after mukatsuku records summer hammond organ screamer from billy hawks (mukat 052) the label goes deep on an international funk tip. few years ago label manager nik played in france and the promoter pulled out a biosis now 45 that he never knew existed up till then and was generally thought to be a long album track only. an extensive search revealed nothing online including popsike/discogs/ebay except a tropical seller who d just bought a huge caribbean collection with the record included saying he d never seen it before either and he was keeping itâ&#128,¦failing to secure a copy themselves the label licensed it instead and created their own 45 edit which retains all the funk & soul of the elongated album version into a 7 inch friendly format. on the flipside and 1973 tumba safari from afro train get s a funky afrobeat re touch for peak time club play that would save you several hundred pounds on an original if you could actually find a copy !

otherworldly caribbean electronic dance floor cuts! arousing prog-zouk and abstract futurism from the french west indies by synthesist claude rodap, released on vinyl for the first time. huge tip! in the early eighties, a time where french caribbean musicians were searching for their own sound, claude rodap mixed traditional gwo-ka, bel air, biguine with synthetic sounds, resulting in magical, adventurous outcome. recorded in the nineties and in 2000, the dreamy, sensuous three tracks on beletronic are the deliberate result of more than a decade of his experimentation.

during the 1950’s american exotica exponents les baxter, martin denny and arthur lyman fused african and latin rhythms with caribbean and polynesian sounds to evoke the sonic equivalent of a tropical island paradise. this 3rd volume of britxotica examines how their english equivalents fuelled by the popularity of hit musical south pacific, attempted to create the same sun-drenched haitian ambience in rain-soaked, post-war london.

wolf dem is a live electronics duo from philadelphia, conceived in the fall of 2012 by two longtime djs who bonded over similar musical backgrounds and a mutual desire to explore the bleeding edges of electronic music. using drawing on a highly diverse range of influences, wolf dem grew from its original concept-what your dreams would sound like if you fell asleep in an old warehouse where someone had left a dancehall station playing on the radio- into a focused aesthetic, at once chaotic and hypnotic, sitting at the intersection of caribbean music, techno, noise, and field recordings. past releases include tracks for compilations on new low and great circles grcr-010, as well cassette releases for vague audio tapes and end result

four never before released or publicly available demo cuts from the writing sessions of craig peyton and jolyon skinner circa 1983-1985. the duo produced and wrote hits for artists in between working on their own projects. these songs survived the past 30 years on a cassette tape, which was lovingly transferred for this exclusive to peyton records release. after their short but fruitful collaborative period, peyton went on as a writer and band leader and skinner went on to have a career as a songwriter for pop acts such as joe, nsync, and freddie jackson. in the words of craig peyton: “jolyon skinner and i met in the early ’80s through our mutual friend keith diamond (the trinidadian producer of hits such as “caribbean queen” by billy ocean). after we met, jolyon and i started regular writing sessions at my nyc p-factor studio. our first break came in 1983 with howard johnson’s “let this dream be real-. that was followed up with “love of a lifetime” by melba moore and “where ya gonna be tonight” for will collins. after this we were offered a recording deal by april blackwood music, but due to my contract with profile records at the time we couldn’t accept it. shortly after skinner got signed to zomba and we stopped writing together around 1985.
