after playing some of sage caswells exclusive tracks as part of their live set, it only seemed right for brooklyn trio archie pelago to welcome sage to the family. it all started with ap including *buyerside* in their resident advisor mix, which ended up getting remixed by them for this very release, making sure that their personal touch is left on every archie pelago music record.

archie pelago is the trio of hirshi, kroba, and cosmo d and they hail from brooklyn, ny. archie pelago combines their varied backgrounds in jazz and classical music with a common love for rhythm and the wide-open possibilities of electronic music. it is this sonic exploration that has led them to their most ambitious release to date: the sly gazabo ep.

the second release on the mister saturday night label by archie pelago, a brooklyn-based band that has played both the mister saturday night and mister sunday parties. they are a trio of players whose lighthearted name belies the seriousness of their music. consisting of a classically trained cellist, a classically trained saxophone player and a live programmer/dj, they make songs that work as well on dancefloors as they do in headphones.

sometimes club music doesnt need to be too clever. sometimes all you need is an insistent groove and a hook. allow nuance, subtlety or layers upon layers of carefully sculpted found sounds, sometimes the drive to dance to a piece of music overtakes the rational over thinking and just inspires movement. that is precisely what this trio of original productions from 19 year old brummy, wattville aka matthew evans, does incredibly well to inaugurate sonic router records debut vinyl release.

this is brothers and sisters, a summary of the sound of mister saturday night records to date. the album brings together all the artists who’ve released on the label – alex burkat, anthony naples, archie pelago, boya, dark sky, general ludd, gunnar haslam, hank jackson, keita sano and lumigraph – combining music made specifically for this record and tracks that have until now only been available on vinyl. (a special triple vinyl edition of all the unreleased tracks is being released in conjunction with the cd.)
