there are those records you like working on and then there are those records you love working on... this is one of those records we loved! we could not be more excited to welcome back to the camp, the beautiful, amazingly talented tamara wellons. along side her again on this journey at the helm is one of our favorite producers anto vitale that co writes and produces this project. the first time we laid ears on this single we knew what was in store for it, time to bring in the gang to put everyone to work and that we just did for this one. on the remix duties is the man in charge of the soulful movement dj spinna that gives us his signature deep vibes. if that was not enough we welcome back jose carretas that just murders his remix with just enough bounce for the clubs but keeps true to the deep house movement.next up is our good friend jonny montana that never strays from the true elements of deep house and gives us a mix that will be played for years to come with his timeless production. as we always say sit back relax and play this one loud!

dont be afraid present spargel trax, a two part series of vinyl-only, coloured, hand-stamped 12 inches designed to celebrate the dual themes of great seasonal music and great seasonal spargel. contributing tracks across the two 12 inchess are some of our favourite artists currently making house music. from established artists like disco nihilist, andy blake, sound species and james duncan to up and coming artists like david joseph from cologne, hodge from bristol, untitled-w from st. petersburg, for whom this is the first outing on wax, and scott fraser from glasgow. no clues though as to which is which, you?ll have to just listen to the tracks and hear for yourself! proof that 2012 is a great time for music, a great time for wax and a great time for spargel. spargel is very popular in the netherlands, spain, france, belgium, germany, and switzerland, and almost exclusively white. else, it is specified by the local language term for green asparagus. compared to the latter, the locally cultivated so-called white gold or edible ivory, also referred to as the royal vegetable, is less bitter and much more tender. freshness is highly regarded, and it must be peeled before cooking or raw consumption.

the title track on tychos long-awaited dive lp is just that — a ripple effect record that sounds like three songs in one, as if sound/graphic designer scott hansen just discovered progrock and decided to apply its winding passages to his own singular blend of sinewy synths and bleached beats. its also the first tycho song to feature a prominent guest musician, guitarist zac brown, in this case, who paints outside the lines of hansens halcyon hooks with restless rhythms and monorail-like riffs. the >dive< single fleshes things out even further, as keep shelly in athens and memoryhouse — both rising underground artists in their own right — cut hansens cloud-scraping composition in half and slow his cruise control chords down to a crawl. the misty vocal melodies are still there, but they are now floating through an embryonic assembly of jittery cicadas, rusty gears, and lean loops that are both welcoming and a bit woozy. the sonic equivalent of staring at the sun for too long, really, or two sides of the same cracked mirror.

we are happy to report, after a short hiatus ray mang and his incomparable mangled label are back! his recent disco deviance release was more than enough to remind everyone what they d been missing, but here we have a fresh new mangled release - filled to brim with rays unique take on lost classics.
mangled has been a benchmark for quality edits since the late 90s, and with renewed interest in dance musics heritage, ray has found himself back at the forefront of a scene he was instrumental in forming. having been behind a plethora of releases on cult nu-disco labels like noid, fiasco, u star, nuphonic, eskimo etc etc over the years he has cemented his reputation as an amazing producer in his own right as well a studio engineer extraordinaire for the likes of the idjut boys, glimmers & many more.

here comes the third release on new german label toy tonics. a label dedicated to all shades of modern outsider house music. this third one comes from fabulous mexico. by newcomers moon runner. formed by musicians alec sander a.k.a la royale and juan soto, who have been resident djs at mexico citys hottest clubs like rhodesia and mn roy for a few years now. they make deep, electronic funkhouse. the main track got already played by top producers such as space ranger and aeroplane (who used it on one of his recent podcasts)

vessel returns to left_blank with 3 tracks of mind bending house & techno for the labels 5th release. after inaugurating the label almost a year ago with his critically acclaimed nylon sunset ep, vessel aka sebastian gainsborough went on to release a sold out split cassette with fellow left_blanker el kid, and a stunning digital only set for a future without. as a result of this the all conquering tri angle records snapped him up in early 2012 to release his debut album. this eps title track standard spans the length of the a-side: 5 minutes of low-slung, smacked out death disco, coming over like john carpenter meets newworldaquarium, pure valium vibes. merge on the b-side is positively sprightly in comparison, all rattling and metallic before a drop at the halfway point brings a welcome dose of detroit influenced machine funk. zero closes the ep in abstraction, whirring and stumbling along while showcasing sebs intricate sound design, a teasing glimpse at what is in store for his album later in the year.

all nite ep is the young mancunian waltons second set on hyperdub, after his very well received walton ep debut for the label in 2011. title cut >all nite< kicks it off with warm plucked strings, diva moans and lazer-like synths stretched to the point of anticipation over cracking grime handclaps and bass drums, until the track drops into a blocky bass line playing hide and seek with low arpeggios that spiral in and out of the mix, over a giant pounding metallic kick drum before layering on the warmth again. the whole track plays with a fine balance between warm, disco-like lushness and exuberant roughness. >mallet< is driving and darker, building detuned, bell-like tones over a 4/4 beat accented by breaks and fills and gaps, dropping into a big bass line and syncopations that disrupt the beat and bring the drama. >kush< is different again, taking the pace down with low end, synth hip hop with glassy chords, running over woozy pitch shifting rhodes chords fed through a layer of crackly gauze.

to complete the current run of samurai releases we present a 12 inch from lynx (detail recordings / soul:r), an artist we have always admired. lynx is a true individual who’s style can never be compared to anyone else, the kind of producer we like to work with. after hearing our first release on samurai horo, he approached us with these 2 tunes and we instantly knew he shared our vision. both sides are unique and stylistically adventurous like few others in the 170 bpm construction business. dj support from dj hype, laurent garnier, jubei, loxy, spectrasoul, john b and more.

hinter dem namen human dont be angry steckt mit malcolm middleton ein altbekannter schotte - ob auf solopfaden oder gemeinsam mit aidan moffat als arab strap. auf seinem gleichnamigen album finden sich neun tracks. insgesamt erwarten den hörer knappe 47 minuten pure brillianz, was sonst ist zu erwarten? ob man dabei von einem instrumental-album mit gelegentlichen vocal-tracks oder von einem vocal-album mit gelegentlichen instrumental-songs sprechen soll, bleibt jedem selbst überlassen. was wir aber mit sicherheit wissen, ist, dass malcolm selber von einer kreuzung aus jan hammer und iron maiden spricht.

the music of barcelonian producer mistakes are ok is quite a mystery for us. its strange, adventurous and enigmatic, impossible to define with genres or styles. maybe thats the reason why we like it so much, or maybe its simply that we find it utterly captivating... incl rmxs from kassem mosse, downliners sekt, bnjmn....

for the fourth ep on austere, irelands slowburn are welcomed into the fold. having impressed us with releases on uzuri and elektrosouls this ep will not disappoint fans of the label to kick things off we have the the hustle which sounds like something that prescription forgot to release back in the day! next up is broken document which delivers lovely warm analogue chords and pads interlaced with an 808 groove. the b-side starts off with do it using various samples to great effect to culminate in a unique deep house sound. finishing things off in much the same territory is from another angle which again brings the warm chords and pads, but also brings to the table some really delicate synth lines to create a surreal effect.

jeremy greenspan, best known as the singer for junior boys, presents his debut solo productions on caribou/daphnis jialong label. apparently the first of a few 12 inches for greenspan this year, this 1st edition is a stripped-down disco dedication. a-sides >crown princess< works with a paucity of elements - hi-hat/kick pattern and trickling, silvery arpeggios with a clear streak of jbs melodic magic. flipsides >guu< is more experimental, sounding something like a berghain residents offbeat b-side reduced for more hypnotic indie/disco appeal. another good twelve from this limited imprint - get in while you can.

our second vinyl release 2012 introduces a new series, the bias jams, on ilian tape. we start off with a compilation of 4 tracks from japan, serbia, argentina and italy. after some internal investigations we found out that imugem orihasam is not only a japanese shaolin, but also a yoga guru. his bias cut sounds like an instruction for a deep meditation in a forest. we chose a forest, because forests need to be saved. too many black puffs of vapour are killing them at the moment. our late riser regen probably didnt had that a mind, but we declare him to be an environmental activist from now on. now how should we include paper tape in this story … had a look online and found the term perforated paper tape. pretty interesting stuff, it was one of the first methods for data storage. ok are you guys joking? orbital? there is no way to write a good story with those track names. >an atomic orbital is a mathematical function that describes the wave-like behavior of either one electron or a pair of electrons in an atom<. yeah right! well in fact its enough to know that the bias jams series will feature some heavy bomboclaat bias cuts from various artists! cheers

following releases on mathematics, boxfade and vuzkid, chris moss acid returns with an extraterrestrial four tracker on holland’s 030303. the a-side features bay of cadiz, an eleven minute cut built around an hypnotic bass line and a simple hitchcockian synth that would do well in a horror movie featuring zombies with smiley faces. on the flip, lynchette matravers is an energetic, crystal clear banger reminding of early 808 state. the big freeze sounds a lot warmer than the title suggests and should please anyone into afx’s later output. the rhythm, the fourth and last track on the ep, continues on that vibe with beautiful synth work. chris moss may look like a nutter, this sure is serious sonic pleasure

transmissions from the cyber dance imprint have been sporadic since its inception in 2005, but when they arrive they are always something very special indeed. ostensibly one of italo discos great lost producers, we suspect that bandidos gang may well be a nom de plume for one of the labels many associates. whatever their provenance, the tracks certainly sound like vintage italo, with >marinche< leading with a pulsating bass arpeggio and synth horn melody worthy of moroder, whilst the flemming dalum & steen gjerulff remix adds layers of vocoder and a variety of cosmic accents to its sturdy frame. >last train to tucamari< meanwhile takes a more languid approach, pulling in an opposite direction to the speeding train samples, whilst flemming dalum & mike saltas remix adds some guitar licks, hazy synth atmospherics and even a flute solo which just adds to the classic italo feel.

along with massive attack and tricky, portishead was part of the bristol triumvirate that popularized triphop in the early nineties, especially in america. but what made them stand out was their added elements of cool jazz, acid house and soundtrack samples to their slow, elastic beats, creating an atmospheric and seductive sound that appealed to a broad audience. in 1998, when they realized that fans were swapping bootlegs of their live shows like crazy, portishead decided to capture a unique performance.
>roseland nyc< was a one night stand of sorts at the new york city roseland ballroom, where geoff barrow, adrian utley and beth gibbons were joined by the 35-piece new york philharmonic orchestra. these new arrangements gave a new sense of dramatic tension, and in the process they created one of the most breathtaking albums of the genre.

the magic of classic house music has always lain in the way it finds a soul in the machine, eking warm organic sounds from cold circuitry. and tracks dont come much warmer or more organic than >oranges<, a glorious eight-minute slow-burner thats the second single from wolverhampton producer mark es 2011 release stone breaker. >oranges< is a track that demonstrates how the simplest of ingredients — a quietly insistent four-to-the-floor rhythm, an understated bassline, synth pads that sound like the first intimations of a balearic sunrise — can combine to create something remarkable. anyone who has got the cd/digital release of stone breaker, of course, will know this already — but this release is the first chance to own this track on vinyl, as it was absent from the albums lp release. on the flipside is a remix of >oranges< by mark e himself: the appropriately-named space dub, a lindstrøm-esque reworking that transports the track from the dance floor to some distant orbit, drifting through space on a wash of lambent fuzz-toned synths. as different as they are, both tracks share a sense of both space and intimacy, a mellow charm that is evocative and inclusive. a soul in the machine.

kaiserdisco are more often in the air than on the ground so we are lucky to gets this one from them in time! two brand new tracks out of the kaiser küche. >semiramis< has the bongos bouncing high and vocals racing in… this is a polyrhythmic and true irresistible: kaiser-tune! the kaisers once again take you by the hand and lead you to a land of tropic dance fever and continue their exploration of funky beat constructions that will put fire to every dance floor in town.

where the river turns black, is the first international album by copenhagenresident and musician katrine ottosen aka call me kat. call me kat are adorably intense and mesmerizing songs, an enchanting melancholic, almost translucent drift into this sonic world best described as alternative pop, music that gives spoken word of the ever expanding danish music scene of now. songs that adapt a fine line between organic instrumentation and that very specific sound of her voice, which although completely its own tends to remind at times on other playful ladies in music like bjørk, feist oder lykke li.earlier works with reknown producers valgeir sigurdsson (bjørk, mum, sigur rós etc.) or joe magistro (prophet omega) on the current album have certainly had their share on this.

sebbo is the probably most successful dj from würzburg. started djing in the late 80ties he hosted two radio shows, released on different labels like planet vision, federation of drums or liebe-detail. he played at the top locations and events worldwide like mayday, tresor, supermarket, space, loveparade or nature one and now gives his debut oncircle music with his production. anyway.

oskar offermann is the boss of berlin based label white. you know their quality deep house output. title track on a side is a good mixture of early new york house sound and nu school german deep house sound. if you are following the release of smallville or laid, you will like this song. on b side, >technicolour dreams< on b 1 is more detroit house manner, it is rough and tough. b2 is a dj-tool version of a side.

gerardo frisina goes back to the roots of the sound which has made him famous worldwide: the latin sound of classics like >descarga< or >the latin kick< (both previously released on schema). >moderno primitivo< is an ep about the encounter of the ancient afro-cuban tradition (the core of frisinas artistic dna) with a refined electronic taste. this component enriches drums and percussions and gives more edge to the whole production with details like pads and effects. in >moderno primitivo< the latin ensemble headed by frisina takes us into a jam session where percussions, piano and trombone play happily. the latin house mix is a club version where the rhythmic element and the groove take control of the mix. the melody is broken and a hammond plays over a ostinato bass. the flavour is definitely tribal. >cogele el ritmo< is a trip into frisinas latin world. slower than >moderno primitivo<, still has a solid hook to the dance-floor and is a triumph of joy and colour.

next up on the much hyped local talk label from stockholm comes a straight up house burner from polish dj and producer tanzlife. with a combo of soul drenched vocal samples and jackin electronic house theories tanzlife has got a big club winner ready to drop. the ep delivers two outstanding tracks entitled heart attack and cold fire, both with a seriously classy house feel that really hits the spot if you have been a fan of local talks previous releases. even before the tracks were signed to local talk they gained support from such diverse djs like claude von stroke, dj ionik (traveller rec) and dairmount (room with a view). local talk is talking to you!

philadelphia producer king britt has dusted off his analogue machinery for 3-tracks of sci-fi indebted synth work. hyperdub present a brilliant and subtle curveball courtesy of phillys finest, king britt, in his new guise as fhloston paradigm. built from drum machines, analogue keyboards and 303s, and edited in the computer, these three lean and mean tracks have an unadorned feeling that build on hyperdubs love for old john carpenter style electronics, combined with dr patrick gleasons ear for the abstract, and bouncy drum machine syncopation that sounds like they are aiming for an alternative present where analogue synths are still king.

its a great honour for us to be able to present conrad schnitzlers last work. only a few days before he passed away last august, he created this unique, almost 70 minutes long work. 36 parts mixed into each other create a walk through his entire work. this record is not only for fans of conrad schnitzler. its like a trip through 40 years of electronic music. conrad schnitzler once more shows how strong his influence has marked young artists like emeralds and oneohtrix point never. wihtout his solo works and his projects kluster, tangerine dream and eruption electronic music wouldnt be the same. the tracks on the vinyl edition are in the order sides a,c,b,d. this allows you to make your own mix of this big work.

our favorite portuguese artist >johnwaynes< is back with two summer feeling songs. a side,>papiro< is afro brazillian unique house track and b side,>like the sunshine< is electro boogie track with male vocal(like prince). please also dont miss their excellent release on lets get lost(vol.7&8).

12 inch album sampler from taken from hervas debut album meanwhile in madland will leave you literarily astonished!! a1 tech house bomb be like me, comes exclusively on vinyl as well as the deep & hypnotic dj nature remix!! meanwhile in madland is a work of rhythmic seduction and deep breath, with a relatively restricted, yet very distinctive canvas of sounds, digging into different genres, providing a refined and enchanting result. on this sampler youll also find triangle, an electorid trancey uk funky track prooving our youngster is reactive and prepared to the most recent floor developments. soul crash, is a spiritual electro-funk track with the right dose of angelic singing and charming keys, bringing back your memory to aphex twins selected ambient works volume i. the sampler story ends up with the sensual male-female singing interaction of breathe!

the new ep from memoria comes from fast-rising romanian producer vid whose previous outings have come on labels including fear of flying and barraca music. vid (vidum) aka sorin rastoaca is a producer obsessed with nature and organic sounds. his latest release >rebirth<, is stripped but not light on feeling, and mines a vein somewhere between deep house and minimal techno. etime is a fluttery, eerie cut that works on many subtle layers. like the feathery minimal percussion of villalobos, the romanians sounds present like flapping butterfly wings as a kick drum punches out a varied pattern below. poem is a little louder and bolder, with a firm rolling kick drum and drunken, wubby sounds running right through its core. plenty of sonic details flesh out the languorous but slightly tribal groove. rebirth is again about little tiny details and how they evolve with time, but the framework they inhabit this time is deep, late-night house with gentle tinkles on keys coming over like a fluttering candle in the dark. 3729 gets its head down and mines a shifty, itching and tight minimal groove, closing out an ep which shows vid to be a master of working minimum sounds into maximum effects.

nice price deal !!! patiently waiting for the year of the dragon to commence, nick chacona & anthony mansfield are finally back with a 3 track ep of epically mental proportions! hector works numero uno duo take on a true journey to house music neverland with the peter vs pan ep. almost two and half years in the making, the boys reveal their many facets of cosmic, sleaze disco and acid wonk. one the a side, pan vs peter is a tech funk heavy slow house burner, that shimmers with dubbed out guitar, thumps with low end and grooves the like the funk brothers at opium afterhours. think vacum boogie meets silver connection and you are almost there. starting off the b-side is the eps title track peter vs pan and its right out the gate ncam drunkhouse maddness. a timeless disco house groove with a bassline so big that we were certain that it was gonna blow out the lathe and never actually get cut (thankfully mastering made sure that didnt happen :). and to round things out, the boys get hard on the acid house tip with terrys nightmare, an ode to the grouchiest bartender at peter lugers steakhouse in brooklyn ny.
