.
sure thing, as the labels releasing vinyl in ukraine can be easily counted on the fingers of one hand. most of them have already fallen into oblivion having yielded to economic realia, but for art reform records it is just the beginning.
the evidence to which is the release from the main project ideologist, kiev resident joss. well-known for his devotion to vinyl and club rhythms joss has fully embodied himself in his debut plate artreform.
well roundeds unrestricted by genre label present to you 3 hype juke vibed bangers from atlantas distal. on >stuck up money< he hooks up with one of jukes leading talents dj rashad. dirty south battles chicago juke and everyone comes out a winner. drawled vocals against frenetic footwerkin beats makes for a fresh combination. on >behold the jungle< a massive musical quotation is submerged by a swarm of angry hoovers whereupon all manner of musical madness kicks off!! >short & sweet< cuts up the breaks over a rollercoaster of sub bass. belgian techno stabs contribute to the mayhem.
this latest release on well roundeds housing project imprint is somewhat of a departure. we came across this vocal track with a difference and were compelled to share it with your ears. videodrome are a brighton-based production duo who with have created something that seems at once very familiar but also strikingly different. the highly distinctive almost demonic vocal delivery of derek meins is here in all its lascivious glory riding a top a bold as brass synth-pop / retro-house hybrid with pure pop appeal. oh yes. donga & blake take the track into trademark deeper territory on the remix. support from martyn, mary anne hobbs, francesco farfa, dj ma1, benji b, hackman, xxxy & more.
dj support from: hudson mohawke, spencer (numbers), mary anne hobbs, hxdb, dj ma1 (rinse fm), sbtrkt, subeena, sines, hackman, seiji, xxxy, greenmoney, spatial, deadboy, graphics, ben ufo and more widespread radio support (germany. italy, australia / nz, poland, france...)
