computor rockers return after the worldwide hit that was computor interface (brk49) with another showcase of exactly how electro should be put together. all too often retro can mean dull and uninspired (or just lame plagiarism), but anyone who has been following ed dmxs career over the last several years will know that really isnt the way he plays the game. instead he understands the value of songs and melody... the beats are fresh, without a doubt, but it will usually be the tune or the lyrics that will hook you into a dmx production, the elements that turn just another electro track into something unique and valuable. and so it proves here, from the classic computor shock (which helpfully comes in vocal and instrumental versions for those who just cant do the voice thing) to the melodic and hooky electro-funk of how we used to rock and distributed processing. stunning as always!

after a run of releases from more established artists, ed dmxs breakin records takes a step into the unknown with the debut single from norwegian jørgen indal , aka impakt . with a classic feel throughout, this ep runs the gamut of breakin styles from crisp electro, through to smooth spacey acid, through to drexciya-style techno-funk. indal is a young producer from trondheim who creates a wide variety of electronic music using ancient analogue machines and modern software instruments. you can hear detroit and cornish influences through the ep all polished up with impakts glacial sheen. tight uncluttered production from this new scandinavian talent, and dynamic mastering courtesy of matt ‘golden ears colton (planet mu, sandwell district, rekids, 20:20 vision) ensures that this release will cut through in any set

breakin returns with two new artists to the label, naibu hails from paris and has been causing a little stir for sometime, he has had releases on creative source, avalanche, subtle audio and horizons amongst others. here naibu utilises the boymerang break with beautiful atmospherics and haunting indian vocals.

breakin boss ed dmx supplies six tracks of freaked-out modular synth madness mangled through the macintosh into some weird high-velocity electrofunk. edmx is eds alias for the more hard and fast stuff, these tracks are experimental but with lots of sub-bass and high tempo beats with unusual grooves. edmx can be seen performing around the world, recently played in japan with breakin artists ceephax acid crew and also appeared this year at the bang face weekender, the bloc weekend party and will continue to play out globally throughout the summer

before there was dmx krew , there was 101 force , who released one 12 white label in the early90s on a small underground techno label called infrasonic . now, as acid turns once again, the time is right for 101 force to come back to the scene with the classic squelchy roland sounds you know and love from all those 88-89 classics - plus the uk psychedelic vibe that disappeared from 303 records after everyone started speeding up the tempo and using too much distortion
