a continuation of his kaleidoscopic sun-dappled cosmic-disco, neon leon was the much-loved cd-only album by sorcerer (californian dan judd, one half of windsurf with hatchback). just in time for spring/summer, be with records present the first ever vinyl issue. lovingly remastered by the esteemed simon francis, cut reassuringly loud on to heavyweight double vinyl and presented in a deluxe gatefold jacket with freshly commissioned artwork throughout from original designer rich robinson, this limited edition of 500 copies is sure to fly.
sorceror s dream season defines the dreamtime sound even further with it s journeys through psyched out space surf sounds with disco grooves.5 tracks dreamed from a moody moment in time and space, to the tape head in the berkley arena in san francisco.
after the success of their first release, dsc – far reaching/too hard, holding hands is back with their sophomore outing and as before it is taking no prisoners. inspired by a nicolas lutz set as he warmed up fabric for villalobos a couple years back, the furnace has a break beat that will push the subs of any club to the limit. with every build and drop it increases in momentum until you are left with no choice but to throw down on the dance floor with unbridled passion. the furnace may be all about the big beat but it is no one trick pony. the tune has a depth and weirdness to it that will certainly keep you coming back for more… the sorcerer is a collaboration with good friend of dsc’s, guava. it is made up largely of recorded percussion and vocals at dsc’s studio in south london, which gives it a very special swing on the dance floor. the track lulls you into a false sense of security for the first third before finally letting the big freakiness out of the box. this is one for any dj that wants to leave clubbers going nuts and scratching their heads at the same time. both tracks are produced and sculpted for the club. they want big sound systems and dark rooms. close your eyes, hold hands and experience transcendental space flight…
welcome to the second release on a new record label, real balearic. we are record label based in ibiza and london. we were set up by the team who brought you the world famous real ibiza series of compilations and released the very first cafe del mar compilation. we are passionate about music and in particular music with a thread that runs to the musical sounds of ibiza and the balearic islands. whilst we may chill out with the best of them it is not what we are all about. balearic techno, balearic disco, ambient soundscapes, classical interludes, sun-drenched chords, sunset grooves, moon-washed rhythms, and just about anything that grabs us.
is it balearic bring the heat with a stunning release from sorcerer. the first track is zulu honda. skipping thick drums and a bouncing bass overlaid with nu med guitars and beautiful synth lines. this track is made for pool parties and lofts. the second track is afro vibes a more atmospheric percussive groove. maribas throbbing bassline and slightly melancholic guitars eventually make way for a subtle acid accent before returning to the groove.. salins jockey club remix zulu honda adding some lovely elements while holding the original feel. top draw from the dependable iib crew
island rescue marks the first release from san franciscos dan judd under his sorcerer alias in three years. with this release on new diskotopia sub-label a kind of presence, sorcerer fuses his trademark californian balearic sound with influences gleaned from 70s afro-funk tapes for three new original tracks, backed up by myakkah and greeen linez remixes. strong support has been coming in for the release from the wire (who have played tracks from the release on their rewired radio show), spin magazine (who featured an exclusive stream of the release with a feature), jon tye, gold panda, magic touch, the beat broker, ben cook (fucked up, yacht club) and many more.
following up from the well received neon leon album from summer of 2009, here tirk presents a trio of fine remixes, first up is richard norris in his psychedelic guise for the time & space machine mix, next up is the special extended edit of label favourite tom findlays sugardaddy project, closing up the vinyl package is a marathon 10 minute plus affair from bearfunk regular max essa.
>white magic< is the debut album from california native daniel saxon judd, aka sorcerer. this 12inch is a sampler for the album. influences on the sorcerer sound include disco, early electronic music (tangerine dream etc.), 80s electro-pop, psychedelia, kraut-rock and 70s style >smooth music< like steely dan, elo and fleetwood mac
introducing the debut album from the sorcerers. recently championed by ethio-jazz legend mulatu astatke on his addis abbaba radio show, the sorcerers take influences from ethiopiques ethio-jazz as well as the soundtracks to the european horror films of the 60s and 70s and the british library music of the same era & blend them into one cohesive package.
dylan cameron made his debut release in 2016 on the austin-based holodeck, which has made a lot of noise the last couple of years with releases by marie davison and s u r v i v e. the inifinte floor album set the stage for things to come and tru welcomes dylan to the stable with the dark and minimal purgatory ep. . purgatory features 3 dark and heavy techno cuts starting with dark sorcerer and leads into lost souls on the a-side and continues into the b-side with trojan horse, all weaving in sharp synths and shuffling rhythms not unlike some of dj rush’s or even jeff mills’ best productions. chicago meets detroit meets germany. all tracks meant for the floor and none that disappoint. celsius rounds out the ep with it’s minimal tech-house leanings with oscillating tones, making it a great beat track for layers or to be played in a minimal techno set.
in 2013, we released the debut album from the beat broker. it went down a storm with both the disco buying public and critics alike. fast forward to 2017 and we are just as pleased to welcome the second album from the san francisco resident. he is here to share his sunshine once more.
from his early days as zev love x to his reinvention as a masked supervillain leading the indie hip-hop revolution, lyrical savant mf doom has remained one of the most interesting figures in the rap universe. while most fans already worship classic albums like “operation doomsday”, “mm...food”, and “madvillainy”, doom’s output also includes a number of guest appearances, non-album singles, promo tracks, and other rarities that never made it onto an official release. now, those tracks are finally available on “unexpected guests”, a limited-edition vinyl collection showcasing rare mf doom material. included are collaborations with the likes of talib kweli, j dilla, ghostface killah, sean price, count bass d, vast aire, masta killa, and more. many of these tracks have never been available on vinyl before, making “unexpected guests” an essential addition to doom’s already impressive catalog.

welcome to warsaw: a city in a buoyant state of hope, opportunities and creative, cultural flux. home to a new generation of creative minds, eager to fill the spaces left by the countrys economic exodus last decade.
classic house torchbearer joins forces with octo octa, newbody, benny badge, the horses, sarah bates, sorcerer, ash williams, swinging & sweat in through funky new wave club mixes, freestyle r&b, mesh-top house, freeform hardware workouts & decadent disco.
beaten space probe is the rising star of the new tokyo disco edit scene. his first record on glenview comes with 4 edits, the first being his take on brooklyn dreams “street man” followed by barbara roy “if you want me” b/w norma jean wright “sorcerer” and larrys fat band “act like you .
the second installment in the split lp series is a dutch affair, but it has everything it needs and more to soon make name far abroad. each side of the record contains a complete work clocking in at about twenty minutes.
side a is >chime ep< by hydrus. the four tracks they contributed stand out because of their meticulous production and their wonderful sense of melody and emotion. this is music in the best electronic tradition, blending hiphop, idm, ambient, funk, drone and badass breaks. hydrus begins this twenty-minute journey with a funky bump and end it in a mess of nervous percussion, splintered to dust.
side b is an altogether positive and quirky piece of work by kettel. like most of his work of the last few years, >yellow baron< is exploding with beautiful melody. in six tracks kettel puts everything to work to make your head bop, to bring a smile to your face and a tear to the corner of your eye. classic stuff, without losing sense of experiment.
altair nouveau is among the spaciest of dfaÆs recent signings, a producer clearly as in love with the soundtracks of john carpenter as he is with italo covers of classic rock tunes. >space fortress< saves its best for the final two minutes with a synthesized trumpet lead thatÆll have you either pumping your fist or reaching for the off switch. >showdown<, meanwhile, more adequately gets at mitchellÆs soundtrack love, with its pleasantly percolating backing track giving a chance to various sounds to prove their worth. >sorcerer< embraces the hints of flourish that mitchell dropped in spots elsewhere, and goes full-on with the funk. itÆs tough, well-produced and a little bit funny to listen to in the privacy of your own homeùjust like the 80s soundtrack music that it so readily recalls.
with their interpretation of i see a different you jan krause and michael mettke, better known as beanfield, give us an other fine example of their definition of soulful electronics which will keep the dancefloor packed! on the b side we see a different remix (harhar) of the same song, this time rearrranged by the promising production duo innocent sorcerers out of warsaw, making a name for themselves with their releases on raw fusion. attention the innocent sorcerers remix of i see a different you is nominated the best track at gilles petersons 2006 awards.the final cut is alif trees shakin the angels remix of come to me and everyone who is expecting abstract jazzy beats like on his album french cuisin is off the beaten track. le chef du cuisine is cooking up koop techno styleee as he did previously for his also well appreciated felix laband mix.

IS IT BALEARIC? RECORDINGS: 10 YEAR ANNIVERARY 2CD)
barnaby bruce, dj rocca (ajello, erodiscotique), coyote
2016 sees coyote arrive at a decade of posing the question is it balearic? replicating the compilation shaped celebrations surrounding their fifth anniversary, the landmark is noted with this fine 2cd collection. the compiling skills of balearic chieftain max essa are called on for the first disc selections, with coyote taking care of business on the second for a fine horizontally-minded celebration of all things balearic encompassing 22 tracks. tempos nudge back and forth, different vibes coming to the fore along the way as a dash of steel drum is replaced by forthright synth glistens and upright basslines. legends mingle alongside future heroes, foolish felix and baldelli impressing as much as last waltz and clandestino. as the end nears, up pops prins thomas s classic diskomiks of downtown party network. here s to another ten years is it balearic?
