on the mean streets of chicagos infamous southside, a music pioneer was born… dj slugo, born thomas kendricks, is most famous for his influential and fundamental position as the original king of ghetto house. with 20+ years in the game, over 20 albums in his pocket and over 50 cds on the street, began a journey that lead him to become one of the original creators of a style of music commonly known as ghetto house, more recently regarded as juke.

second reference of the spanish label sinerec. this time the hand of german quantec, momentarily abandons those atmospheres characteristics and leads to a more usual forceful style. a very clean and not too much saturation in style chords. spaces warm and very danceable. music definitely cheerful and very valid. with the chemist makes a turn to the more techno sounds where the baseline takes an important character in the composition of the track. depth flotation and lets get wasted, down a bit of character and are ideal companions in the suitcase of a dj for their musicality and cadence that will make sure, wonders on the dance floor.

keeping in line with the trademark birdsmakingmachine sound, comes the fifth release on their self-entitled label, bmm 004. with a more straight-to-the-point approach than its predecessor, the ep starts off on the dance floor, with rumbling bass lines and heavy metallic snares juggling with effects-laden delicacies on the a1s >ahora vengo<. the arrival of >ash but not arthur< on the a2 calms things down bit and takes the listener for a gentle journey through ambient pads and cleverly swinging hi hats, while on the flip, things get a little more bouncy in >oscars critical jack<, which is mostly due to the fact its main ingredient – the solid playful bass line – blends effortlessly with the higher frequency spices, keys, strings and rhythmic parts. the end credits roll down with >bonfume<, another relatively smooth yet jacking swinger that could either be used to kick it up a notch in a warm-up set or be danced to while finding yourself at an afterhour.
