kicking off 2019 two tracks the first time on a 45 from prolific japanese producer dj mitsu the beats from the sendai hip hop group gagle and licenced from the jazzy sport organisation. mukatsuku put out two gagle 45s produced by dj mitsu back in 2008 so this is a welcome return to the label for the producer. a side kicks off with a dreamy jazzual affair featuring kaneko takumi on keys.on the flipside an excellent low slung jazz hip hop instrumental

mukatsuku kicks off the incoming autumn period with two delicious slabs of dreamy jazzual bliss from spanish artist and multi-talented musician marc friedli aka skymark. both tracks are presented here in a single form for the first time. “flying fantasy” is taken from the “resistance sonore” album on marc’s own label imprint modern sun from 2016 here in an exclusive instrumental version. on the flipside “rhodes e serenidade” is lifted from the “waves from the nucleus” long player from 2015.

after mukatsuku records summer hammond organ screamer from billy hawks (mukat 052) the label goes deep on an international funk tip. few years ago label manager nik played in france and the promoter pulled out a biosis now 45 that he never knew existed up till then and was generally thought to be a long album track only. an extensive search revealed nothing online including popsike/discogs/ebay except a tropical seller who d just bought a huge caribbean collection with the record included saying he d never seen it before either and he was keeping itâ&#128,¦failing to secure a copy themselves the label licensed it instead and created their own 45 edit which retains all the funk & soul of the elongated album version into a 7 inch friendly format. on the flipside and 1973 tumba safari from afro train get s a funky afrobeat re touch for peak time club play that would save you several hundred pounds on an original if you could actually find a copy !

as part of our 10 years anniversary mukatsuku is proud to release the holy grail instrumental long version co produced by tommy stewart of “brotherson” from atlanta usa resident ojeda penn.
there were two versions of the album “happiness” on the ife independent label. they looked almost identical but the first version contained the now rarer elongated jazz fused instrumental version of “brotherson” and then a few months later they recut the album with a much shorter version adding strings and vocals.
the former version is now being sold up to £500 so this 12” is a welcome release to the reissue market. according to mr penn this is the first time either version has been reissued officially and mukatsuku after many years of discussion is glad to finally be in a position to finally put out both versions on one phat 12”.

two tracks officially licensed and remastered and never before issued on a 45 before. taken from the self titled hungarian album from 1981 dimenzio’s “bamba” is jazz dancefloor monster in the true sense of the word and is a gilles peterson club classic. on the flip the lesser known “diamant” from french artist marius cultier and taken from the 1975 album “ouelele souskai”.

they sometimes say that perseverance will win the day in the end and this is what happened with the afro funk monster of *piani* from french african artist jo tongo that took several years of negotiation to bring to the fruition of a potential mukatsuku records release. from the haunting intro this is one tune that you will never forget after first listen as it tippytoes through an afrocentric funk /disco groove that will keep your dancefloor alight. on the flipside the joe bisso produced funk gem *rhythm on rhythm* from sookie gets an edit from label boss nik weston who trims, tucks and replays the funkier elements of the track with repeated breaks and lashings of brass stabs and wobbly bass lines.

the strictly vinyl only crusade continues with the forthcoming release from mukatsuku records in the shape of the string laden disco bomb real clothes from the japanese producer ryota nozaki under his jazztronik personna. nik has a long history with jazztronik after having compiled with jake benhan the jazztronik inner flight album back in 2001 for counterpoint records and having djd with the live jazztronik band and ryota as a dj several times in japan and uk over the last few years.

explosive double header with jazz trio j.a.m on the a side & some jazzual dance floor broken beats on the flipside from jazztronik. j.a.m are a three piece who take their name from the three members...josei (piano/keys),akita goldman(bass) & midorin(drums)who are all members of the japanese band soil & pimp sessions. their rendition of quiet fire takes influence from roy haines cover version but makes the track very much their own for an explosive & funked up jazz dancer from the start with those enormous keys that drive the track until the epic finish. on the flipside, jazztronik (the project of ryota nozaki)gets joined by shacho (also from soil & pimp sessions) for a jazz tinged broken beats workout with distinctive piano hooks that keep the momentum at a furious speed throughout.
