milan based collective just this are proud to present the ‘absolute infinity ep’, a joint release from netherlands-based producers sinfol and octual. featured in this package are two remixes from gerd janson prescribing a heavy dose of acid. title track is a stripped back groove with a looping synth lead that wanders through ricocheting drums. for his first remix gerd muffles the framework of the original, making room for a floating melody and warm lead, whilst the ‘acid only’ version takes the components of the original and throws them into a bath full of acid. closing off the ep is ‘wire’, a moody dancefloor cut for the after-hours.

after a 20 year hiatus, seminal uk electronica / ambient techno imprint likemind records returns with lm05 holovr. holovr (jimmy billingham) has been building a steady fanbase over the last few years with amazing releases for firecracker recordings, opal tapes and his own indole label. his very personal brand of emotional electronica fits perfectly into the likemind stable, with two tracks of beautifully evolving ethereal pads and delicate 303 basslines, very reminiscent of early 90 s black dog or autechre. likemind aims to continue with its original ethos of only releasing the most heartfelt electronic music.

if you’re setting out on an epic voyage to the electronic disco universe, it pays to recruit an experienced pilot. when it comes to intergalactic musical fusion, few are quite as experienced as cosmic disco pioneer and noted dancefloor explorer daniele baldelli. produced alongside friend and regular studio partner dario piana, zero gravity cannily updates baldelli’s early ‘80s cosmic disco blueprint for the 21st century. we think that the ep contains some of his strongest music to date, with each of the three cuts offering subtle nods to the italian maestro’s original cosmic club ethos. a-side “infinity machine” expertly combines many of baldelli’s greatest musical inspirations into one mind-bending late night workout. underpinned by a druggy, arpeggio style bassline, the track rises and falls through waves of funk-rock guitars, crunchy clavinet lines and intertwined synthesizer solos. throw in jammed-out electric pianos, and you have a near perfect fusion of cosmic disco and blazed funk-rock. the producer’s long-held love of african rhythms surfaces on “if you drive”, where bold acid bass, ricocheting percussion hits and weightless chords combine beautifully with starry melody lines and vintage analogue synthesizer motifs. it’s afro-cosmic for the nu-disco generation. a fine ep is completed by “air lock”, in which baldelli and piana pepper a rubbery, electrofunk-influenced groove with cascading synthesizer melodies, swirling pads and a swathe of fuzzy, eyes-closed guitar solos. it’s bold and assertive, but also as otherworldly and stratospheric as you’d expect from a pioneer at the peak of his powers.

your silent faces second release – the first on his own label tethys records – continues the deep, brooding techno trajectory set by his first track on fiedeltwo, a place where arms bend backwards. title track red rain is urgent yet considered: subtle acid lines swirl and build against bright defined percussion while the bassline builds towards infinity. it reveals ysf’s inspirations from motorik music, early industrial bands like nitzer ebb and deep techno heroes including sandwell district and rrose.kleinian transform takes techno to a place where georgio moroder meets front 242 and basic channel, creating robotic space-tracks with dub disco melodies, insistent bassline and mighty crescendos. its a late night dancefloor track influenced by dj hell and francois k, but equally by coil and new order. scorched earth closes the red rain ep with a post–apocalyptic melancholy, a soundscape which nods to kraftwerk and boards of canada. this is the track ysf wants you to hear at the end of times, recalling the blistering winds of post-nuclear fallout: darkly spacious, with a questioning melody. the ep was mastered by keith tenniswood at curvepusher.

bottenvikans silverkyrka is a northern sweden congregation that preaches through their machine music: acid techno infused with the message of infinity in the tradition of the swedish revival movement. in their first release “det stora uppvaknanet” (the great awakening), bottenvikens silverkyrka distributes their faith and hope that more people will be saved and make their own acid revival meetings. there are tracks for the acid baptism, communion and for the dance revival.
