long waited 4th ep from japanese deep house force pan records is here. unlike precious releases, this is volume 1 of its various artist sampler series. all 3 of them are scheduled to be released in 2012. first track to open the series is >flash back< by sai. this japanese producer has been favored and debuted from morris audio in 2010. the track has dreamy and floating feel to start off with, later it gets more grove going with subtle vocal goes behind. stays musical yet feels minimal, a2 also kept the vibe from a1 and makes you stay in the dreamland. it is by only the non-japanese artist on this wax, dennis uprock aka resoe from denmark. he is the owner of baum records and one half of the duo >pattern repeat< and this rather timeless track exactly demonstrated his years of experience in producing. >future progress<, is true and honest to its name. dj pi-ge is one of the owner of the label along side of ryo murakami and sisi. he provides a track with punchy synth and revered black man’s vocal. notably slow teasing build up from the beginning till the end, this is an interesting addition to the ep. attention grabbing. last of all, >rising moon< is by tokyo based artist naoki shinohara, previously released from xdbs metrolux music. this track can be described by strong hart beat like hi hats and soul filling melody. its a perfect closer to this quality deep house ep from the land of rising sun.

i was finishing up a long extended set in paris when the cleckcleckboom crew practically ran into the club to get on the decks. i had hung out with them before but tonight they had all new tracks and an incredible energy. so i stayed past the last ravers just to hear what they would play and that was when i heard “hugz” by french fries and bamabounou. this was a new sound, some nasty nasty shit sitting somewhere between juke and bass music and and i knew we had to get this sound on dirtybird no matter what. needles to say “yo vogue” is hot property and i’m really excited to release it on dirtybird. the half time drop, the chopped and screwed vocal, the stuttering bass kicks, the creepy moog on top - it’s simple and complex at the same time and it wrecks shop whenever it gets played. i did a remix on the b side giving it some db flavor and dirtybird newcomer leroy peppers lays out his own bay area skeeze with hot sauce on top. watch yer bass bins! best, vonstroke.

simon bakers debut album traces saw the london based producer record a superb, honest reflection of his influences and took his deep house sound into a long playing format that was critically acclaimed across the board. let me in was one of two tracks that featured vocals from debukas that were highlights of the album, and it returns in original album version and with an excellent remix from lee curtiss. lee curtiss is currently riding high after great releases on spectral sound and get physical, an excellent cd compilation for watergate and as part of the visionquest collective. his version is a remix in the truest form, he treats the original with respect, but twists and turns it very much into his own track, perfectly fine tuned for club sets and soundsystems. this combined with the awesome original provides another essential simon baker and 2020vision collaboration

in 1986 steve earles new brand of country-rock music was taking nashville by storm. his debut album >guitar town< topped the billboard country album charts, as did the single with the same title.
influenced by bruce springsteen (who was earles eureka!) and townes van zandt (after whom he named his firstborn), this was one of the strongest & most confident debut albums released in the 80s.
he showed an angry literacy, a dark sense of humour & a street-smart snarl that was uncommon amongst his country counterparts and made him stand out amongst the crowd. but he was also ostracised because of his anti-vietnam stance & long hair.

the new leena welcomes an artist who rise through the ranks of the dj elite has been swift, purposeful and striking. starting out as a promoter and label manager, nicole moudaber booked huge acts for her soundworx nights at londons legendary turnmills club alongside running southeast recordings, but it wasnt long before she started to produce herself. flawlessly carving out her very own edgy house and tough, soulful techno sound, her music was instantly picked up by the worlds leading tastemakers including carl cox, john digweed and pete tong. a residency in ibiza playing alongside carl cox at his weekly night followed, as well as requests for guest mixes on both his and john digweeds internationally syndicated radio shows. her releases have received just as much praise as her dj performances.

after i heard enol s beautiful track white mango on initial cut, i felt the need to reach out. i had a long and friendly conversation with matthieu (enola) about our musical background and agreed on the fact that we both have a weakness for pop music and early detroit techno, and quickly came to the conclusion that something with a little pop would be perfect for the label. enola came to us with >slow motion< featuring the vocals of will caulfield. its something different for enola, and something different for us, deep techno pop, perfect for 5am! enola is the new project of french dj matthieu monnin, who used to be part of the techno outfit noirdegout. matthieu now works on his own, finding his niche in melodious techno, taking inspiration from the sounds of the nineties. he has done work with the likes of rodriguez jr, anoraak, and arno gonzalez, and now he joins correspondant with >slow motion<. on the flip side, nhar, the other half of correspondant turns the darkness into light with for me, his best remix to date. if the original is for 5am, nhars remix is for 5pm, when the sun still shines and its warmth still remains.

a product of his surroundings, wasserfall creates organic, electronic music using an array of tools - including a nord modular g2x, a roland tr 909, a roland sp 404 sampler & an apogee ensemble – but dont think for one minute that its all about the gear, and that he is just a technical producer. field recordings feature heavily in his work, and you can often find him patrolling the streets of oslo or berlin hunting for the perfect sound that will convey his ideas within the piece. anders is just as at home creating scores for film as he is producing rhythms for the dance floor, during his time in berlin he created a contemporary soundtrack of the old russian silent-fim classic a man with a movie camera (dziga vertov 1929) which was performed live in berlin, bremen and in bergen. after all this is said and done, the e.p boils down to just one thing - house music for the heads. nothing lightweight, just the heavy goods. long time coming on vinyl, dont miss out on the result of a year of work getting it just right, if you managed to bag the previous #gcw vinyl you know we take absolute pride in our output. a strictly limited pressing. mastered to 180g vinyl by the one & only john dent @ loud mastering.

after long years of work the author of unique and successful albums shallow and profound (2000) & splendid isolation (2005) is back with his new long-player, passive control, which is considered to be the third, closing part of the trilogy. passive control is another typical contradictory, multilayered yonderboi title that can be explained in different ways. one of them refers to the constantly changing and unpredictable economical/social situation of today, which is witnessed by most of us inertly, hoping that this recession-thing gets sorted out soon.
