baiano & os novos caetanos was a band formed by prolific and multi-talented brazilian comedians chico anysio and arnaud rodrigues. satirising brazils tropicalia movement in the 1970s, the duo took a friendly crack at the likes of caetano veloso and psychedelic rockers novos baianos, with their righteous tropicalista alter-egos �baiano and �paulinho boca de profeta poetically denouncing the dictatorship while simultaneously mocking those who took themselves too seriously. jazz funk legends azymuth play backing band with keyboard maestro jose roberto bertrami also responsible for the arrangements on the album. azymuths free and funky psych sounds combine with accordion, harmonica, brass and plenty of rural brazilian rhythms, for a hugely varied album drawing on mpb, funk and soulful samba rock. the album also features orlandivo who co-wrote many of the songs, and renowned multi-instrumentalist and producer durval ferreira.

fresh on francis harris kingdoms imprint comes rasmus junckers �ophold - six tracks of sublime atmospheres and textures. the danish musician, sound composer and dj fits perfectly with the labels aesthetic, joining the dots between ambient, leftfield electronica and modern classical. juncker has a background in studying jazz drumming and has been playing improvised music within the jazz domain for many years. he also started to dj at the age of 14 and was introduced to the world of electronic music production at the same time. when rasmus started to think about his debut album he spent several months trying to find his own way to combine his favourite musical influences, improvisation, electronics and classical music. almost a year later, juncker says, i went to a sensory deprivation floating tank in copenhagen while researching for another performance and while i was lying there, floating in the water, deprived from most of my senses, i got the idea to do something drastic in my musical process. philosophers like immanuel kant describe this deprived state as a mental cesura, which became some sort of guideline for the album.

colin potter is a sound engineer and musician currently based in london. he has worked within the fields of electronic and experimental music for over 35 years, collaborating with the likes of current 93, the hafler trio, organum, andrew chalk, and most notably as a key part of nurse with wound alongside steven stapleton. he started the esteemed icr (integrated circuit recordings) label in 1981 releasing a clutch of wonderful home recordings of his own, over half a dozen small run cassette only releases. �the where house?� was recorded in 1981 at ic studio, a converted wash house in sutton on the forest in north yorkshire. the album was self-released on cassette that same year via icr. this expanded double lp edition features all 13 tracks from the original tape on vinyl for the first time plus 4 bonus tracks. �the where house?� is a prime example of early uk post-punk/industrial electronic music. �combining dub, electro, and krautrock rhythms with psychedelic, kosmische noise in multiple mutations ranging from almost pop-wise songcraft to horizon-scanning motorik flights,� says boomkat. most of the damage was done by colin using guitars, synths, sequencers, drum machines, percussion, and modified toy keyboards with fairly primitive 4-track recording equipment. he was assisted on some of the tracks by stephan jadd-parry (guitar, percussions), jon caffery (guitar, bass, e-bow, percussion) and nick jackson (synth). all songs have been remastered for vinyl by george horn at fantasy studios in berkeley. the record is sleeved in a replica of the original cassette artwork by jonathan coleclough. every copy includes a double sided postcard insert with notes from colin.

yagyas rigning album from 2009 is the icelandic producer s most acclaimed dub, techno and minimal masterpiece. due to popular demand, delsin are now re-issuing it across three slabs of vinyl. previously only available as a double pack with eight tracks, the new re-mastered version features all 10 of the tracks from the original cd. gumundsson has been making music for years both solo and as part of the thule musik collective. he is an album specialist who has worked as yagya since 2002 and has put out six albums since then. they come on labels like force inc and sending orbs where rigning was first released and manage to be both absorbing and detailed yet suitable for relaxing background listening. his last two albums, sleepygirls (2014) and stars & dust (2016) appeared on delsin records. rigning is essentially one long track split into movements. it depicts a city sleeping as gentle rain falls and dubbed out grooves zone you out. yagyas style is always patient and slow burning, his grooves are long and drawn out and his pads reach up into the heavens. this whole album in coated in a warm fuzz and is a real comfort on dark, long, cold nights. as insular and melancholic as it is, there is also plenty of beauty in the melodies and delicate keys. from dark and gloomy to more optimistic and meditative, there is a sophistication throughout this always cinematic album that continues to make it stand out nearly a decade after it was first released.

the new ep by german duo grandbrothers is a collection of remixes and re-interpretations of their standout track bloodflow. the remix by uk producer lone was introduced last autumn but theres brand new tracks to be found here by german techno electronic vanguard christian löffler, everyones favourite new idm producer brainwaltzera and new permanent vacation signing aera grandbrothers are the sum of unique parts: progressive swiss engineer/mechanic/sofware designer lukas vogel and german-turkish pianist erol sarp. their second album open twins sarps piano skills with vogel�s talent for both building the homemade intricate mechanics with which he exploits his partners instrument and also designing its software. sarp works at his ivory keyboard while, from behind his own computer keys, vogel live-samples his partners notes, triggering further effects with the aid of diy electronic apparatus that physically manipulate the pianos strings and body.

weapons of mass destruction was one of the last eps by nur jaber , which is best known in berlin for its residence at the techno-matinee staub . this could be heard slammender, dry techno with sometimes disturbing vocals � hope sounds different. more precisely: hope sounds like the first longplayer of the native lebanese. if only � a state of peace still carries a conditional in the title, but the music on the nine tracks speak very directly of a better world. inspired by the herbaceous-cosmic sound of the berlin school, ambient and ambient techno in all its facets and the friendlier side of the artificial intelligence tradition, the osf unites-mit operator on their debut album a variety of styles, which are translated into an equally sensible as multi-layered narrative. peace, that would be something for a change.

real name takeshi fukushima, takecha has been a key figure within japan�s electronic music scene for decades and belongs to the same pioneering crew as soichi terada and shinichiro yokota. now in his mid- fifties, �deep soundscapes� is an album encompassing fukushima�s sound with every track written by the producer between 1990 and 2013. intricate percussion and crystalline chords set the tone in �deep drive� before a funky bassline joins serene synths in �midnight things�. appearing in soichi terada�s mix for resident advisor (under its promo title �deep loop c�), �gradual atmosphere� is comprised of a galloping beat and saccharine chimes, �factory 141� sees takecha demonstrate a murkier aesthetic, whilst �rhodes detox� is a definitive example of takecha�s flair for expertly balancing elements within his productions. an homage to shufflepuck cafe&#769,,, an old mac plus video game takecha would play on a black and white 9- inch monitor back in the day, �shufflepuck� blends ghostly melodies with clicks, whirrs and pops. �calm imagination� is a poignant affair from start to finish with its hypnotising atmosphere, contrasting to the more up-tempo �warm rondo� with its soulful keys and purring low-end. tying it all together, �genuine innocence� is a cut that takecha made two versions of, one with a solo from a pianist and another with more emphasis on the beat, the latter of which appears on this album.-

stephen malkmus und seine band haben in über 17 jahren 6 alben veröffentlicht und sich auf unzähligen touren zu einer konstante der us-amerikanischen indie-rock-landschaft entwickelt. auch auf seinem siebten album, �sparkle hard�, zeigt malkmus keinerlei kreative ermüdungserscheinungen, sondern bietet klassische stephen-malkmus-songs mit unwiderstehlicher subkultureller strahlkraft. schon 2015 begann malkmus mit der arbeit an �sparkle hard�. damals gönnte er seinem heimstudio ein technisches update, kaufte elektronische drums und arbeitete gleichzeitig an der musik für die netflix-serie �flaked�, für die er unter anderem den song für den abspann schrieb. alle demos für �sparkle hard� wurden an einem tag im april 2017 aufgenommen und nur einen monat später zusammen mit den jicks in portland im neuen studio halfling aufgenommen. letzteres gehört dem the decemberists-multiinstrumentalisten chris funk, der �sparkle hard� auch produzierte. als gast konnte malkmus kim gordon (sonic youth) gewinnen, die mit ihm das duett für den song �refute� einsang. limitierte silberne heavyweight lp mit zweiseitigem insert und mp3-downloadkarte.
