for finitude music s 5th release, label owner marcel heese and alexander kowalski aka d_func. share their visions on thought control. both tracks on the ep harbour the same intent, but each of them approaches it in a different way. d_func. s take revolves around sahko-like bleeps, if you are into early mika vainio or sleeparchive, look no further! but instead of being loopy, it s definitely a builder. its original trance track-like structure is sure to rock many an underground dancefloor. marcel s vision is slower and less straight-forward but creates and maintains a high tension. based on dense a bassline and intricate soundscapes, it builds up slowly, only to explode halfway through. an extra payoff also comes at the very end of a track, its noise/ambient outro making a perfect way to wrap up an amazing party at 8am somewhere deep in the heart of berlin.

2015 has been a busy year for soul intent. relocating from nottingham to bromley, releasing -the fruit club ep- on lossless in march, his -wanna fight ep- dropped on klute s commercial suicide in august, the sci-fi themed -replicant- marked lossless music s first digital only release in october and his -late night sleaze ep- has been awarded mixmag s dnb tune of the month (nov 15 issue). on top of all this alex is about to launch two (yes two!!) sub-labels for lossless music. the first of these is exkursions. exkursions will cater for the deeper, more experimental side of dnb & electronic music. though concentrating it s tempo focus around the 170 mark exkursions will also be taking explorations down into slower soundscapes. the first release is a 3 tracker from soul intent and the tracks have already turned the heads of respected selectors including doc scott, presha, loxy and logistics. we won t say much for than that, we ll let the music do the talking.

trp005, i have a question , explores subtler and slower tempo variants on trips sonic signature than the tougher-sounding 004. in addition to another modular cut from nina kraviz, lets do it, and tracks by bjarki and population one (terrence dixon), trp004s k-hand (kelli hand), roma zuckerman and vladimir dubyshkin all return, while fred p and dommune s dj sodeyama both make their label debuts. kravizs edit of fred ps higher mentalism gets its official release following its appearance on her dj-kicks mix in early 2015. another highly anticipated stellar package to round off a seminal first year for nina kraviz trip label.

i first heard of julixo when i put my hands on his fantastic ep called silas released on rauh 005. after that, i kept a close eye on the sounds he was posting, and when i heard rebho, i knew we were going to do something together. the warm synth line, together with the jackin drum patterns, were perfect. then came reflections, which fitted superbly with rebho. although slower, and maybe more introspective, you still have that warm feeling going through the track. we decided to go with life of crime on the other side of the record. much more aggressive in its construction, that track deserved a side on its own: modern techno at its best. i hope you will enjoy this nice versatile release as much as i do! best regards, philippe petit

urgent 002 has landed! here again, deego fresh drops a couple of fresh & rolling stripped-back bombs just in time for the summer while the guys from odd dig in deep on b2 with a slower groove backed up with some serious percussion work. another superb release from urgent!

uber bring the new mushrooms project ep. a slight diversion for uber into the cosmic afro infused musical stylings that the mushrooms boys are masters. madrugada s tribal energy is reminiscent of tony esposito or tullio de picopo. the italian afrobalearic groove that we at uber love so much. the big boobs is a slower more contemplative track, still holding onto the percussive feel but with hints of the east. i suspect the title is influenced by last summers trip to the great outdoors in birmingham. finally we come to the epic musical journey that is african obsession. continuing the fine italian tradition of tribal dance music this is a tight superbly produced trip into afrocosmiche. 15 minutes of hypnotic beauty. uber hitting the spot again.

a made up sound returns to clone basement series with the third volume in his archive sequence, a strong and varied 4-tracker due out mid june. opener cheater vip is probably the most floor-ready offering here, from there on the ep gradually takes a more narrative turn, from the slower paced gravel stomp and soundtrack strings of funkstation to the emotive, off-kilter diptych us and them on the b-side.

classic arthur russell 7 inch from the depths of west ends vaults. timely remastered from the original tapes. this is a different version to the honest jons 12 inch released in 2003 with more moog bleeps and a slower tempo and has never been commercially available on vinyl (track run time 2:45). it also includes the uptempo freakout rare as hens teeth instrumental mix. original 7 inches going for up to £200 on discogs and only 12 people in the world showing they own a copy. this release never got passed promo stage at west end in 1980.

sam irl returns to jazz & milk with his latest *free two grow ep*, two years after his last solo release for the label (*slower bavarian ep*, 2012). he has continued to develop his sample- & analogue synthesizer-based music further, keeping things raw and warm at the same time. the ep starts off with the title track *free two grow*, an mpc live jam built around a hypnotic loop slowly developing into a heavy synth-driven deep house tune.

brilliant new balearic house ep from copenhagens music for dreams label. the opening track came to life when two danish djs - mads dalholt and zimino - made their own remixed version of al jawalas *go east* for playing out. mfd label head kenneth bager heard it, loved it, tested it out on his coma club dancefloor and it drove the crowd nuts with people literally screaming for more rewinds of this pumping horn-blasting oriental in-your-face party track. if you are a fan of acid arab and 80s leo mas/afredo style amnesia dancefloor madness then this one is for you. on side b we have the debut track from mads dalholt and partner landers - *zengo* is a sexy uplifting house groover with spacey keyboards, afro vocal hooks and a lively sax. followed by a second landers/dalholt cut, the slower more balearic *aelba* is built around a simple melodic guitar riff with some mellow xylophone bringing a warm sunshine feel. great debut for the young danes.

ltd 2014 repress !! jared wilson is keeping the acid alive in detroit. ghettoblaster is jareds second release on his label 7777. this love, is a slower deep track with haunting 303 bassllines and a a voice chanting this love. the title track, ghettoblaster is a jacking stomper for the floor. last two, is a very nice chicago influence acid beat track. our favorite is the intens this love with amazing 303 which sounds like aphex twin doing chicago house.

trulz & robin akatrulz kvam & robin crafoord return with sol and the names pays tribute to the sound. a very strong deep detrot influenced transmatesque electronic house, forward optimistic / euphemistic sun come out track, on b prins thomas sets a slower but less warm pace and gives it a non less positive balearic twist before froskelar goes way back to the main 4 2 the floor.

new yorker elliot taub graces this 8th kinfolk release with 3 trax of varying intesity. do that dance is an uptempo melodic bass and synth heavy dancefloor jam. thirteenth roll in a bakers dozen takes a slower spaced out route. 10 dollars conitnues in the same mode but this time with guitar and a super heavy synth line pushing the driving force along and finally soft rocks grab a hold of 10 dollars and turn it into a john carpenter-esque electro groover.

deep, moody, yet powerful techno from the reclusive perfectionist. myles come up with two deeper, slower, moodier minimalistic tracks, venturing in more house territory: *red eye to bogota* and *when i meet god*. both tracks go over 10 minutes during which myles slowly tweaks the rhythmic elements, basslines and chords for your aural pleasure. myles also delivers a more stripped-down uptempo techno track that we love him for, *transmilenio*: its full on repetitive bassline should for sure inflict some dancefloor damage.

hot city orchestra is a reformation of a band, which was originally formed in 1998. at the age of 17, arno völker (einzelkind) and simon birkenfeld became friends and started making drum and bass music together. they toured all over germany with their record label and had residencies at robert johnson in offenbach and tanzhaus west in frankfurt. after gaining years of experience within the breakbeat scene, arno went on to become einzelkind with releases on playhouse, cocoon, white and his own imprints la peña, jax and pressure traxx as well as worldwide dj gigs. simon was still focusing on his breakbeat career for another year, making an album with a uk drum and bass legend, but it was never released. he stopped making music and started focusing on his career in pr and marketing, where he mostly worked on music and art projects. during this time, the long-time friends arno and simon came up with the idea to launch the blog-network-project www.disco-very. net now, 16 years later, after making first beats together, the boys are back! a tiny bit older, much wiser, more handsome and around 50 bpm slower.

medical records presents two of the most striking and iconic reissues in its catalog. the lp though 2 years after since the accident continues to carry the torch illustrating the evolving transition between experimental structure and loops into the catchy pop hooks that would later define such releases as rotund for success. this lp seems to move slightly into darker territory in general with its synth textures and slower tempo tracks but overall has a nice continuation feel from since the accident yet with obvious technological evolutions.

when the aquaplano records were first released in 2008 and 2009, emerging out of hardwax with little fanfare, they were distinctly out of step with the way techno appeared to be heading. the minimal detour was reaching its logical endpoint, and producers were returning to the 1990s for inspiration, with berghain and sandwell district at the vanguard of a new techno movement. what the aquaplano sessions shared in common were slower bpms and finding inspiration in the 1990s, but there they parted ways. the influences these italians were drawing on were rather different, returning to tribal rhythms and ambient textures to sketch out a much more heady, psychedelic form of techno.

unclosed starts a new project with analog series. 10 references in premium vinyl format with the best underground world techno producers. only 300 copies from a 180gr vinyl made hand one by one. eduardo de la calle sign the first reference with two techno tracks in side a. underground techno detroit to headphones and dancefloor. in the side b, one techno dub track from tecknoise and one techno track from martin emit. the final label art is manually sticked in the vinyl by unclosed team. also, the vinyl colour amount and opacity is diferent in each one, then don�t exist two equal vinyls.

the fat dog label returns for its second outing with yet another confident four tracker designed for both the head and the feet. the proceedings begin with the sublime moonrunners. introducing contributions from new artist spooner, the production duo use their hardware to take us to the very craters with this bubbler of emotive deep techno with dissonant house touches, d link (fat dog & ny*ak) continues the basement feeling with urnogud4me, albeit at a slower tempo but still keeps the floor burning with an unsuspecting, intense voodoo-house mystery. this is raw club music. side b we head straight onto a greasy dance floor called werk. lush pads intermingle with breathy flute stabs while the building groove consistently nags attention from your feet. stop teases us back onto the slo-mo dance floor yet again with another scorching deep house groove for the hips with a subtle funk to be desired at the disco as well as the deep room. limited copies!

following the success of the consumer ep by fellow label owner james johnston comes the praise ep by alex agore, and its a true return to form for him on no matter what. the record opens with the title track >praise< - an inspired tribute to gospel music, keeping all the soul but reimagining it into something more infectious. uplifting keys combine with vocals that will have you trying your best to sing-a-long, over a bass groove that holds it all together. >falling< is a slower affair, with its dream-like chords, airy synthwork, cowbell hits and seamless hats. a perfect track to start a night or to end one. the b-side completes the package with two undeniable house jams. you will soon realise how much you like >theres no love< when its skippy vocal is stuck in your head, hours after hearing it for the first time. >i can feel you< closes out the ep on a deeper note which will have you thinking of moments when the sun is about to rise, yet the night is far from over.

andreas saag returns to local talk with a follow-up to his back to life ep, this time he has invited longtime friend and studio partner cazuma mori, together both of them offers the local talk fans house music with a distinctive production technique. >nostalgia< is a warm stomping basement beats floor-filler, with a fat bassline tempered by rising chord textures, smartly coordinated with the pulses in the track. both saag & cazuma showcases their skills in tackling slower bpms too. the b-side >cant hide it< comes with intricate keyboard work and deep atmosphere that is driven by an appealingly on-point house bassline. the track picks up a new elements at just the right moment to keep you on board the whole 8 minutes. there is no messin around here, just pure deep house from local talk.

medical records is ecstatic to present the reissue of the essential >novels for the moons< by axxess. originally released in 1983, axxess is the brainchild of french multimedia artist patrick mimran. mr. mimran was co-director of lamborghini motors (along with his brother) at the time and fittingly released the album on the imprint lamborghini records. heavily influenced by german electronic pioneers klaus schulze, tangerine dream, and kraftwerk, mr. mimran commissioned the german engineer andreas bahrdt to build a custom complex synthesizer which eventually materialized into a 16 voice analog synthesizer of genius proportions.

jason mouse is a veteran electronic music producer currently based in san francisco.he is regarded as one of the pioneers of drum n bass in the us and was initially signed to londonbased dubshack records. as a well respected bay area musician he was an active member of the phunckateck collective and released his productions in classic labels such as green label and sm:)e communications. he continues to collaborate with local prominent figures such as ufo! with whom he coauthored the late 2011 release comfort kills on subdepth records. as an artist up to speed with electronic music development and a vast experience jason mouse delivers his new release on la flaca recordings at slower tempo, invading 4x4 territory with evolving melodies, diverse textures, and drawing parallels from techno and house with a drum n bass aesthetic.
